Arsenal obtained their first victory in the 2015-16 campaign after defeating Crystal Palace 1-2, in front of over 24000 fans at Selhurst Park.
The team managed by Arsene Wenger who surprisingly fell in the first matchday at home 0-2 against West Ham, bounced back from that loss, with a suffered victory vs Alan Pardew’s Crystal Palace.
A victory where Alexis Sanchez played an important role even though he did not scored, he had a lot of opportunities to open the scoreboard in the first minutes. After 15′ the ‘gunners’ were up 1-0, Mesut Özil crossed the ball and Olivier Giroud would hit a wonderful bicycle kick.
After conceding Crystal Palace would not fall, they would keep on attacking and found the equalizer just before the half hour mark, Joel Ward would hit a powerful shot from outside the box to Petr Cech’s second post. 3 minutes into the 2nd half Crystal Palace could’ve taken the lead, a shot by Connor Wickham would hit the post and deny it.
A circumstance that Arsenal would take advantage of to finally take the 3 points home would be an own goal by the irish centre back Damien Delaney, after a header by Alexis Sanchez on a cross from spanish right back Hector Bellerin. Arsenal now sits 11th with 3 points.
