Surprise At The Labor Day Box Office

We have a big surprise at the box office this Labor Day weekend. As estimates are coming in, it is reported that the faith-based movie War Room has won box office with 9.45 million in its second week. War Room stars Priscilla C. Shirer, T.C. Stallings, and Karen Abercrombie. The movie revolves around the perfect family, a family that looks like they have what everyone wants but in reality the family is falling apart, the house has become a war zone and nothing is actually right. Elizabeth (Shirer) has decided to do something about it and goes to seek help from Miss Clara (Abercrombie). Through Miss Clara Elizabeth learns she can heal her family through prayer and faith.

War Room has taken over the top spot from the NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton. Compton came in this weekend at 8.85 million in its fourth week.

Rounding out the top 5 are:

3. A Walk In The Woods, 8.25 million in its opening week.
4. The Transporter Refueled, 7.2 million in its opening weekend.
5. Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, 7.18 million in its 6th week.
