With just under a month left go until the release of Jessica Jones on Netflix and fan reactions to the first episode being overwhelmingly positive, Marvel Studios have released the first full-length trailer for the show.
“The way I see it, being a hero just puts a target on your back.”
“Been there, done that.”
Hinting at Jessica Jones’ (Krysten Ritter) past as a superhero as well as the traumatic experience she has been through at the hands of Zebediah Kilgrave (David Tennant) by the time the show starts, this trailer is markedly different in tone from the teasers that Marvel Studios have been releasing over the last few weeks and seems to act as an introduction of sorts for Kilgrave. His intimidating and creepy presence is felt all the way through the trailer even if he isn’t on-screen – it’ll be interesting to see if the Marvel Cinematic Universe has found a new great villain in Kilgrave after Daredevil turned Wilson Fisk into one of the most fearful and well-developed villains that Marvel Studios has produced to date.
Also appearing in the trailer is Luke Cage (Mike Colter), who will be leading his own Netflix TV series imaginatively titled Luke Cage at some point in 2016. It’ll be interesting to see how these shows end up being linked, and not just Jessica Jones and Luke Cage – I’m half-hoping for an appearance from Nelson and Murdock, Avocados at Law at some point.
I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. Jessica Jones will be released on Netflix in full on 20th November.
