Bleta Rexha is a talented singer, songwriter and music producer who is better known by her stage name Bebe Rexha. She’s globally known for her features on several Billboard hits including G-Eazy’s “Me, Myself & I” and David Guetta’s “Hey Mama”. Little to the knowledge of most people Rexha was also responsible for co-writing Eminem’s smash hit single “The Monster” which features Rihanna. In March of 2016 Rexha branched out into being a solo recording artist and released her debut single “No Broken Hearts” featuring Nicki Minaj which paves the way for her debut album “All Your Fault : PT I” due out in February.
Bebe was born Bleta Rexha to ethnic Albanian parents in Brooklyn, New York. Her name Bleta in Albanian means ‘honey bee’ hence her desire to choose the stage name Bebe. Rexha was always musically inclined, in elementary school she played trumpet and also taught herself to play guitar and piano. Through high school she took part in a variety of musicals and also joined the school choir. She also entered a song into the National Academy Of Recording Arts & Sciences for the annual ‘Grammy Day’, and Rexha walked away with the coveted award “Best Teen Songwriter” beating 700 other contestants and scoring a contract with talent scout Samantha Cox.
Rexha’s career began as a chance encounter with Fall Out Boys, Peter Wentz. The two met at a New York recording studio, and would lead to Rexha being the lead singer of Wentz’s experimental group Black Cards. But it was Rexha who departed the group after several single releases to pursue other endeavors. Prior to signing with Warner music in 2013, Rexha had already written singles for Selena Gomez and Nikki Williams.
But it was the smash hit single “The Monster” which Rexha had co-written and co-produced with Jon Bellion that really put her on the map. The single made it’s way to A&R of Atlantic Records who made it the fourth single from Eminem’s album “The Marshall Mathers LP 2”. The single went to the top of the Billboard 100, and put Bebe Rexha in the notable category as a gifted songwriter.
Bebe Rexha then went on to co-write and feature on singles by Cash Cash, Pitbull, and David Guetta which all made it into the Billboard 100. But it was the single “Me, Myself & I” which she features on and co-wrote for G-Eazy which made her career explode. The song hit number 1 on the Billboard charts, and became a worldwide hit which lead the way for Rexha to release her debut single “No Broken Hearts” featuring Nicki Minaj. The song accumulated over 135 million views on YouTube since the video was dropped in April of 2016.
On July 29th Rexha struck it big once again by teaming up with music producer Martin Garrix for the single “In The Name Of Love” which peaked at number 24 on the Billboard charts, 4 on the US dance charts and entered the top 10 in several countries including Australia, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Canada and Italy. Since then Rexha has hosted the EMA’s and released her second single “I Got You, which has peaked at number 22 on the Billboard charts.
