Katy Perry Will Have You “Chained To The Rhythm”

Over the last few days glittery disco balls have been popping up all over the world in a build up to the release of Katy Perry’s highly anticipated new song “Chained To The Rhythm”. It’s her first song since her Olympic anthem “Rise”. The song is produced by Max Martin who is famously known for turning out mega pop hits which includes some of Perry’s past number 1’s, and not only does Max Martin co-write the single so does Australia’s own Sia Furler who right now is dominating the charts with songs off her “This Is Acting” album.

“Chained To The Rhythm” features Bob Marley’s grandson Skip, who manages to blend his reggae sound into the background of the tracks mid temp pop beat. The lyric video was just released, which shows basically a hamster inside a miniaturised kitchen. This song doesn’t scream out catchy pop tune that we are used to from Perry, and at some points during this song the words don’t always seem to fit where she and her team have placed them but the final product is still surely going to be snapped up by the masses.

This song is the lead single from Perry’s fourth coming studio album that is yet to have a release date or an album title and will be her first release in 4 years since the dominant “Prism”. The promotion for “Chained To The Rhythm” was strong as ever as Perry’s marketing team chained disco balls to various locations in major cities all around the world. If fans could discover where they were and find them, they were rewarded with a play of the track, as every disco ball featured a headphone jack and the song streaming on repeat. Pure genius if you ask me.

Since the last time we heard from her musically, Perry has been working on her relationship with actor Orlando Bloom and has also taken a more political then musical path by joining Madonna, Cher, Amy Schumer and others at a nationwide Women’s March on Washington. Katy Perry has had strong views since President Trumps inauguration and even took to her twitter to voice her opinion by simply tweeting “Don’t normalise hate”.

Now Katy Perry is back to doing what we love her doing the most, expect big things for this single and her forthcoming album. All her leads singles from her previous albums have all hit number 1 on the Billboard 100 and we expect this to do the same. And stayed tuned to next week’s Grammy awards to hear Katy Perry perform “Chained To The Rhythm” live for the first time. We hope this will all lead to a world tour, and as a fan of her’s and somebody who has seen her live, trust me you don’t want to miss out. “Chained To The Rhythm” is out now.
