Michael Jackson Album Coming Sept. 29…”SCREAM”

On September 4th social media began advertising subtly a new 13 track album from the ‘King Of Pop’ Michael Jackson which will feature classics like “Thriller” and Dirty Diana” and be released on September 29th. This project has come as a joint venture between Legacy and Epic Recordings and the estate of Michael Jackson, and carries a newly created bonus mashup track “Blood On The Dance Floor X Dangerous”. The song which also happens to be the lead single is remixed by White Panda and is a mashup of five songs, “Blood on the Dance Floor,” “Dangerous,” “This Place Hotel,” “Leave Me Alone” and “Is It Scary.” On Sept. 6 Shazam users were given a sneak peak of the song during a two hour window in which they could Shazam any Michael Jackson song to unlock it. “Blood on the Dance Floor X Dangerous” will also be offered as an instant free track with pre-orders of “SCREAM” digitally and will be available on all streaming platforms.

The introduction of this album comes right after Michael Jackson’s Thriller 3D debuted at the Venice Film Festival. Interestingly enough with the release of this album will also come a glow in the dark two LP vinyl which will be available October 27th just before Halloween. Both the vinyl and CD version of the project will include a unique poster and cover art conceal another surprise:  the first-ever augmented reality (AR) experience created for a Jackson project. Believe it or not this comes as the 11th album released since the King Of Pop’s death.

Included on “SCREAM” are the The Jacksons song “This Place Hotel” which was the very first single written and composed soley by Michael Jackson. Also “Somebody’s Watching Me” appears on the LP in which Michael sings the hook and was a international hit back in 1985 by Rockwell and is now for the first time making an appearance on a Jackson album. Celebrations for this album will take place this up coming fall across six major cities Paris, London, Sydney, Berlin, Los Angeles and Tokyo. Fans will be treated to screenings of Jackson’s seven short films from the “SCREAM” album during the celebrations followed by an after party. The screenings will include the 40-minute Michael Jackson’s “Ghosts”rarely seen since its initial showing at the 1997 Cannes Film Festival.

As a fan of the late star I am excited for the LP, currently I own all of his works and it will be interesting to hear the new spin on some of his classic hits. Right now the album is available for pre-order on ITunes. But look out below for the sneak peak of “SCREAM”.
