THE HIT LIST

Introducing ‘The Hit List’ : new songs from Tyga, Bloodpop, Rudimental…

Hailee Steinfeld (feat. BloodPop) – “Capital Letters” : Next month the final installment of the Fifty Shades Trilogy will come to an end and with that brings us a concluding soundtrack. The second single from the upcoming Fifty Shades Freed film pairs two big names in pop at the moment, Hailee Steinfeld with producer BloodPop for the song “Capital Letters.” BloodPop best known for his work with Justin Bieber, brings his pop sensibilities to the new single, which has a much more carefree approach than we’re used to hearing from the soundtrack of seduction.

This track follows the quiet success of the previous release by Rita Ora and Liam Payne called “For You”, and much like it I feel this single will fall short of the Grammy nominated achievements the previous soundtracks have had. Never the less still worth the listen, “Capital Letters” is out now.

Tyga – “Dubai Drip” : This week rapper Tyga dropped his remix of the Metro Boomin’ single “Ric Flair Drip” record called “Dubai Drip”. Tyga also released the video this week and it see’s the California native head overseas to Dubai, where he shows off his lavish visit to the Middle Eastern city. From performing at a nightclub in front of hundreds of enthusiastic fans, to showcasing his extravagant jewelry during a studio session, Tyga makes sure to use his time away from the U.S. to the fullest. In the song he also states there’s no love lost between him and Young Money, despite having financial beef with ex record exec of the label Birdman.

Tyga is no stranger to exotic locations for video shoots, he recently released his track “Temperature” which took place in Thailand and features on his “Bugatti Raww” project that came out last year. “Dubai Drip” is out now.

Wolf Alice (feat. Charli XCX) – “Don’t Delete The Kisses” : In an interesting combo pop artist Charli XCX joined forces with Post Precious to remix band Wolf Alice’s brand new single “Don’t Delete The Kisses”. Charli XCX manages to transform this indie-rock original into a electro pop confession that aligns with the sound she delivered on her two recent mixtapes. Charli’s cover of the song gives her two verses on the mix, with the band’s lead singer’s Ellie Rowsell’s final verse closing out the song. Such an unusual teaming yet some how the talents of Charli XCX manages to make it work so well.

Jorja Smith (feat. Stormzy) – “Let Me Down” : Now to something a little more subtle, as songstress Jorja Smith and grime artist Stormzy teamed up for haunting ballad called “Let Me Down,” a spiritless look into a one-sided relationship. The video also came out earlier in the week and carry’s a James Bond inspired theme that’s directed by Hector Dockrill, and shows visuals of Smith as a hit woman who makes the mistake of falling for her target, a ballet dancer. The 20 year old UK singing sensation Smith has a disarming and graceful tone and although she is only young she still has commanding vocals. This track you can expect to hear on a radio near you.

Fat Joe & Dre – “Pick It Up: And they’re back….rapper Fat Joe teamed up with his old producer Dre (from production team Cool & Dre) for the new smash hit single “Pick It Up”. Featuring a sample of the Tupac classic “Ambitionz Az A Ridah,” Dre & Joe Crack The Don deliver a heavy strip club-themed video that features a slew of lingerie-clad models in Las Vegas. These two are no strangers to hit making, they’ve teamed up for many hits in the past, their biggest being “Lean Back”. Just last year you would of seen this duo release the song “So Excited”, but this new effort is going to be more fire especially in the clubs. “Pick It Up” is out now.

Rudimental – “These Days (feat. Jess Glynne, Macklemore & Dan Caplen)” : Just last week platinum selling collective Rudimental revealed their brand new single “These Days” featuring the masterminds of Jess Glynne and and rapper Macklemore. Taken from the groups forthcoming album this single shows the incredible vocals of the featured artists mixed effortlessly with the experimental sound of one of the biggest names in British music. Not to be ignored the single also features an up and coming soul artist Dan Caplen, who actually wrote this demo back in 2016 and after teaming up with Rudimental for some production duties, it was played to rapper Macklemore at a writing session in LA, and the birth of a musical masterpiece was made. Like majority of Rudimental songs, expect to see this on the charts very soon, especially with the weight of superstars it carries. “These Days” is available now.

Mally Mall (feat. Jeremih & E-40) – “Physical” : Now for all you hip hop fans, in the fashion of common sounds that make a club banger, producer Mally Mall released his new track “Physical” which features singer Jeremih and rapper E-40. The song comes from his record “Mally’s World Vol 1” which came out last year and featured guest appearances from French Montana, 2 Chainz, Post Malone, Migos and more. I’m not sure if it’s big enough to make the charts but it’s certainly something to blow your speakers up. “Physical” is available now.
