With the Super Bowl steadily approaching, sports fans look forward to the mecca among all football games, spicy buffalo wings, and beer (despite the promise of work the next day). For fans of both sports and cinema, it is quite a different day. These fans look forward not only to the gut-wrenching game, the unhealthy array of food, beer, alongside the highly anticipated lough-out-loud commercials, and above all else, epic movie trailers.
The Super Bowl is known for showing the best-of-the-best in regard to movie trailers, always having to one-up themselves from the year before. In this regard, Super Bowl 2016 is no different. Despite the epic confirmed trailers of this year, we cannot forget last year’s fantastic trailers: Jurassic World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Transformers 4: Age of Extinction, Furious 7, Tomorrowland alongside many others. This time of the year makes cinema-geeks (like myself) rise out of their seats in anticipation of the 50th Super Bowl’s battle of the trailers.
One of the most highly anticipated live-action movie trailer will make its way onto the small screen during Super Bowl 2016: The Jungle Book. Despite the short trailer, it still takes the fans on a wild and captivating ride, which is the story of the man-cub, Mowglie. In my opinion, this trailer could very well be the winner of the battle of the trailers during the Super Bowl. The Jungle Book will be released in theaters April 15, 2016.
Disney’s, Alice Through The Looking Glass is another live-action flick that snagged a spot on the docket for the 50th Super Bowl. This has Disney fans jumping for joy over the mystical tale of Alice who finds herself back in Wonderland, which is said to be released May 2016.
Paramount Pictures’, Zoolander 2, is said to make a “Relaxed” entrance onto the list of movie trailers said to be released during the Super Bowl. Ben Stiller and co-star Owen Wilson are back in this laugh-out-loud sequel of the 2001 film. Zoolander 2 will hit theaters February 21.
20th Century Fox will release their ninth installment in the X-Men franchise, X-Men: Apocalypse, on May 27, 2016. The X-Men have to battle Apocalypse, the most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men saga. This star-studded, action-packed sci-fi trailer earned their spot on the 2016 Super Bowl’s battle of the trailers.
What would the Super Bowl be without yet another Captain America movie trailer? Captain America: Civil War is a confirmed trailer that will be shown on Sunday. Marvel fans are itching for more action, hero’s, villains, which will eventually lead into another Avengers flick. With a star-studded cast (as per usual) this trailer is up there for a contender to win the battle of the trailers. This film will be released May 26, 2016.
One of the most talked about confirmed trailers for the Super Bowl is none other then Paramount Pictures’, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Out Of The Shadows. In this trailer, we see a glimpse of the evil villains the turtles need to take on. The trailer portrays something similar to a black-hole, indicating that the villains for this film may be aliens. This live-action adventure comedy will be in theaters June 3, 2016.
One of the more anticipated trailers to be debuted at the 50th Super Bowl is Universal’s, Bourne 5. Matt Damon returns in the action-packed Jason Bourne franchise. During the trailers airing, it will not only show the trailer for the first time, but it will also divulge the title of the film as well. Universal has not released much about the 5th installment, leaving the plot to be a mystery. All we know is that this film takes place 12 years after the end of the Bourne Ultimatum.
