INsiders Guide: Chloe Lilac, Ruben Young, Young & Sick, Fiona Harte, St. Humain

Brooklyn artist Chloe Lilac has announced the release of her highly anticipated debut EP entitled “Manic Pixie Dream”, due out March 8 via RCA Records. Alongside the announcement, Chloe released the EP’s title track as a brand new single. Describing the new single, Chloe notes, “The manic pixie dream girl trope is very frustrating to me and that’s what this song is about. It’s an unattainable standard for women. I was finding that the people I was dating expected me to be a manic pixie dream girl instead of a real, complex, multi-dimensional person.”

Ruben Young is an emerging, independent R&B/Pop artist & songwriter from Calgary, Canada. He cites a wide range of influences from Marvin Gaye, to Anderson Paak, to Amy Winehouse. In 2017, Ruben released his first three singles independently. His efforts generated over two million streams, and earned him a place on stage as direct support for international artists such as The Chainsmokers, Nelly, Akon and Classified. Young’s most recent single, “Bad Habits” (Aug 2017), produced by multi-platinum, JUNO award winning artist/producer Classified, was named “one of the best Canadian songs” of September by Complex Magazine’s Northern Touch List. The song was performed live on Global Television’s National Morning Show, and has since racked up over 550,000 streams on Spotify. Ruben is currently nominated for Urban Artist of the Year at the Western Canadian Music Awards, as well as Male Artist, and Pop Recording of the Year at the YYC (Calgary) Music Awards. Ruben is also a developing independent Pop and R&B topline and lyric writer.

Musician and visual artist known as Young & Sick (real name Nick van Hofwegen) has released brand new single “No Good”, taken from his forthcoming EP due for release in spring 2019. The song transitions between dark pop vibes and deep house grooves, Nick describes, “‘NO GOOD’ is a confession of my many mistakes. My inability to keep from going absolutely insane. And my failure in stopping my self-destruction. It also happens to be a killer hit at kid’s birthdays, office parties and water-balloon fights.”

Northern Irish singer-songwriter Fiona Harte has released her latest single ‘Storms’. It’s an emotional ballad which contains elements of folk and country. ‘Storms’ focuses on setting a love free, and is delivered with Fiona’s incredible vocals accompanied by the bands stripped back sound. The poetic lyrics and emotional concepts are inspired by a combination of musical influences that range from Joni Mitchell to Dolly Parton.
