Stockholm artist Miynt returns with a brand new, self-produced single, “Vacation with Bond in south of France part 2.” The track marks Miynt’s return since the release of her 2016 debut EP and is the first single released from her upcoming sophomore EP, due out summer 2019 via B3SCI Records, the majority of which was mixed by Jake Aaron (Snail Mail, A$AP Rocky, Grizzly Bear, Solange).
Describing the new single, Miynt notes, “I’ve always been inspired by early Bond movie theme music, so I wrote a synopsis for a Bond movie that never existed. The movie begins at a space station in the late ’60s where people (the bad guys) are doing experiments on space monkeys and then a lot of action plays out that I can’t reveal, though one thing I can say is that Bond goes on vacation to France two times in the film. I wrote all the music for this fake Bond movie but this is the only track that made it on this EP, which is about Bond’s 2nd trip to south of France.”
The new single is a bold return for Miynt, whose unique blend of psych rock and grunge pop has captivated fans and critics since her 2016 debut project, Ep no. 1, which solidified Miynt’s place among the top up-and-comers. The release boasted standout singles including “The Strangest Game,” “After The Gold Rush,” and “Cool,” which prompted love from outlets like The FADER, Stereogum, and SPINand saw radio support from the likes of KCRW and Zane Lowe / Beats 1. Touting the EP, DIY described its tracklist as “glitter-flecked pop songs that blaze a completely different trail.”
Monti is the brainchild of Los Angeles based singer-songwriter Lauren Silva “Monti”. Monti’s music empowers the next generation with thought provoking lyrics about overcoming a life of hardships. Born into an abusive broken home filled with drugs and alcoholism, Monti was a runaway who dodged foster care systems living off and on the streets, escaping a life of gangs, mental hospitals, group homes, and drug and alcohol abuse. Her turbulent past is brilliantly conveyed in her debut EP entitled This Is For You; a stunning moody synth and electro pop five song release produced and co-written by Josh Stevens (LMFAO, Calvin Harris, The Game).
“Echo” is an indie chant anthem of hope. Featuring powerful keys and soulful vocals, Monti takes the listener on a journey of self–discovery in discussing her own experiences of overcoming adversity of a troubled youth. The harmonizing larger than life chorus features platinum producer/recording artist Josh Stevens and the Hope Generation’s youth choir singing a powerful message of not becoming a victim of one’s own circumstances. “Echo” delivers a unique sound, combining brooding electronics, heavy beats and bright guitars all brought together by Monti’s distinctive layered vocals. “Cowards Castle” reflects upon Monti’s own experience with a co-dependent relationship and the devastating effect it had on her. “As the relationship kept getting more and more unbalanced I realized my partner had started to build a castle around his emotions, and wore his cowardly crown proudly as he allowed his fears to push me and love further and further away metaphorically speaking.” confides Monti. Sonically, “Cowards Castle” is a stunningly poignant pop song with haunting vocals, deep synths and indie electronic beats.
New single “Shadow” highlights how all-encompassing love can be. Featuring R&B melodies, soulful vocals and electronic soundscapes, the track details the true meaning of being ‘crazy in love’. Lauren Silva Monti has built a career in entertainment at an early age. Landing her first record deal as a teenager, she has toured internationally sharing the stages with famed artists/acts including Marcia Ball, P.O.D. and L.F.O. Her music has been featured on major cable TV networks including Oxygen and HBO and she has written alongside major artists on Sony and Universal. This Is For You is set for release May 2019 worldwide.
Mitch McAteer is a 21-year-old Irish singer songwriter set to release his debut single ‘I Hate That I Love You’. The gravitas of Mitch’s voice finds a worthy home alongside the alt-folk track’s sombre guitar and lazy, rolling drums. There are moments where his raw vocals recall artists such as Ray LaMontagne and Nathaniel Rateliff, his gruff timbre escalating to a confessional howl in the chorus. ‘I Hate That I Love You’ is the first taster to Mitch’s upcoming EP, recorded in the Irish countryside over just four days. Similar to when he wrote the tracks, it was important for Mitch to record them in isolation – with no signal, no wifi, no distraction.
The turning point in Mitch’s creative journey came when he returned from London to a mobile home on the fringes of his uncle’s farm. He craved space to think and process, and no wifi and a £10 mobile phone helped perfectly to achieve that! The beauty of his Co. Down homeland allowed him to open up creatively. He was inspired by the dynamics of the scenery, the changing seasons, the cycle from dull misty mornings to warm summer evenings. After months of writing in isolation, the songs evolved into the upcoming EP – what Mitch describes as a “wee family”.
A major inspiration for the EP’s production style was Nashville producer Dave Cobb’s live approach to recording. Mitch drafted in friends and family to come play on the tracks and recorded everything live. He is a firm believer that this vintage form of production connects with people more organically because the feelings of the musicians are more present. This old-school approach to recording aims to “capture the truth in human errors” and reflects Mitch’s love for and deep connection to the music. The result is a remarkable talent that can be felt intensely throughout his songs.
Roman Clarke is proud to announce the release of “Scorcher”. On the record Roman Clarke says; “I cut my teeth in the music scene first as a drummer, gigging alongside my family and touring/recording with my best friends – Dylan MacDonald (Field Guide) and Liam Duncan – in The Middle Coast. In spite of my beginnings, the art of songcraft has always been both my passion and my obsession. My new self-produced full-length album, SCORCHER, is my first real step into the world as a solo artist. With the exception of a few choice string parts, I wrote every lyric, played every instrument, and sang every vocal on this record. From the first demos through to the final mix, I was at the helm the whole way”.
Taking a listen to this album, I have to say I loved it. From the lyrics and especially the instrumentals, it makes for the perfect easy listening.
