multi-hyphenate artist Layla Kardan releases ‘No Place’, the second single and video taken from her upcoming EP ‘Abscission’, set for release on 26th February 2021. In the new cut Layla continues exploring the darkest angles of an unhealthy relationship, where her recently released single ‘You’ served as an initiation to her empowering journey of loss-love and self-discovery, ‘No Place’ is a poignant deep dive into a loveless relationship, in which Layla’s soulful vocals and vivid lyrics deliver another emotional blow. Reflecting on the song Layla says “’No Place’ is dedicated to all my ex-boyfriends who were too afraid of losing control and share their emotions but chose instead to control the narrative by keeping the relationship’s existence only on the surface while projecting their insecurities”.

Entirely shot using the Apple iPhone 11 Pro and edited on iPad by creative director Rabih Rowell, the cinematic video features Layla entangled between her lover – played by Italian fashion photographer Francesco Scotti – and her husband. The video is reminiscent of the golden age of Italian cinema, filmed in Dubai between the 16th century Italian Palace-influenced location of Palazzo Versace and the desert, with Layla recalling a modern Sophia Loren meets Monica Bellucci thanks to a series of lavish outfits lent by Dolce & Gabbana and Mrs Keepa, the Dubai fashion designer shaping the region with her provocative designs.

Part of a new generation of fearless creative talent redefining music, fashion and culture in Dubai, Layla works closely with A’Y, the music producer pushing new sounds in the region. With credits including cuts with TLC and Pusha T, for ‘No Place’, the sought after artist experiments with dark sounds, percussive drum beats cushioned by warped electronic sounds, distorted vocals and haunting chants, over which Layla’s voice stands out gloriously through the mix.

Layla is a Third Culture Kid, born in Belgium with Persian roots and Australian nationality, she currently lives in Dubai, her cross cultural background has influenced her music and, which is deeply rooted in human nature and aims to transcend cultural boundaries. Part of the new scene of artists redefining the Sound of the Middle East, Layla is more of a music artist, from working with charities including Unicef on the education of refugee children, to collaborating with some of the biggest fashion brands and including Louis Vuitton and Chanel, as well as publications including Harper’s Bazaar, GQ, Grazia, Vogue and Esquire, with the latter awarding her their Musician of The Year in 2018.

Elthia is a singer-songwriter based in Los Angeles. With a songwriting style that references her favorite influences from pop music, while still showcasing the elegance of fingerstyle guitar, Elthia has been penning beautifully nostalgic songs, taking listeners on a colorful adventure.

Following the release of her debut EP, Island of Mine, Elthia is unveiling her new single, “i love you, but you make me cry.” The song was the beginning of her new venture towards indie-pop music with dance elements, showcasing delicate instrumentation, soft, dreamy vocals and glittery guitar harmonics. Thematically the song was inspired by the pieces of a broken relationship; it’s about trying to reach someone, but they keep putting up their walls, trying to protect themselves, and every time you try to dig a little deeper, it hurts a little more. Elthia explains, “The message of the song is to tell the story of what it’s like to love something that hurts you every time you try to understand it. I wanted to show the duality of the two ideas that are constantly at war while existing inside of you, and showcase what the breaking point would actually be, if there is one at all.”

“i love you, but you make me cry” finds inspiration in magic, with lines like “immersed in your hypnosis, willing to suffocate”, meaning, “I’ll keep obsessing over you, even if I put myself in danger”. The song is about the obsession, knowing that you’re getting hurt and still wanting to reach out anyway. The hypnosis and spells create an image of otherworldly forces taking over you, and that’s what this love feels like.

Emanating sincerity and a raw edge, Elthia shows the emotion behind the song, right down to the shakiness in her vocals. She confides, “I wanted the listener to feel like they could break down to this song as well; I feel like the best time and place to listen to this song is when you need to cry.

alt-pop darling Kat Saul releases her sophomore EP, ‘made in the 90s.’ The 5-track EP includes previously released singles, “I Love To Hate You,” “Monsters,“ and “Alright,” as well as two brand new tracks, “X2” and “Cloud 9.”

‘made in the 90s’ is a coming of age record that celebrates how the past has made Kat Saul the woman and artist she is today. Saul captures the good, the bad, and the ugly of the human experience. She confronts her own mental health struggles on songs like “Monsters” and “Cloud 9,” works through heartbreak on “I Love To Hate You,” learns to let go on “X2,” and faces the fear of the unknown on “Alright.” Musically, ‘made in the 90s’ exists in a world unrestricted by genre, expectations, and trends. Saul seamlessly combines electro-pop melodies with 90s alt-rock instrumentals, creating a record that manages to feel both fresh and nostalgic.

“‘made in the 90s’ is me reflecting on who I am and what I’ve been through as I transition into adult life so that I can process how the past has made me who I am…because that’s what art is right?,” Kat writes. “It was written over several years, in several different stages of life, and in several different cities. I live to perform and I write to get through the chaos of being human. I was made in the 90s, and this is what that sounds like to me.”

Ekelle is a multi-genre artist and songwriter from Toronto. Ekelle rhymes about what she knows best: her real-life experience! Money, sex, drama and identity stir together to create a style that she calls Hood Pop – Popular music with a street edge. Hood Pop combines elements of hip hop, pop music and R&B. Ekelle hopes that the honesty in her music will motivate others to share their stories too and to never give up. At the beginning stages of her career she thought she just had to pick one genre to work with which was hard for her because so many different styles gave her inspiration. Ekelle has since then branched out and decided to carve out her own sound that represents her eclectic tastes and interests. Ekelle loves to candidly rap out her real lived experience and/or play with metaphor and simile as she sings. She puts her songs together with dreamy soundscapes and hard hitting beats that can turn up any party! Noticing a void in the music scene, Ekelle found that no one artist was telling a story that she could fully relate to. Ekelle was finding that she enjoyed the music being made today, but there were aspects of her story there were simply no songs for, so she decided to create them herself. Her cathartic approach with her newly improved sound began to take her places. Drawing on her experiences with heartbreak, happiness, race, love, sexual orientation and more she definitely has an anthem for you.

Mear is an indie pop collaboration between singer-songwriter Frances Miller and electronic composer Greg Harrison. Together, their music combines catchy melodies and poignant lyrics with their shared love of experimental music. Miller and Harrison met while working at the music venue Massey Hall in Toronto and began collaborating shortly thereafter by sending tracks back and forth over social media. Their debut single “Perfect Mess” was featured by The East, edm joy, and OMGblog and was selected by CBC Music as a “Song you need to hear this week.” Mear has received funding assistance from The Canada Council for the Arts and FACTOR and is set to release their first full-length album in early Spring, 2021.

Leila couldn’t be further from your typical indie artist. Hailing from Neverheardofit Pennsylvania, her sound and lyrics carry their humble roots. A little Jazz, a little soul, a hint of strange and three shots of romance will keep this spellbinding cocktail of uncanny ballads in your head forever. Having grown up playing piano, singing, and dancing in recitals and competitions she was exposed to the industry at an early age, setting the stage for this artistic endeavor. Her love for Chopin and Debussy heavily influences her songwriting, infusing her sound with a musical maturity and sophistication.

Primarily inspired by late romantic classical composers and vintage Italian film scores, Leila describes her sound as “Subtle Freak Hawaiian Prom.” A syrupy vocal and hypnotic wave of guitars wash you away from wherever you’re sitting and into a velvet armchair at a sparkling B-list dinner party.

All songs, artwork, and music videos are painstakingly created by the artist herself by way of a full time career in software engineering. Her sheer determination is the driving force behind her upcoming debut album Glass Highways. Produced with Tim Carr (The Americans, Fell Runner), the ten-track release is a breakup album exploring the stages of romantic loss. Beginning with doubt and moving all the way through to reflection. Leila confides, “I tried not to be too prescriptive in my lyrics, but rather acknowledge the varied and at times dissonant emotions we face amidst heartbreak.”

Glass Highways is a vocal-heavy album, featuring bittersweet lyrics, inviting the listener to consider the dark and light of life in tandem, adding candor and humility to Leila’s story. Thematically, the album is romantic and lush, consisting of long, dramatic songs oozing with cinematic flair. The songwriter reveals, “During production of my songs, I try to feel like I’m enveloped by them. I want them to wrap me in sound and feeling, as if pulling me into a daydream, or LeilaLand, for that matter.”

Upon moving to LA, Leila joined the Angel City Chorale touring England and ultimately performing with the London Philharmonic and recording at Abbey Road Studios. While singing in this choir, she began writing and producing original songs, many of which are included in Glass Highways.

York, PA-based alt. rock/emo/pop-punk songwriter/guitarist Darro is set to release Songs of Recovery, an album that deals with his diagnosis, surgery, and recovery from a brain tumor.

“Each song from Songs of Recovery deals with a different situation dealing with my brain tumor,” Darro says of the album.  “Sometimes it’s an angst-filled song commenting about how people think I’m fine because I appear physically healthy, or that I still get panic attacks just from walking down the street. Whatever the case is, each song is essentially dealing with PTSD or something that’s affected the last 9 years of my life without my knowledge.”

To say Darro Chea, aka alt/rock songwriter/guitarist,Darro,has faced an uphill battle would be an understatement.  Three days after returning to the U.S. from grad school abroad, the Asian American musician and producer was diagnosed with a brain tumor. The rehabilitation process sent him back to square one, having to learn to speak, chew, and sing all over again. Telling his story through music, Darro was featured on Billboard for his video, “You’re Not Insane,” and continues to share more music based on his experiences, including his upcoming full-length album, Songs of Recovery.

Born from the hardships of his brain tumor, Songs Of Recovery is a set of originals that address Darro’s journey in powerful, straightforward language that anyone can relate to.  Against all odds, he’s come through his ordeal with his sense of self intact.

Songs of Recovery will be coming out this winter, and it will include ‘Wired Shut,’ the last three singles I released, and a few more songs that I’ve never released.  I’m excited to share it with everyone, but I’m also excited to sort of close this chapter of my music and begin the next.  I have a handful of very different sounding songs up my sleeve and I’m hecking excited for people to hear them.  Oh, and I have a lit music video coming out for ‘Undefined.’  Sorry it’s coming a year after it’s release, but it’s gonna be a really good video.”

Darro’s music is a reflection of the journey he’s endured. An inspirational figure for all his fans, Darro has conquered the unimaginable, including graduating from Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor’s in Guitar Performance and Music Production/Engineering; and a Master’s in Contemporary Guitar Performance.  His first EP, Nostalgia, was recorded and released in 2017, shortly after jaw surgery and reflected upon challenges he was having at the time. With poppy melodies and crafty guitars, he taps into a realm of progressive and pop-rock, integrating anthemic elements from bands like Paramore and My Chemical Romance with emotionally-expressive guitar work inspired by John Mayer and wizards like Steve Vai.  The newer music, including “You’re Not Insane,” “Wired Shut,” “Undefined,” and “Paralyzed,” focuses on his struggles post brain surgery and how it has affected his life.

Ovie (Oh-vee-ay) is the Irish music sensation that highly impressed critics the world over with his debut single ‘Dublin Girl’. STREAM/DOWNLOAD: OVIE – ONE MORE TIME

Ovie has applied himself to every aspect of his craft, often taking steps back and forth before finding both his way, and his sound. A self-taught producer, video director, and writer that centres powerful and emotive song writing at the forefront of all of his music, ‘One More Time’ is a departure from the sound of ‘Dublin Girl’ as he connects to his Nigerian roots, the Afrobeats melodies and the Afrocentric delivery that prevails, resulting in an arrival to his sound.

Written alongsideJay Pizzle, ‘One More Time’ captures the idea that while someone might seem to have it all, they are not necessarily happy. Talking about the new single, Ovie explains “Production wise I wanted to create a juxtaposition between the lyrics on paper and the vibe of the song. Lyrically I tried to be very honest…. It’s really a sad song but if you were to listen passively, I think you’d probably miss that.I told the story of a guy who seemingly has everything but is unhappy because he lost what really mattered in the process of getting everything he thought mattered.”

Accompanied with a sensational, self-directed and self-edited video, the emotion of its creator is palpable, Ovie explains: “My scenes were full of muted colours, sadness, rain, lightning and rigidity and the scenes of the person I’m missing are happy, colourful, dynamic and she’s dancing etc. She’s what is missing, and I wanted to make that really really clear. I hope that came across…”

Things seem tough sometimes, but that isn’t an excuse to throw in the towel.

Sam Nardella has released his new single, “Through the Need.” This track is a confident and driving song about fighting for what one believes in. The overall message behind “Through the Need” is that it may not be the easiest journey, but success is possible in the long run.

Sam based this song on the hero’s journey analogy from literature where the protagonist follows a path and eventually encounters a cave. There, he will have to face his demons, but always knows there’s a light on the other side. The lyrics talk about facing oneself after feeling stuck and learning to go after what one wants in order to move forward. Sam wants to speak to the dream inside listeners to feel a sense of escape with the open chords in the production and warm vocals that carry throughout the song.

Sam Nardella is an up and coming singer-songwriter hailing from Boston. Facing the struggles of working odd hours and living in a dark basement storage room, Sam found inspiration and solace in Rock n’ Roll and the great outdoors. Coining himself as a mellowed out version of Kings of Leon, Sam’s influences of the 90s and beyond are present in his music. Sam’s songs come from a place of struggle and he wants to inspire his listeners to dream.  Sam recruited friends from his hometown to bring life to demos he wrote in a garage in Los Angeles. The songs combated the struggle of his immediate situation and gave a voice to the dreamer inside. His singles “Through the Need” and the upcoming single “Feel I Found It” reflects two sides of the same coin. “Feel I Found It” is the bright glimpse of clarity in life’s direction and “Through the Need” as the acceptance of having to confront the dark cave of my deepest desires and fears.

Blending dreamy vocals and almost-a-little-too-honest lyrics, Amanda Frances is an emerging indie electro-pop artist and songwriter hailing from Toronto.

Spending the early chapters of her songwriting career learning from some of Nashville’s best, Music City’s distinct lyrical storytelling can be heard in her highly detailed and personal lyrics, for which she has been nominated multiple times by the International Songwriting Competition. Frances’ songwriting chops can currently be heard on singles at both Pop and Country radio alike.

The songstress’ soon to be released catalogue shows a developed artistry, blending the skill of Nashville songwriting with a fresh electro-pop sound that feels true to what Frances embodies in spirit, style, and soul.

Albanian born XHOANA X takes her dark, Eastern European heritage very seriously.  From an upbringing of one of the most tolerant spiritual cultures in the world, comes a unique style of art, with a mixture of freedom, rebellion and heroism.

The relaxed form of culture from Albania is the driving force here. You are in the darkest little corner of your room. And yet, this is where you find that you are most comfortable. Although perhaps you also find yourself a bit surprised at the ease in which you exist here.

The unexpected seems natural.

The rich enthralling darkness is the vibe.

Following in the footsteps of early musical influences the likes of Massive Attack and ‪Portishead, XHOANA’s music takes us on a spellbinding journey, as if we are preparing for a series of pagan rituals based on mystical beliefs.

Make no question here, she is the high priestess, and in full control of  the ritual.  The journey is a web in which we are caught, but you’ll find it hard to turn your ears away. You are trapped in a web of intrigue and sensuality while a neo noir movie plays in your head.

Her look and fashion is no less captivating, additionally filled with occasional David Lynch-esque twists and turns.
Although her main ambition has always been on developing her musical recording career, XHOANA has also worked both as an actress, influencer, and model.

I can’t believe my eyes. As if looking in a deep space mirror, a perfect mirage comes floating towards me. My eyes go wide, fixed upon the figure moving out of the shadows and into the light.

He has so much color in his skin, standing strong and straight before me. There is a glow in his eyes. A youthful light, but with lifetimes of wisdom beyond that. Neither of us speak. Suddenly memories start flashing through my mind. Memories of my youth. Of warmth and love. I shut my eyes and feel myself within them. I feel the seasons on my skin, the warm air in my lungs. It’s incredible.
I feel reality no more, only the reality of these memories.

Focusing my eyes I take a step back.
I’ve been alone in space for nearly a year,
The exhaustion has me hallucinating.

I’m looking at myself.

Ginesse, the project of Los Angeles-based artist and actress Cait Fairbanks, shares her new EP, ‘Somewhere To Die,’ out on all streaming platforms today. ‘Somewhere To Die’ is Ginesse’s debut EP and consists of 5 brand new, previously unreleased songs that were crafted over the course of the past few years with her longtime collaborator, producer Matias Moras (CYN, AU/RA, The Aces). Across the EP, Ginesse takes listeners on a lush, indie-pop journey, chronicling some of her life’s defining moments — career changes, falling in love, falling out of love, blackout nights, depression, medication, sweat and tears — with an intimate, diary-like touch.

Eleri Angharad has announced her latest single New Sin will be released on Friday 13th November 2020 via streaming/digital download platforms. The Swansea based siren’s latest single sees her explore her sultrier pop side, observing the story of two strangers beginning a love affair.

Inspired by her legendary hometown venue Sin City, SwanseaNew Sin showcases Eleri’s pop susceptibilities as she continues to explore her artistry. Stepping away slightly from her country roots sound, Eleri proves that she’s just as comfortable writing a moodysexy and alluring pop banger. From the get go, her softly provocative vocals take you on a journey building from an almost whisper in your ear to an eruptive passionate chorus.

The lyrics pack that same dreamy imagery that her songs have become known and loved for. New Sin makes you a fly on the wall inside the hallowed walls of Sin City, as you watch the drama of two lovers intertwine and begin a forbidden love. The eerie and seductive production adds to this evoking lyrical story with a heart-thumping beat from long-time producer Lee House (XY&O, Catrin Finch).

New Sin is about the thrill of two lovers, locking eyes and beginning a steamy love affair. I’ve spent many a night out in Sin City and always catch myself observing and soaking in the atmosphere, capturing snapshots of peoples’ lives, in-between a few drinks and dancing – of course.

It’s a love lesson to characters that should know better. Does it become a one-night stand or blossom into something more? I’ll leave that for you to decide.” Eleri teases.

We don’t need reminding that 2020 has been extremely difficult for independent artists but, Eleri Angharad released her single Blank Walls back in April. Since then it has racked up over 150,000 streams on Spotify alone; her biggest success to date! Backed up with positive critical success from influential new music blog Fresh on the Net, hailing the track as Kacey Musgraves meets London Grammar.

The track gained playlisting on numerous influential and sought-after digital playlists. She also created her own her own weekly lives series, Eleri’s Sunday Sessions, a collaborative stream with artists from across the globe.

“I wanted to do something different with a live stream, that would interest people and be more fun for me. So, I created the Sunday Sessions where I invite another artist to come and perform songs alongside me, then we discuss them, what influences them and check in with their lives. We’ve been connecting different music lovers with artists they’ve never discovered before. It’s also led to some exciting collaborations, which you might hear in the future….”

These will also return in coming months, with some new and exciting guests planned.

Eager to help others, Eleri has started her own social media company Mondaay Media after growing her audience substantially over the past year, she wanted to help other artists and small businesses thrive. Eleri also joined forces with singer/songwriter Naomi Rae to create Siren Songwriting, a female song writing community based in Cardiff designed to create a safe, collaborative space for women.

2019, was no gap year either as she finally released her debut album Earthbound to critical acclaim. “Eleri Angharad is most certainly one to watch and takes the listener on a rather impressive journey” – (Rebecca Haslam, God is in the TV Zine) and the title track was added to the Welsh A-List on BBC Radio Wales.

BBC Radio Wales’ Eleri Sion felt transported to the music city by exclaiming “Didn’t we step into Nashville there!” Straight after airing it on her daytime show. Eleri Angharad also managed to squeeze in 3 complete tours covering the UK and mainland Europe over 39 dates, two sell out launch parties in Cardiff and Swansea all to support the release. This was following on from her previous success of her first Welsh language single Dal FiA-listed on BBC Radio Cymru and her music has also been played on by Tom Robinson on BBC 6 Music.

Trash-wave trailblazers, Me Nd Adam, is the depraved result of a relationship between a self-loathing egotist and a boisterous, red-headed emotional wreck. After meeting in New Orleans and hating each other, Adam & Vince parted ways. Unfortunately, there can be no despair without hope, no discord without union, no darkness without light. Thus, Adam & Vince came to realize they had no choice but to embrace their differences and craft the emotionally turbulent, alternative pop duo, Me Nd Adam. Now living the dream in a small apartment in Austin, they’re sharing their hope-tinged despair with the world.

Over the past year, the band has been refashioning its sound, embracing their Texas roots with a traditional rock aesthetic in instrumentation, lyrics, and arrangement, while retaining elements of their original alt electro-pop style. The new vibe is reminiscent of classic American songwriters like Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen with a contemporary twist of pop production like heavy hitters Marshmello and Louis Bell. The band’s influences range from Willie Nelson to Meek Mill, Jason Isbell to Blink 182.

American Drip, Part I, is the musical culmination of a coming-of-age journey across America. After separately fleeing their shared hometown of Austin, meeting in New Orleans, initially hating each other, bouncing to Brooklyn, Los Angeles, and parts beyond, Adam and Vince reconnected and formed Me Nd Adam deep in the heat of a sweltering Big Easy summer. After four rough and rowdy years developing their sound on the road and in the studio, the trashcan cowbois have returned to Texas. American Drip, Part I consists of twelve trash-wave trailblazin’ hits. Buckle up.

Me Nd Adam have garnered millions of streams across DSPs, with their music garnering acclaim from the likes of Rolling Stone, Alt Press, American Songwriter, Wonderland Magazine and The Line of Best Fit. They have also received notable sync placements, such as MTV’s ‘Real World’. The music video for their most recent single “Heartbreak Kid” was a finalist at the Austin Music Video Festival, nominated for Video of the Year.

After honing their live show at venues like Irving Plaza and The Fonda, Me Nd Adam opened to a sold-out crowd for Big Freedia at the Mohawk in Austin. Since then, the band has been tearing through the Austin music scene with appearances at Pride Fest ATX, Mohawk, Emo’s, The Parish and a sold-out headline performance at Stubb’s.

American Drip Part I, is available worldwide via Las Vegas-based indie Handwritten Records.

Wild Youth – one of the most exciting indie-pop bands to emerge from Ireland – reveal “Through the Phone”, a tender pop banger demonstrating yet again what the band have become known for over the years. Opening with melancholic pianos, “Through the Phone” builds to an arena-scaled,
anthemic chorus marked by vibrant acoustic guitars and energetic pop sounds – bringing to life the song’s story of trying to stay connected with loved ones despite physical distance, which is sure to resound on a global scale, capturing the profound loneliness brought on by this year’s global quarantine. Speaking on “Through the Phone”, Wild Youth explained: “This year more than any other, we’ve all felt some form of separation. Through the phone is a song we wrote about that, a song about being away from someone you love. A song about letting them know your love is stronger than ever, and to focus on the good times when you’re together.”

Hot on the heels of “Vaselina” and “Look at Me Now”, Indonesian rap
queen Ramengvrl drops “The Emo Song”, the third and final single before releasing her debut album Can’t Speak English on November 20 th via US label EMPIRE. Ramengvrl’s newest record provides a different side to her talents, highlighting the depth and polish to her artistry. “The Emo Song” takes fans through the veil into the mind and life of Ramengvrl, an intimate look into her hidden battles and unseen struggles. A distinctly restrained vibe to her usual work, “The Emo Song” hears Ramengvrl swap out her trademark witty rap bars for heartfelt singing; the production is built around grunge-esque guitars, pulling at heartstrings with an air of rawness.

Writer, musician and NHS public health consultant Rob Marr is known for penning thought-provoking songs about everyday life that captivate listeners and pull them into a world all of his own making.

His new project – the fascinating Book of Man – has taken his obsession with writing meaningful lyrics and developed it into a brand-new, feature-length podcast drama, beautifully narrated by BAFTA-winner Josh O’Connor (who stars in the Netflix drama, The Crown). This compelling and innovative take on the podcast intertwines the tragic history of four generations of the fathers and sons of the author’s family with original songs, creating a truly immersive storytelling experience. Its themes of vulnerability, death and partial redemption are particularly relevant to our Covid-affected age, where small actions can have huge consequences, lasting generations.

The leading single from Book of Man is the haunting “Death and Comfort”. Written after experiencing the loss of his father, Marr confides how the song’s bruised, tender purpose wrestles with the moment where his father’s mortality became something to be embraced, even welcomed. The lyrics were partly inspired by a description of Aldous Huxley’s death, written by his wife Laura, from Shaun Usher’s Letters of Note. In “The most beautiful death”, she writes a deeply moving and courageous account of her husband’s final hours. Marr explains, “When I wrote the song I wanted to capture something of the spirit of that letter, to write something that was raw and honest and somehow hopeful.”

Sonically, “Death and Comfort” features warm, echoing piano melodies. The piano is the foundation of Marr’s music, a lifelong musical habit that has brought him huge consolation since learning classical piano as a kid. Recorded with a single microphone in one take, it’s truly a song for our times; an unflinching, tender, sumptuously lo-fi goodbye to a much-loved father and husband.

The devastating “Death and Comfort” is the first release from Marr’s third studio (also titled Book of Man) album that will be available in early 2021. The album is composed of songs written for the podcast. Marr says, “With the album I was trying to write a clutch of songs that covered the full range of emotions and experiences. I once saw a Quentin Blake exhibition at the London School of Illustration, and have never forgotten a sketch that captures a character suspended in mid-air, having just been thrown through a window. The songs are intended to work in the same way – they take a key moment and explode it, examine it in detail, providing an emotional counterpoint to the spare, understated narration.”

Rising global techno-pop superstars Giolì & Assia are back with a sincere new track “Rollercoaster,” an ode to the intimacy of falling in love. The song is filled with passion and emotion, which seeps through every lyric sung above the beautiful piano arrangement and pumping bassline. “Rollercoaster” comes shortly after their last release “Hands On Me,” an emotionally powerful anthem that exudes the duo’s much loved unique sound and signature instrumentation.

“Rollercoaster is our favorite composition. We produced and wrote the lyrics in a few hours, one night during the lockdown, and we couldn’t wait to release it since that moment,” the duo stated. “Our life is a Rollercoaster, as artists, as a couple and as humans, the only thing that could help us all to go on and survive to all the changes we have to face everyday, is Love! Hope you will appreciate the story, the romantic melody, and the darkness!”

Peyton Stilling is carving out a niche as a must-see pop singer-songwriter in the vein of Maggie Rogers, Lianne La Havas and John Mayer. Her seamless blend of soulful vocals, heartrending lyrics and polished pop production results in an infectious sound that’ll keep you coming back for more.

Following the release of her debut single “Forest Through the Trees,” which has gained over 200k streams on Spotify alone, Stilling is unveiling the poignant and sincere “Healing.” Inspired by heartbreak, the raw and honest song sees the songwriter letting us into some of her most vulnerable moments. Stilling confides, “Healing was written during quarantine. I’d just broken up with my boyfriend and had to move back in with my parents, and I had no money or job. I had all of this time on my hands, but felt no motivation to write anything.” The track is a form of self-therapy, helping the musician to come to terms with a difficult situation and simultaneously reminding others in similar circumstances that everything will be ok. Stilling shares, “If there is anything I learned in 2020, it is that healing takes a long time. I wanted to write a song that made other people going through what I went through not feel as alone.”

Working with Grammy-nominated, RIAA-certified, multi-platinum production team locknkey, which consists of Moses Elias and Robert Sewell, “Healing” emits captivating, muted tones, silky melodies and sultry vocals. Bleeding with emotion, Stilling has created a relatable and candid anthem for anyone going through a breakup.

Stilling has seen success, having been featured on American Songwriter, Earmilk, NPR Music, Mahogany Sessions, Sofar Sounds, and TreeHouse Sessions. “Healing” is currently available.

This is the first song Michael and I wrote together. I decided to fly him out to Canada to create my new album with me. The recording session began in March, right at the outset of the pandemic. Making a record is normally an isolating experience, but as the world slowly began to shut down, things got increasingly weird! By the second week there were just four of us left and we basically went into self-isolation together.

The recording experience itself was magical, as we approached everything with a very old skool mentality. We already had the orchestral parts down so all we had to capture was the band, and they really took it to the next level. A lot of first takes made this record, and you can hear that authenticity on it.

I escaped from normality to write “Lock and Load,” adopting an alter ego for this track’s dark fantasy of forbidden love and betrayal. Michael and I want you to get lost in fantasy as you listen, just like we did during the writing of this song.

I am looking forward to sharing more from my upcoming album with you!

Pop singer-songwriter Sam DeRosa makes an immaculate debut with The Medicine out now globally via Monument Records.

The highly anticipated 6-track EP from Sam DeRosa is an honest storybook outfitted with relatable lyrics applauded by American Songwriter, Billboard, Flaunt, PARADE, PEOPLE, Refinery29, among many others. Upon graduating from Berklee College of Music, the NY-raised and LA-based artist co-wrote “Broken” – the multi-platinum smash hit by with fellow Berklee student and pop artistovelytheband now marked the longest charting alt-pop-rock song in radio history. Sam’s credits have grown exponentially since, including cuts with Dixie D’Amelio on her groundbreaking #1 debut “Be Happy” featuring blackbear and Lil Mosey (which has surpassed 100M+ streams), Adam Jensen, Jared Lee, Peking Duk and Alisa Xayalith (of The Naked And Famous), Welshly Arms, and more. Now, after years of honing in on her craft and helping others find their voice, Sam DeRosa shines in her own spotlight and gets her due on The Medicine.

A sincere glimpse into the singer-songwriter’s sensibility, the EP opens with “Unfinished.” Sam notes, “I really wanted ‘The Medicine’ to start the whole EP and I knew that I wanted to touch on this idea that maybe this is what it is. Maybe we are just meant to be open-ended and there’s no ending, and there’s no reason for that?”

Also featured on the EP is fan-favorite release “Sad Faces” which comes at a time where we all need to take a moment to pause for a mental health check. The songwriter behind mega-hit “Be Happy” by Dixie D’Amelio continues to step into her own, her slick vocals eclipsing over a magnetic drumline that has you hooked instantly and positions her as not only a force behind the scenes but as a welcomed face in the incredible squad of artists who are sharing ‘sadgirlpop’ with the world (à la Julia Michaels and Sasha Sloan).

Multi-platinum artist, producer, and singer-songwriter Tyler Shaw comes bearing gifts with a cover of the Christmas classic “Maybe This Christmas” – originally by fellow Canadian Ron Sexsmith – via Sony Music.

Ahead of new music slated for 2020 and 2021, the nostalgic holiday song showcases Tyler Shaw’s smooth vocals that warm the heart like a cozy sweater on a cold winter day. Produced by Tyler himself, the rich harmonies and festive production instantly invoke all the feelings of the season and is a perfect addition to your holiday playlist.

There’s also no better time than now to remind your loved ones that you care for them and reevaluate your circle of family and friends. The lyrics to “Maybe This Christmas” builds on that sentiment, “Maybe this Christmas will mean something more. Maybe this year love will appear deeper than ever before. And maybe forgiveness will ask us to call someone we love, someone we’ve lost for reasons we can’t quite recall…”

At the start of lockdown this year, Tyler Shaw (along with Fefe Dobson) spearheaded ArtistsCAN, a collective artist initiative raising funds for COVID-19 relief in Canada. They gathered singers and musicians from across Canada featuring Justin Bieber, Michael Bublé, Sarah McLachlan, Avril Lavigne, Donovan Woods, Walk Off The Earth, and more, to cover “Lean on Me” with all proceeds from the single going directly to the Canadian Red Cross. Other notable names involved include Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Chris Boucher, Shay Mitchell, Trailer Park Boys, and more. The performance was featured on the history making national TV special Stronger Together: Tous Ensemble -the most-watched non-sports Canadian broadcast on record with audiences reaching 11.5M viewers. “Lean On Me” (ArtistsCAN) now has over 10M combined streams globally and racked up international attention in Billboard, Rolling Stone, USA Today, People, Stereogum, and many other high profile publications.

tiny deaths is a Los Angeles, CA based project making moody, dreamy pop. Listening to tiny deaths is like taking a nostalgic trip down memory lane, reminiscing on those hazy memories of warm summer evenings. Like etchings in an old scrapbook, unfiltered hues and muted tones exude a fondness and familiarity, allowing you to see the beauty in all things.

tiny deaths is the moniker of singer/songwriter Claire de Lune. Teaming up with producer Grant Cutler, the music is an exploration of the middle ground between de Lune’s background in R&B and Cutler’s experience in the world of experimental music and high-art sound installations.

In tiny deaths, bass, lush soundscapes and rich, soulful vocals unite to form a wholly alive and fresh take on the dream-pop genre, bringing to mind bands like Phantogram, Beach House, and Purity Ring. Known for penning breakup songs, de Lune’s music often touches on pain – whether it’s heartache, growing pains, nostalgia or bittersweetness, the songwriter creates thematically darker songs, but delivers them through an ethereal and celestial lens.

tiny deaths latest EP If I’m Dreaming, touches on internal exploration and self-discovery. It’s a collection of songs which highlight letting go of all the toxic energy that’s been holding you back from being at peace – whether that’s unfulfilling relationships where you aren’t being treated the way you deserve, or mental health struggles. De Lune shares, “I think in your 20s you’re sort of still figuring out what your demons are and how to confront them and in your 30s it’s more of the exercise of being able to let those things go, to let go of what no longer serves you.”

tiny deaths has seen success receiving numerous notable syncs including Atypical (Netflix series), MTV, ABC and most recently with a placement in the video game Tell Me Why. She has also been featured in publications such as Billboard, Stereogum, The Guardian, Bust Magazine and Bitch Magazine. Having performed alongside acts like Sleigh Bells, Glass Animals, How to Dress Well, tiny deaths is an unstoppable force that you’ll be hearing a lot more from. Devan has been pursuing a music career since she was a kid; the brazen 10-year-old dropped off a homemade demo – to no avail – at the iconic Olympic Studio, home to Ella Fitzgerald, Stevie Wonder and David Bowie. Now in 2020, the Toronto-born/London-raised singer-songwriter is gearing up to release her debut solo project.

Leaning into her wildly diverse musical influences thanks to a transatlantic childhood, Devan is creating her own voice by melding together her heroes, including the poetic songwriting of Joni Mitchell and Neil Young; and the pop vocal production of Florence + The Machine, Adele and Amy Winehouse. Her solo debut “Real Shot” has been described as “mesmerizing” (Wonderland), “pure nostalgia wrapped up in notes and lyrics” (Idobi) and “a magnetic tune that understands the gravitational weight of its pull” (Vanyaland); perfectly setting the stage for Devan’s follow up release “Almost feat. Corey Harper”, due September 25.

Fellow alt-pop singer-songwriter, Corey Harper, has spent the last several years making music and performing on the road in support of artists like Justin Bieber, Julia Michaels, Noah Kahan and Niall Horan. The two met for the first time earlier this year in Los Angeles through mutual friends. “I’ve been a fan of Corey’s music for a long time – he’s got one of my favourite voices,” explains Devan. “The song was originally written on piano, but when we were in the studio, Corey suggested a guitar part that everyone loved so much it ended up becoming the backbone for the song.”

Think of that thrilling and terrifying period of time when you’ve fallen for someone, but don’t yet know if they feel the same. Our new single, “Hopelessly Hoping,” is about those nights spent laying awake in bed picturing life with this person, desperately hoping they feel the same, knowing full well you can’t force someone else’s emotions.

Do you stay up at night and think about me?

Do you toss and you turn ’cause you can’t fall asleep?

Advertisement. Scroll to continue reading.

To turn it into a duet, we created a story where both people feel the connection, but neither is bold enough to let the other know. Mutually wondering if it’s a hopeless endeavour or something greater. The song ends and we still don’t actually have an answer. We’d like to think that it ends happily and they both figure it out.

Hopelessly Hoping” is live everywhere you get your music!

Can’t wait for you to hear it,

Pop songstress Liza Owen releases her brand new single and video for “Starry Eyed” via EPIC Records.

Smashed glasses and self-destruction, smeared lipstick and late-night booty calls: welcome to the messy, imperfect, tear-stained, yet darkly glamorous world of bright young thing Liza Owen.

Half Cambodian, half English, Liza Owen spins pop upside down and all around, with defiantly unfiltered lyrics, undeniable melodies and unapologetic grit. Originally breaking into the business writing songs for the likes of Selena Gomez and BTS, this summer she has quietly been putting her very own inimitable stamp on music, first with her fiery debut single “Why Aren’t We Having Sex?” in the summer, and then with her second single “Getting Good”, a grungy, 90s tinged rock beast which explored the lengths we go to lead ourselves down the wrong paths. Hardly the stuff of most lightweight pop confections, one might say.

All of which brings us neatly to her latest single, “Starry Eyed”, a glittery, wildly infectious anthem in waiting in which Owen lists, in unflinching detail, her most self-destructive tendencies before musing on “suicides and strange addictions…shameless is the new religion” over soaring choruses and gloriously sparkly pop hooks. It also comes accompanied by a brilliant black and white video featuring Owen on the back of a motorbike, pushing boundaries while racing towards oblivion. The visual is directed by Dylan Brewer.

Will Powers is the brainchild of songwriter/multi-instrumentalist/producer Oli Palkovits. Oli won the 2019 NOFMA Outstanding Album award for his 2017 self-release Flowers of Atacama. Following the release, he moved to Montreal, where much of the material that would become the Will Powers’ debut EPs was written. He has since moved back to Sudbury and is currently working on several albums with members of Murder Murder and Tommy and the Commies.

It might be Friday the 13th, but Vancouver musician Quinn Pickering isn’t the superstitious type. In fact, not only is he releasing his new Supernova EP today, he’s also premiering the video for the 3rd single and title track. Watch the ‘Supernova’ video here

Quinn’s Supernova EP is full of dreamy, melancholic vibes with plenty of nostalgia and ghosts of past relationships. While his previous singles Ultraviolet’ and ‘Grapefruit’ examined the end of a relationship, his new single ‘Supernova’ focuses on a new relationship and the feeling of wanting to be someone’s first choice.

‘Supernova’ on the surface may feel like a pop song about a relationship but when you peel back the layers, you’ll find that it explores uncertainty and fear that your partner might not have the same depth of feeling,” says Quinn. “It’s about how you can project those thoughts and emotions to the point that they manifest themselves into reality, threatening the very thing that you’re trying to hold on to.”

At just 20 years old, Quinn is a young singer-songwriter leading a new generation of artists who are redefining the indie music landscape. Raised in New Westminster, BC, to a musical family of Métis descent, Quinn’s interest and passion for music and songwriting led to the formation of his first band, World Is History, when he was just nine years old.

When he started working on his Supernova EP, Quinn wrote and recorded 15 pre-production demos before choosing the 5 songs that ended up on the EP. Executive produced by Howard Redekopp and produced, mixed and engineered by Stefan Nowarre, Supernova showcases Quinn’s youthful energy and love of classic songwriting, and puts his voice at the centre of it all.

“Although there are some big choruses throughout, it’s the intimate moments in contrast that represent what I wanted the EP to feel like,” says Quinn. “Thematically it’s full of stories and vulnerabilities that I’ve experienced in my life up till now told through the lens of an Alt pop production.”

Moxi, a husband – wife indie pop duo from Los Angeles, is built on the dreamy, introspective vocals of Anna Toy set in a cinematic musical landscape composed by Andy Toy.

Drawing on elements of modern pop and 80’s cinema, Moxi presents Anna’s distinct vocals against a backdrop of dark electronic textures, moody guitar sonics and memorable dreampop melodies.

Moxi’s latest single ‘Blame It’, releasing on Friday, November 13 with CatBeach Music, is “a peek into my brain”, explains Anna. “I tell friends a lot that I wish they could just be in my mind for a second because it’s so insane in there lol. There’s a lot of chaos, self sabotage, weird ideas, and a lot of beautiful things too… It can get very dark but it’s also a lot of fun in there. I wrote this song after a fight with Andy. Almost every fight we have is pretty much caused by me and I’m usually the one who behaves horribly before, during and after. I somehow found an absolute angel to marry who accepts me completely as I am, he doesn’t try to change me, he loves me truly despite how absolutely insane I am. Meanwhile I’m over here picking fights, calling names, throwing tantrums. I’ve been a hostage to the noise in my mind and I’ve also had control over it and it seems to fluctuate still but lately I have more days where it’s the later. Blame It is about the inner dialog that goes on in my mind on a pretty regular basis. I fight the voices to an extent but you gotta keep some of them in for the art. Hold out long enough till I start seeing things again.  ‘Blame It’ is a result of that. xx”

With over 200,000 views on their ‘Figures Bathed in Light’ video, Moxi’s other successes to date include over a 1.5 million streams for their single ‘Save Me’, which went viral on Spotify, while also sharing the stage with bands such as Sir Sly, Wildcat! Wildcat and Gungor among others.

Moxi has also received numerous TV placements and global favor, being featured on shows such as Almost Family, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, The Young and the Restless, I Am Cait, Total Bellas, and Made in Chelsea. And they continue to garner acclaim from Huffington Post and Live Nation Ones to Watch among many other media outlets.

Hip hop artist Amon released his new single “Stupid” this week with the music video for the song coming next week on YouTube. “Stupid” is the first in line of great new music from Amon with new singles being released every two week for the next nine months.

A rapper, singer, writer, producer, and engineer, San Diego native Amon can’t be stopped. Independently creating beats and telling his stories on top of them, Amon lives by the motto: no excuses.

As a teenager who dreamed of becoming a professional skateboarder, Amon hit the pavement on the daily. One day, he took a hard fall that left him temporarily immobile. While he was recovering, he began to experiment with music as a cure for boredom. Amon was fascinated by the world of recording. College in Atlanta further fueled his love of creating, and in 2015, he returned to San Diego with a marketing degree in hand and intentions to make music as a living.

Saint Lyor—the Massachusetts-based founding member of Brockton’s Van Buren Records releases the official music video for his track, “THIS IS NOT AN IMAGE” directed by Noah Weisfogel from SMOG.

The official music video for “THIS IS NOT AN IMAGE” is a commentary on the surveillance state of America that attributed to the monitoring, sabotage, and eventual downfall of a lot of historic black leaders. Speaking on the video, Saint Lyor said,

“We pulled inspiration from the 70s where we saw many powerful black leaders fall because of federal investigations that intended to stifle their struggle for equality and economic empowerment. We wanted viewers to understand the thinking and overall energy that manifested out of creating a song like “THIS IS NOT AN IMAGE.” We’ve done our research; we know how parasitic white supremacy can be, but we still remain strong and authentic to the cause…”
