INsiders Guide

INsiders Guide: Zara Larsson, Olivia Rose, Jessie Lee, AJA, Jess Benko, DEFSET, Kizz Daniel, Ludic, Devan, Cooper Phillip, Kate Schutt, Layla Kardan, Kandle, Phil Mitchell Band, Tia Gostelow, David D’Alessio, Casii Stephan, Brother., Bobby Parent, The Revel, YG…

To commemorate International Women’s Day (March 8th), Zara will be hosting an exclusive online concert where she will be performing songs from Poster Girl alongside some of her biggest hits. The livestream will air exclusively on Zara’s YouTube for a limited time courtesy of iconic Swedish business Ikea and presented by Live Nation (subscribe now for more information to follow).

Zara is also treating fans to two new visuals – a live VEVO performance of the title track “Poster Girl” (watch HERE ) and the lyric video for the track “Need Someone” (watch HERE).

No mere ‘Poster Girl’, Zara Larsson is that new kind of pop star. At just 23-years-old, the Stockholm-based sensation has showcased her sixth sense for hit melodies with a series of chart anthems (“Lush Life”, “Never Forget You,” ”I Would Like,” “Symphony” and “Ruin My Life” to name but a few). Her first international album, So Good, became the second most-streamed debut by a female artist ever on Spotify. Its follow up, Poster Girl, marks without a doubt her arrival at Pop’s Top Table. Mixing some of the musical loves of her life (the dance floor melodrama of local heroes Abba, the empowered R&B of early Rihanna) with themes of female empowerment, fame, and finding yourself, Zara has worked on the record alongside a formidable list of collaborators: from Young Thug (on new single “Talk About Love”) and Max Martin to Julia Michaels and Justin Tranter (Selena Gomez, Dua Lipa, Justin Bieber), Steve Mac (Ed Sheeran, Years & Years) and Camille Purcell (Little Mix, Mabel).

Canadian country artist Olivia Rose is excited to be celebrating her newest single, “Gold” – currently available on all digital platforms. It will be
released to Canadian country radio on March 15th. Co-written by Olivia Rose and David Borys (Wes Mack, Kadooh) and brought to life by Juno and
CCMA award-winning producer Bart McKay, “Gold” is the first new music for Olivia Rose since 2019’s single, “Put It Like That”, which has earned almost 120,000 Spotify streams to date and was added to regular rotation on CBC Country (Sirius XM). In speaking about the new track, Olivia Rose says, “I’m not going to lie – my own dating history has led me to write my fair share of sad break-up songs. With David, we went in the opposite direction by starting at the beginning of a relationship instead of at the end, and we came out of it with something happy and upbeat.” Far from a lavish sonic exploration of a high-rolling romantic adventure, the heart of Olivia Rose’s
lyrics is really a nod to the “solid gold” connection that one can form with a true best friend and partner. She says, “I want people to sing this at the top of their lungs in the car with the windows down. Having that perfect match in your life is such a rush and I wanted to capture and celebrate the spirit of that feeling in the lyrics and flow of the song.”

When listening to my new single, “Body Sings,” I hope that you imagine yourself dancing with the person you love, which for me is my fiance.

It’s available now on all streaming platforms. I think about that butterfly feeling you get when the energy is exciting and free.

Body Sings” started off with a groovy bass line from producer Daniel Espina, one of those songs that just flowed because it felt so right! Colourful, and light, it’s meant to emit love and encourage the vibrations we give off in that pure state of love embracing a real connection.

Whether that be with someone else or just yourself, I think we all could use a little bit of high vibes right now!

Press play for an uplifting tune to get lost in.

Revered artist and performer, AJA (they/them) releases their new single, “21 Roads” (featuring Katie Jobes), today. The track is lifted from their forthcoming sophomore album, CROWN, due out this spring. Of “21 Roads,” AJA shares: “On my first single from CROWN, I have three tracks. One is an interlude, one’s the actual song and the third track is a recorded drumming that happened in the studio prior to the album. The beat of the song, the interlude sample of the drums as well as the instruments, singing and chants that are on the drumming — these are traditional songs for Esú Elegba, who is the gatekeeper, and opener of all roads in the Lukumi Faith; which stems from Nigeria.”

AJA incorporates themes of Black spirituality throughout CROWN – as well as fame, race, class, gender, and sexuality. CROWN is ultimately about AJA standing tall and proud while overcoming various hardships and coming to terms with their vulnerability.

AJA brought non-binary visibility into the music industry with their critically acclaimed debut album, Box Office (2019). They have performed epic live shows around the world, dedicated to uplifting their fans – through fashion, an inspiring perspective, brilliant songwriting and outspoken activism – and empowering them to be in front of their own destiny.

Born and raised in the heart of Brooklyn, AJA has become an international role model for people of all backgrounds and has become largely impactful within the LGBTQ+ community. AJA is of Puerto Rican, Nigerian and Egyptian background, and raised by a Puerto Rican and Trinidadian family as they were adopted. Being Afro-Latino from New York City, they put that influence into all of their music. Since the summer of 2018, AJA has performed over 180 live shows, selling out venues in the US, Brazil, Spain, Canada, Australia, Lebanon, and the UK. AJA has also toured throughout Asia and the Pacific Islands.

AJA’s music has received praise from Rolling StoneForbesthemVibeGQV MagazineSeventeenPaperBillboardNew York Magazine’s Bedford + Bowery, and Wussy Magazine amongst myriad other outlets.

I think everyone knows what it feels like to be their own worst enemy. You’re always going to be most critical of yourself. In my new single, “Worst Enemy,” I really wanted to capture how frustrating it can be fighting in your own head over everything.

Worst Enemy” is OUT NOW. Listen wherever you get your music.

A couple months before the session, I wrote down the first two lines of the chorus “no one wants to cry with the radio on, shuffling my music and it’s all sad songs.” It’s about acknowledging the self-sabotage, but recognizing too that it’s part of being human and not letting it eat away at you all the time.

Worst Enemy” was actually one of the first songs I made on a trip to LA late last year. I collaborated with Nick Lopez and Izzy Perri with the intention of creating something a bit different sonically than my past releases while also keeping my identity as an artist and song-writer. I never want to be 100% the same person I was the day before. As I grow as a person, I want my music to grow, too.

You’re not alone in fighting with yourself, those feelings are normal. Your experiences can be used as learning lessons; move along each day without beating yourself up too much.

Be kind to yourself 🙂

Digital Release is a love letter to all things imagined – all the media, movies, video games, books, and stories which allow us to let go of this reality and escape.

This song was really meant to feel like a portal to that world and reflect how it makes us feel. It was heavily inspired by the popular artists of our early youth in order to achieve a nostalgic but fresh identity.

Stream Digital Release via Apple Music, SoundCloud, OR Spotify now!

We have created a mood on Digital Release that is funky and fun, combined with more somber and sensitive moments. It’s very intimate, and seeks to capture what it feels like to get really immersed in a piece of media. You get transported.

The process of releasing my first solo project has been one of finally releasing all these little insecurities. Creating these songs for my new EP has been a tremendous creative and emotional release during a strange time.

Pink Noise was inspired by the messiness of life, particularly the confusion and growth that comes with navigating the shitshow of one’s early twenties.

From “Real Shot” which flirts with regret, to “Conclusions,” which is about asking a loved one to be patient with you as you take time to care for your mental health, this EP represents the uncertainty I’ve felt entering adulthood.

Listen to Pink Noise now on your preferred platform.

The EP features production from Adam Boukis, Quin Kiu, and myself.

Pink Noise is about insecurity, but it’s also about being able to breathe out and feel a sense of relief towards my revelation that my reality is formed by my own perceptions.
My only guideline for writing these songs was to try to be as honest with myself as possible, and follow my instincts without all the self-inflicted barriers that I usually let get in the way.
I often look to music as a comfort and sometimes it even helps me figure out how I’m feeling. I hope these songs and their subject matter help validate your own experiences and emotions.
Thank you for listening,
Devan

Russian born, Los Angeles based pop soul artist Cooper Phillip succeeds in capturing the undivided attention of listeners across the globe. With her intense drive, soaring vocals and passionate songwriting, Phillip is elevating herself to the top of her genre.

Born in a small town in Russia to a family of accomplished classical musicians, her early years were shaped being raised by her grandmother and aunt while her mother, a master violin player, toured around the world with various symphonies. This separation led Phillip to take comfort in music where she was enamoured  by the vocal stylings of Ella Fitzgerald. A young Phillip taught herself Fitzgerald’s songs inside and out, noticing every nuance of phrasing and jazz intonations. Phillip eventually enrolled at the prestigious Moscow State Classical Academy where she studied classical piano, music theory, harp, jazz, blues, ballet and voice. The songstress worked diligently to expand her vocal range and control, taking everything that came in her path and feeding off of the challenge.

Recognizing her daughter’s talent and charisma, Phillip’s mother gave up her flourishing career to accompany a young Cooper on tour throughout Russia. Determined to pursue an international career in music, Phillip moved to New York City at the age of 17. With barely a dollar to her name, the singer worked and hustled, performing in weddings and clubs and sleeping in the storeroom of a restaurant where she sang. It wasn’t easy but she would not be deterred. After a few years in the city, Phillip jumped at an opportunity to sing at an important gig in Los Angeles. She never went back.

Phillip’s music features an underlying theme of strength, grace and empowerment. “I believe we underestimate ourselves often and our fear takes over. My goal is to show people that they are stronger and can do much more than they think they can”, she admits. Using true life stories, hardships and experiences, the songwriter emits authenticity and courage throughout her music.

Cooper Phillip has seen success with her previous single garnering over 10 million listens online. She has also developed an impressive and loyal fanbase, particularly on social media and has performed at some of Los Angeles most prestigious venues.

Music artist, activist and fashion muse Layla Kardan shares the music video for ‘Underwater’, taken from her debut EP ‘Abscission’ – Watch ‘Underwater’ video here

Directed by fashion film maker Jhenyfy Muller and former creative director of Lewis Magazine, and styled by creative director Rabih Rowell – another important figure in the emerging ME fashion scene – the visual continues tackling the social issues Layla has been advocating for, the inclusion and representation of black Arabs in the UAE, Layla explains; “we shot the video after the BLM protests in the USA started, I wanted to cast Ghanaian model Jamal Bright to ensure there was more representation of black artists in our region. My previous video ‘Loyalty’ was shot before the protests, there is a strong scene between the Sudanese and the white actors which we left in the final cut. It is about opening up a discussion on anti-blackness, which has long been a problem in the Middle East, but it is rarely discussed”.

‘Underwater’ is the follow up to recents singles including the Wonderland Magazine-featured-featured ‘Loyalty’‘No Place’ – in which Layla deep dived into a loveless relationship – and ‘You’, which served as an initiation to the empowering journey of loss-love and self-discovery offered by her upcoming EP ‘Abscission’. Highly praised by the likes of GQVogueGirls Are Awesome among others, with Spotify featuring her in SAWTIK – the platform’s new initiative and playlist celebrating female artists playing a pivotal role in shaping the music scene in the Middle East.

Layla is a Third Culture Kid, born in Belgium with Persian roots and Australian nationality, she currently lives in Dubai, her cross cultural background has influenced her music and, which is deeply rooted in human nature and aims to transcend cultural boundaries. Part of the new scene of artists redefining the Sound of the Middle East, Layla is more of a music artist, from working with charities including Unicef on the education of refugee children, to collaborating with some of the biggest fashion brands and including Jean Paul Gaultier, Louis Vuitton and Chanel, as well as publications including Harper’s Bazaar, GQ, Grazia, Vogue and Esquire, with the latter awarding her their Musician of The Year in 2018.

BC-born singer-songwriter, Kandle Osborne, is catharsis personified. Embodying equal parts cabaret chanteuse and ambitious rock singer, she’s covered everything in her inky blues-influenced songs from heartbreak, sexual assault, chronic illness and a loss of power, providing an immense release for her listeners with her treacle-dipped voice. Kandle discovered a true love for music in Nancy Sinatra, Billie Holiday and Shirley Bassey to name just a few. Strong influences from the fierce female greats of a gone era, Kandle writes, and sings exclusively with her heart; something so often void in the modern era of over produced perfection. Kandle sings honest and raw, vulnerable yet empowered, never afraid to pen, even life’s heaviest moments.

After years battling through the infamously cold and stark music industry and finally escaping the shackles of sour recording contracts, Kandle broke free from her label ties in March of 2020, and suddenly found herself in full control of her music.

Having total creative control and freedom to run my business the way I want to… No more lies, no more corruption, no more sexism. I struggle with the workload for sure, and with finding the money to keep going and do all the things a label would do! Having said that, I feel so much happier and more powerful since I’ve stopped being a puppet and trying to do whatever I’m told I should. I only follow my own instincts now and if I make a mistake, it will be my own and I will learn from it.

A Better World by the Phil Mitchell Band is the album the country needs right now. Critics say it’s destined to become the soundtrack of a generation like Dylan, Guthrie and Peter, Paul and Mary.

A Better World is the latest album from the Phil Mitchell Band. The eclectic indie rock group is well-known for blending a multitude of influences to form its wide-ranging sound. This fourth album from the Chicago-based band is influenced by hard rock, rhythm and blues, dance, country, pop and soul.

This album is the culmination of years of experience, hard work and novel inspiration that only occurs once in a while. The production is solid. A Better World is a kaleidoscope of different genres and styles.

A Better World has a very good timing in the sense that it was released in a time and a place where we have been drowned in negativity and sadness due to the pandemic,” said writer Kevin Tanza. “There are very uplifting messages in the lyrics.”

Mitchell has drawn pain and inspiration from the COVID-19 pandemic, the current economic worries and the country’s political uncertainties while writing and composing the album. From the first track to the eleventh, the songs run the gamut of human emotions — love, fear, loss and hope.

“The mixture of male and female vocals only adds to the variety,” wrote freelance music journalist Alex Faulker. “But, most importantly, there are several songs here that are potentially huge hits and the album as a whole deserves to be a huge success.”

Phil Mitchell’s Band A Better World is streaming now on Spotify and Apple Music.

Tia Gostelow turned heads in 2018 with the release of her Queensland Music Award Album Of The YearTriple J Feature album debut record Thick Skin.  Tia Gostelow’s second album Chrysalis is out now and is produced by Oscar Dawson (Holy Holy, Alex Lahey). The eleven track album features lush pop landscapes with danceable 80’s influences. Chrysalis album orders for vinyl, CD and new merch are all available HERE

“Chrysalis touches on really personal moments of my life over the last 2 years. I wrote these songs when I was living by myself in Brisbane and when I was in probably the loneliest and most anxious state I’ve been in. I’ve found it really difficult to navigate life being away from my family and my partner, I’m such a family orientated person so when I was living by myself in a big city it really took a toll on me mentally. I feel like dealing with these emotions and putting them into these songs helped me overcome those feelings.” – Tia Gostelow

Fans can hear an album rich with nods to her indie, guitar folk past, while celebrating a world of dance floors and blurry festival weekends with songs.

“Before the songs were even finished I knew I wanted Oscar Dawson to produce the record. He’s a gun and I was obsessed with all of the music coming out that he was producing. I met up with him in Brisbane and we instantly got along so well. Going into record this album  I obviously knew a bit more than I did recording ‘Thick Skin’ and I was a bit more inclined to have more involvement musically. I played bass, piano and synth on some songs which was really important to me and I’m so grateful that Oscar was so patient with me. He really pushed me to go to places vocally and musically that I probably wouldn’t have done without him which I am also super grateful for!” – Tia Gostelow

Tia Gostelow’s “Strangers” has cracked over 12 Million streams on Spotify just a few months after the single was certified Gold. The song featured on Tia’s debut album Thick Skin which picked up a Queensland Music Award for Album Of The Year, Triple J Feature album which added to her ever growing list of accolades including her last several singles being added to high rotation on Triple J and stations around Australia and internationally.

Nobel Prize winner and famed poet T. S. Casii Stephan is a soul pop/rock artist hailing from Minnesota. Now based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the impassioned songstress evokes subtle vibrato notes and roller-coaster-like melodies, which immediately grab the listener, while her emotional lyrics share intimate stories. She has been compared to the likes of Florence Welch, Fiona Apple and Carole King, as her vocal timbre possesses a full and warm quality.

Stephan’s voice is fierce and fearless, but this was not always the case. She grew up shy and afraid of her voice until she started writing songs on the family piano in South St. Paul when she was 16. In music, she discovered something extraordinary that allowed her to transcend everyday life and find a deeper sense of self. Stephan moved to Tulsa in 2014 with the intent to give up her pursuit of a music career, however with a little encouragement from a friend, she continued her journey and started releasing music. Her songs were promptly applauded by critics and have since been racking up a number of awards, as well as garnering acclaim from media and fans across the globe.

An underlying theme throughout Stephan’s music is hope, she explains, “Its such a cliched word and yet there are so many layers to it. Hope keeps us alive. It keeps us moving. But it also feels flighty some days like a pixie that does what it wants. But it’s not a pixie. It’s more like the air we breathe. Some days it’s presence is stronger than we realize and some days we forget in our day-to-day lives that it’s there… keeping us moving forward”. Her music combines her love for the storytelling elements of Disney ballads and the bold, brilliance of The White Stripes, as well as the soul-wrenching R&B melodies of H.E.R.

Casii Stephan has seen success both obtaining and being nominated for multiple awards from the likes of Independent Music Awards, Hollywood Music in Media Awards and USA Songwriting Competition to name a few. She also heads a female fronted festival entitled MisFEST in Tulsa, that has gained recognition both locally and nationally. The singer-songwriter is set to perform at Sundance Festival and was also recently profiled in Billboard. Continuing to craft real, authentic, soulful music with the intention to help others feel a little less alone, Casii Stephan is releasing “Here Comes the Light” is out now.

Brother. is an indie alternative band based out of Salt Lake City, Utah. Bringing together an eclectic sound of energetic bass lines, catchy soundscapes and heavy-laden harmonies, band members Chuck Emery, Nathan Standage, Erika Goodwin, Scott Knutson and Elias Pratt deliver an infectiously charismatic, laid-back sound.

Their latest single ‘EZ’ is the result of wanting to put more honesty into their music and lyrics, creating something that felt fresh and modern while still staying true to their sound. Written over the 2020 lockdown, Emery confides, “I felt like my whole world was ending. All of our plans for touring, releases and our goals were halted. I had worked so hard on setting it all up and all of it was canceled. The uncertainty of what the future held threw me into a deep depression with intense anxiety and panic attacks. After months of struggle, I realized the best thing for me was to slow down and take it easy.”

Slow woozy drums and characterful chiming synths that run along the song, the dreamy vocals are soft and rich, floating effortlessly atop the fuzzy guitar and subtle, steady bass. The song’s aura has a hazy, chilled-out atmosphere with an underlying tone of both acceptance and pain. Finding influence in the likes of The Neighbourhood and Porches, “EZ” takes a minimal approach, soaked in vintage synth sounds and an overall warm, easy indie vibe.

Following the notion that simplicity and lyrical authenticity is the perfect combination in curating a raw tune, the band stayed true to the classic country music recipe of, “All you need is three chords and the truth.” Brother. have crafted a song that is comforting for many after the devastating effects of the pandemic, with “EZ” being the reminder to slow down and recenter yourself, as everything will be alright in the end.

The five-piece band are no stranger to being on the road, having toured through Utah, Idaho, Nevada, California, Colorado and New York, with dates set up in London and Paris. Alongside the touring hustle and bustle, Brother. have had their music placed on popular TV shows including Teen Mom 2 and Nancy Drew.

“I saw an angel in the marble and I carved till I set him free” – a Michelangelo quote that would be etched in my mind as I started on my new journey in sobriety. A journey that, at first, would reveal the painful truth about myself and then reveal the genuine beauty and generosity of others. Finally with all my desperation and vulnerability revealed and all my substantial failures confessed, I could be free. Free to have others lead me, free to have others teach me, free to start over.

The album, Real Love, is in part about that spiritual journey and in part about the rediscovery of music and art. I wrote these songs to help me heal and to help me grow. “Emotionally insecure, wrought with fear, anger and self-doubt…all of it, buried under an ego designed to deceive and manipulate the truth of who I was to others and to myself” – this is the harsh and critical self-analysis where the story of Real Love begins.

Addiction and alcoholism defined almost my entire adult life. They were the tools I would use to self-medicate from a disease I didn’t know existed, or at least one that I couldn’t dare admit to having. A disease that eventually, would destroy, from the outside in, everything I ever knew or cared about. My family, my friends, my career, until it had nothing else to destroy but me. By the end of the chaos, with everything and everyone that was ever important to me, injured and gone, I was left with one critical question. How do I move on from here?

NJ Rock band, The Revel, today release their new single “And It Goes,” from their upcoming 2021 EP.

“And It Goes” sees the band lock into an airtight four-on-the-floor groove as the momentum builds towards a swaggering chant. The song features Dean’s dominating vocals over a steady groove led by drummer, Kyle Smith. This groove builds up to an explosive chorus and addictive hook, characterized by energetic chanting. Dillon’s lively guitar riff brings a classic rock ‘n roll feeling to the song that exhibits the group’s rebellious essence. This new single is yet another song that showcased  The Revel’s rock ‘n roll roots demonstrated by their commanding presence through their music.

“The goal was to write something that would get stuck in your head no matter what,” Dean explains. “We’re combining this earworm vibe with meaningful lyrics. We really play every card on it. The recording process came naturally to us with this song; we all felt the direction.

Dillon continues, “We’ve got this unbelievable chemistry. We’re so close now it’s like we can read each other’s minds. It completely opened up Pandora’s Box. We decided to capture that. Writing ‘And It Goes’, the intention was clear to get people to dance and move, but doing it with meaning and truth.”

The Revel’s 2019 EP, Don’t Let Me Go, received praise from American Songwriter, The Aquarian, and many more. American Songwriter wrote, “Dillon and Dean are…doing what they love, rocking out – Dean with his powerful and soaring vocals positioned next to Dillon’s groovy guitar licks – What more would you want?”

“And it Goes” was produced by Jimmy Gnecco (Ours) and was mastered by the Grammy Award winning Emily Lazar at The Lodge. Emily’s many credits include Foo Fighters, Vampire Weekend, The Rolling Stones and Coldplay among others.

This song is the next step in the rock and roll ladder that The Revel has been building since 2017. After performing alongside icons such as Bon Jovi, Buckcherry, Joyous Wolf and others, they roared to life on a series of independent singles and with their upcoming 2021 EP, they will continue to bring a modern lens to the rock and roll they love.

The seven-track project sees these three powerhouses light up the West Coast and ignite a new era of California hip-hop in the process. On the first track “OP Vibes,” the YG & D3 tear through anxious 808s with tenacious bars and an ominous refrain. Bass-y piano bolts down D3’s bullet-riddled “Yellow Tape” [feat. DDG] before another hard-hitting hook, while airy guitar wraps around “Roxanne.” Everything culminates on the punchy anthem “My Bruddas” where D3 and YG link with Tay2Xs for one last slick salvo.

Olivia Morreale debuts her second single, “PARASOMNIA,” from her forthcoming EP, SPACE DREAMS. “PARASOMNIA” comes on the heels of her first single, “NO ANSWER,” which was released in late January and introduced listeners to her unique blend of synthy indie-pop.

“PARASOMNIA” is a dreamy wonderland of gauzy synths, infectious bass and intricately layered vocal chops. Inspired by the way in which subconscious thoughts and desires are unlocked through dreams, it was important to Olivia for the song to lyrically and sonically reflect the innermost psyche. “It sounds like a normal pop song until the breakdown/bridge, where it warps into a sort of nightmarish and dark space,” she writes. “We [Olivia and her co-collaborator, Eli Koskoff] let the idea of a nightmare and of the thoughts we can’t control be our guiding force during the production.”

Olivia Morreale grew up in a household soundtracked by jazz greats like Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, and Ella Fitzgerald. When she moved to New York City for high school, she became infatuated with the city’s underground jazz scene and the collaborative nature of the genre. She’d been dabbling with piano and singing from a young age, but her foray into songwriting took flight when she moved to LA to attend USC. Melding her jazz background with her new immersion in the pop utopia of Los Angeles, Olivia started to pave her own sonic journey, resulting in a sound inspired by synth-pop, chillwave, jazz, and soul. Her music is timeless and refreshing all at once.

In addition to her own releases, Olivia has toured as a background singer for Engelbert Humperdinck and was featured as a star vocalist on Jason “Spicy G” Goldman’s Hypnotized EP. Her ethereal, distinctive vocals have been her long standing calling card and her forthcoming EP, SPACE DREAMS, is a chance for her uniquely hypnotic cadence to take centerstage.

Coral Palms are a four-piece indie pop band conceived and created in Torquay, Devon. Now, currently based in London, band members Ollie, Will, Adriano and Callum deliver an infectious, breezy sound, planting palm trees and warm summer memories in your head. Lining every open road with a feeling that the sun’s still shining and driving you and your soul to somewhere light, bright and boozy, Coral Palms create a sound which is truly addictive.

When a band’s vocalist is also their drummer, it’s time to buckle-up and inspect the unexpected. Their debut single, “Echoes” is aptly named for a track that keeps coming back to you. It vibrates with Ollie’s upfront percussion and carries the kind of complex, old-school structuring that instantly feels like it’s been on your indie playlist since playlists began. Lyrically conversational, engaging and at times, confrontational, this is a love song of our times. The pairing of Will and Adriano’s guitars bring an overwhelming authenticity while Callum on bass never lets you sit down to listen. Punctuated and played with surprises and depth, it speaks of universal heartbreak and trust, doubt and denial with a very British voice.

Coral Palms take the modern, indie music that brought them together: Two Door Cinema Club, Foals, Fickle Friends, Noisey – the list goes on, and marry it to the feelings they get from anywhere and everywhere. Their loves, their stories, memories of music past and people present. Anything from Quincy Jones to David Bowie, if it moved them, they will make it move you. While these are big shoes to fill, it’s flip-flops only for a British beach band produced by Adriano, with meticulous originality.

There aren’t many bands who write music that feels like the personal, private property of several generations. But Coral Palms, thanks to old-fashioned hard graft, natural talent and the very highest standards, manage to bring the soul-lifting feel of a never-ending summer to new heights. Ollie and Will confide, “A lot of the themes in our lyrics revolve around youthful disarray, angst and of course romance, but musically, we really just wanted to make tunes that we know we’d bop to at festivals or at a party.”

Grab a cold beer, feel the sand between your toes and dance beneath a blood orange sunset, but pay close attention. This is no ‘Spring Break’, this is indie pop wrapped in nostalgia with a contemporary cutting edge. The great British Summer may never sound the same again.

Scottish singer and songwriter Roseanne Reid shares emotive cut ‘Fly High’, the third single taken from her upcoming EP ‘Horticulture’, set for release on April 10th, via Last Man – Stream ‘Fly High’ here.

Talking about the song, Roseanne says; “‘Fly High’ was written after the sudden loss of a friend. I wanted to tread the line between processing and articulating my own feelings, and remembering him purely for who he was and what he gave to the world. The song could have gone either way – in the end I felt the best way to honour him is to write what came most naturally to me and sing it in the way it came out in the first couple of takes.”

Entirely written and home-recorded during lockdown by Roseanne herself with Graham Coe on cello and mixed by The Who and Manic Street Preacher’s producer Dave Eringa, ’ is the follow up to , which premiered on‘You Underestimate Me’ BBC Scotland’s Another Country with Ricky Ross last December and the recently released ‘Tentsmuir Sky’.

Lockdown and cancelled tours in 2020, saw Roseanne perform series of popular live streams from her garden. Inspired by her interest in horticulture, she enrolled in a degree course whilst also learning music production and recording techniques. These two new skills created the basis for the forthcoming EP ‘Horticulture’, a four-track collection of new songs due for release as a special edition vinyl in April 2021. Last year Roseanne was nominated for Song Of The Year at the UK Americana Awards for ‘Amy’, this year Roseanne played an exclusive live streamed show during the AmericanaFest UK.

Opening for Teddy Thompson in 2022, Roseanne will support his 12 dates tour starting at Glasgow’s Oran Mor on 21st January 2022, touching London’s Earth Theatre on 28th January, before ending at Manchester’s Band On The Wall on 3rd February –more info and tickets here.

Today at 10 AM ET, a lyric video for “Endlesslly” will be available here: https://Chevelle.lnk.to/EndlesslyLyricVideo

NIRATIAS is an acronym for Nothing Is Real and This Is a Simulation, and it represents the band at their dimension-blurring best.  The body of work twists and turns through crushing guitars and haunting melodies like a cosmically heavy roller coaster at the edge of existence. The instrumental opener “Verruckt” sets the tone with its gnashing distortion and laser-precise groove. “So Long, Mother Earth” doubles as a eulogy for our planet carried by an overpowering scream and searing solo. Clocking in at almost six minutes, “Ghost and Razor” culminates on one final distorted exorcism before a pensive spoken word echoes barely above a whisper on “Lost In Digital Woods.

NIRATIAS stands out as the band’s most pummeling and provocative record yet. Teaming with longtime producer Joe Barresi, Chevelle recorded throughout 2019 and 2020 and pieced together an intriguing and inimitable body of work, with themes that will reveal themselves soon.  The album artwork is by Boris Vallejo. The famed and award-winning artist is responsible for the posters used for films like Knightriders and National Lampoon’s Vacation, as well as iconic 70’s and 80’s science fiction novel covers and magazines (such as Heavy Metal).

Throughout their career, Chevelle have transformed rock music as tried-and-true outliers. The multiplatinum Chicago rock band have generated close to 1.7 billion global streams, earned 11 number one hits, and sold out shows worldwide. Their catalog spans the double-platinum Wonder What’s Next highlighted by the double-platinum smash “The Red” and platinum “Send The Pain Below” as well as the platinum This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In) and gold Vena Sera. They’ve landed four Top 10 debuts on the Billboard Top 200, including Sci-Fi Crimes [2009], Hats Off to the Bull [2011], La Gárgola [2014], and The North Corridor [2016]. The latter two each captured #1 on the Top Rock Albums Chart.

With NIRATIAS, get ready to lift off with Chevelle as they elevate into another stratosphere in 2021.

As Tyler Shaw closes the chapter on his acclaimed “When You’re Home” single, he delights listeners with an even gentler rendition of his most romantic song to date. Leading up to his next release, the piano version of “When You’re Home” is captivating in its tenderness. With a charming piano melody that is complemented by gorgeous violin swells, Shaw takes the passion of the original rendition and transforms it into a deeply-intimate serenade.

This rendition continues the momentum Tyler has built leading up to his third LP. “When You’re Home” was Tyler’s first release in 2021 and originally produced by Grammy-award nominated Jon Levine (Dua Lipa, Alessia Cara, Bebe Rexha, Drake), and written by Tyler Shaw, Alex Beitzke (James Arthur), and Henry Brill (Jack Garrat). Garnering praise from publications including 1883 Magazine, American Songwriter, Marie Claire, Parade, EUPHORIA., plus a wealth of international playlists including  Spotify’s ‘New Music Friday’, Apple Music’s ‘New Music Daily’ and the cover of Amazon Music’s ‘Fresh Pop’, the world is taking note of Shaw’s talents.

The “When You’re Home” piano version shows Tyler’s prowess in taking one song in a multitude of dynamic directions. It’s no surprise “When You’re Home” was dubbed one of the best love songs of 2021 (so far) by Marie Claire, raving, “‘When You’re Home’ is the type of love song we could all use these days as we redefine what it means to feel safe and secure at home.” With each take, Tyler shines in a way that keeps each version fresh, exciting, and leaves listeners finding out more. Last month, Tyler released the exhilarating electronic dance version of the single with world renowned Canadian DJ and producer Dzeko. Through a stimulating house production the two transformed “When You’re Home” into an infectious club track. Now, with the release of “When You’re Home,” the remix and this latest version, Tyler’s momentum continues to rapidly rise as he breaks into both the US and UK.

Raina Sokolov-Gonzalez is a singer/composer based in Brooklyn, New York. Born into a family of musicians, music was Raina’s first language and it runs deep within her veins. Rooted in Jazz and R&B, the songwriter invites us into her unique sonic world with harmonic nuance and lyrical poetry.

Raina’s cross-genre style is built from the bottom up. With improvisation as a starting point for her songs, Raina draws on her emotionality and leans into her perception of the world around, uncovering hidden depths within daily life and articulating personal truth with vulnerability and bravery. Songwriting is her way of processing and understanding life in all its complexity. Her latest single “Better For You” grapples with the gaze, focusing on the experience of being objectified and the ambiguous response to this reality. The song is most explicitly about sex and the ways in which heterosexual dynamics often prioritize men’s pleasure. “Better For You” highlights the ways in which women contort themselves physically and emotionally to be more desirable. Raina shares, “It also depicts the flip side of this, where we become or can become hooked on being the desired one; the way we come to need it, the way our identity becomes tied to this positioning. This is the ambiguity, the grey.” Drawing on her Latinx heritage, the rhythmic piano phrases, dynamic instrumentation and a grooving rhythm section provide a hypnotic backdrop for Raina’s clear and concise vocals.

The accompanying video is a depiction of different aspects of self and their varied responses to the same encounter. The parallel progression of the character in the orange world untying the ribbons and the character in the yellow world becoming emotionally undone, represents an unraveling, a release from the constraint of the gaze, a coming into her own rawness and vulnerability, co-existing with her strength all at once.

With over 600k streams on Spotify and a budding global audience, RSG has packed rooms at prestigious venues such as Brooklyn Bowl, SOB’s, Rockwood Music Hall, MoMA PS1 and many others. Opening for artists such as Starchild and the New Romantic, Raina has a deep connection to the New York City music scene. She has performed for 3-time Grammy Award winning singer Marc Anthony, who took a strong interest in her music, as well as having had the honor of working with Jazz composer William Parker, performing with him on stage and appearing on his albums.

“Better For You” is the first single to be released off of the upcoming album IF THEY’RE MINE, due spring 2021.

rising alt-pop duo Bahari return with two new singles entitled “Bipolar” and “Jackie Kennedy. Get “Bipolar” HERE and “Jackie Kennedy” HERE via Bahari Music, LLC/Epic Records and watch the official music video for “Bipolar” HERE.

Both songs embrace the duo’s unique talent in making the extremely personal universal.  “Bipolar” bottles the ups and downs of a manic relationship into a piano-laden, emotional meditation. Strains of soft keys echo beneath a lyrical push-and-pull punctuated by the reprise, “Sometimes, I love you. Sometimes, I hate you. The glitchy bridge breaks underneath the weight of one resounding confession, “I’m fucking crazy for you.” The accompanying music video juxtaposes the bliss of two couples with relationship tension and strife. It depicts the girls—Ruby Carr and Natalia Panzarella—in the throes of this tumult with claustrophobic closeups and intense vignettes. S

Says Ruby, the song “represents the polarizing ups and downs of a relationship. The feelings of being everything to someone, yet nothing at all. This song highlights the push and pull and emotional rollercoaster of being in love. How beautiful it can be but also how hard it is. It’s about our first real love that each of us experienced, and how challenging it can be trying to maintain a healthy relationship whilst struggling with our own mental health, and how deeply ones mental health can affect a relationship. It’s about that burning passion, high highs and lowest of lows.”

The rapidly ascendant, LA-via-Hampshire, British Cambodian pop star Liza Owen shares an epic new single today, titled “JOSIE” via Epic Records.

Following singles, “Why Aren’t We Having Sex?”, “Getting Good” and “Starry Eyed”, “JOSIE” is yet another formidable addition to her musical arsenal – a soaring and anthemic ballad, albeit one underscored by dark lyrics about a friendship gone sour. Once again, Liza flexes her distinctively genre-bending style and taste, with her powerful vocals and wildly infectious take on modern pop further cementing her as one to watch this year.

Liza further explains, “JOSIE was born out of a conversation in the car on the way to the studio. I was recounting a story about some recent drama in my relationship regarding an ex of my partners. I was telling my friends & co writers Ali Tamposi

& Paul Phamous that ‘Josie ‘ was back in town… the rest is history”

“JOSIE” also comes accompanied by a gorgeously widescreen video directed by Aisha Schliessler and shot, appropriately, in one seamless take at the Sunset Hollywood Villa – a staple Bond movie location. At once sweet, strange and oh so slightly sinister – that is Liza Owen to a tee.

Late last year Monsta X released their 3rd full-length album, Fatal Love, alongside their music video for “Love Killa.” Bringing their talents to the next level, their story, which has been condensed over the past six years, is meant to give you a feeling of thrill as if you’re solving a mystery. While the past albums mainly drew keywords of empathy and consolation, this album showcases the deadly temptation of a man; along with a thriller movie-esque storyline.

“Love Killa” conveys the strong desire and temptation over a loved one, to the extent that they would give up everything to get one’s love. In the music video, the members turn into six cruel and beautiful “Love Killa’s,” tapping into the maniacal vibe of films such as Joker, Hannibal Lecter, Fight Club, Silence of the Lambs and American Psycho. “When you’re a kid or a baby you think love is a simple thing,” Rapper I.M tells Refinery 29 “You think, ‘Love: that’s my family, my teddy bear, that’s my favorite thing!’ But as we get older, and we learn more about the world around us, you see how the world is complicated, and therefore love seems more complicated, too.”

The Long War is a shared battle story between five people who have each fought to actualize their dream of becoming musicians. Unified onstage, in the studio and on record they are a shared belief, proof that the journey is worth the war.

But if not for one fateful night in Dawson City, The Long War might have never happened. It was there that singer/songwriter Jarrett Lee landed after leaving his hometown of Ottawa, a frustrated and disillusioned cover musician. He traveled across Canada trying to make sense of life. Inevitably, he ended up another lost soul drawn to the silence of the Yukon. It was there, under the northern lights, that the spell was broken. His muse was born on the horizon and the songs began to spill out of him.

An invisible pull guided Jarrett toward Vancouver and his next chapter – autobiographical tales that reflect the landscapes and places that have inspired him as well the people who have come and gone throughout it all. “I see the world as a collage of moving pictures and so I try to write and produce songs that capture the cinematic essence of life.”

I am writing to you to share “Fly Off” featuring Claire Ridgely, taken from Here You Can Leave Me, my upcoming EP out on March 25th. This song is an ode to letting go and focuses on releasing one’s inhibitions with that special someone, even if it’s just for the night.

Fly Off” came together quickly, with everything from the synths I chose to the drum sound design and sequencing happening in a single take.

Claire Ridgely recorded her vocals remotely, killing it in one go – we didn’t have any back and forth once she sent the vocals, which speaks to her sheer talent as a singer and songwriter.

Have you ever felt yourself outgrowing the place where you live?Observing how almost everyone seems to go to the same schools to get the same jobs to afford the same houses, go to the same bars every weekend, and attend the same church each Sunday morning. My new song, Nowhere Town,” was written about my experience growing up in a smaller city as an artist with bigger dreams than my city could support. I am so grateful to have been brought up in Peterborough. There was always a stage for me and that was a comfortable feeling, but I wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone and continue to grow as an artist outside of my hometown. You can listen to Nowhere Town via your preferred streaming service now.I worked with producer Sam Woywitka to record this track, transforming it from its origins on the acoustic guitar by slowing the tempo and adding an angelic synth which morphs throughout the song.Nowhere Town is very meditative and empowering to me.It’s a reminder not to let other people influence what you are able to achieve and believe in.You don’t need to let the opinions of others make you feel ashamed.Thank you for taking the time to listen! I look forward to sharing more new music with you.Lauryn Macfarlanehttps://laurynmacfarlane.com/

King Park has been turning out mercurial, high-contrast indie rock since they released their 2017 breakout track, “Stay.” Gritty and lush, the quartet’s sound mirrors the antitheses of their hometown, Hamilton, Ontario: on the one hand, blue-collar and raw, and, on the other, artful and lovely.Following their self-released debut EP, The Light I Can’t See, King Park won the 97.7 HTZ-FM’s Rock Search 2018 contest, which helped launch other Canadian rock groups like Finger Eleven, the Trews, and Glorious Sons. The basement-to-ceiling intensity of their live show has since continued to earn them a growing and devoted following across southern Ontario. At the heart of the group you’ll find childhood friends and musical co-conspirators Timon Moolman (vocals, guitar) and Tyler Heemskerk (bass, vocals), rounded out more recently by guitarist Brenden Campbell and the animated Nate Wall on drums.

West London’s Kyzino is a rapper that has been infiltrating the streets in recent months with his honesty and attitude. Focusing his lyricism on the highs and lows of a young man trying to find his feet in the jungle of London, he is breaking through as an exciting artist to keep a close eye on.

STREAM/PURCHASE: KYZINO – FAMILY TIES

Releasing YouTube videos and uploading tracks independently to Spotify and Apple music for the infancy of his career, Kyzino has developed his sound and style whilst staying on the move. Experimenting with wavy melodic drops and grittier 808’s, the 22 year old’s` new single ‘Family Ties’, envelopes his evolution to date, and has a confident demeanor to its output, which sets him on firm ground for his 2021 rollout.

Muscling in on a Bruskii Kyy beat, with a snappy delivery, Kyzino hits the drill drops and the sweet overlay of keys to allow a wider access to driller beats than is usually found. Whilst keeping it true to himself and the environment he’s grown up in, the message remains potent. Kyzino explains: “Family Ties represents the unconditional bond between brothers who will always be there to support you, a team full of members whose best interest is the success and safety of one another”. Featuring RD3 on the record, the pair chop it up to deliver a serious record that lays the foundation for Kyzino’s upcoming mixtape ‘Paid & Posted’.

The fight for the WBO cruiserweight title between Lawrence Okolie and Poland’s Krzysztof Glowacki will take place on March 20th. One of the brightest stars in UK Boxing, Lawrence Okolie has an exceptional 15-0 (12 KO) boxing record and as he prepares for the biggest fight in his career so far, he delivers an unexpected punch as he debuts his aptly titled ring walk record, and first release as a musician, ‘TKO’.

STREAM/PURCHASE: LAWRENCE OKOLIE – TKO

A kee music enthusiast, Lawrence kept himself busy by pursuing his other passion; music, throughout the summer of 2020 when he was unable to train due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. “The song was recorded in Hackney, close to where I grew up”, says Lawrence of the hard-hitting, rap record produced by IVN. Featuring his staunch and distinctive baritone vocal, ‘TKO’ hears Lawrence weigh in heavy with considered bars about his undefeated skills and lavish lifestyle, presenting a whole new dimension to his evolving character.

MUSIC VIDEO: LAWRENCE OKOLIE – TKO

Lawrence’s story is nothing short of extraordinary and whilst his rap debut may come as a surprise to some, understanding his journey not only illustrates just how exceptional and determined he is, but also how differently life could’ve been for him. Less than 10 years ago, Lawrence Okolie worked in McDonalds and was being warned by doctors to lose weight as he was classed as obese. In 2012, between his shifts, Lawrence had a life changing event when he watched the London Olympics and managed to catch Anthony Joshua’s gold medal victory, it was all he needed to see, and within one Olympic cycle he went from an obese teenager to an Olympian, representing Great Britain at Rio in 2016. Now the World Title hopeful, Lawrence Okolie has since dominated the European cruiserweight scene over the past two years, remaining unbeaten in 15 fights, most recently boxing at Wembley Arena December 12th and a full circle moment as the main support to Anthony Joshua.

Carrying his discipline and unshakeable courage to pursue his passions, Lawrence Okolie joins the rich tapestry of East London’s musicians and the Black British Music Scene with a confident, bold and inspiring stance, he explains: “My story could belong to anyone. I want to inspire kids like me to do things the right way like I have done. To work hard, to make sacrifices and enjoy the rewards. That’s what it’s about.’

With the world title fight scheduled for 20th March and ‘TKO’ providing the soundtrack to his ring walk, Lawrence Okolie’s career is most certainly worth keeping an eye on, both in and out of the ring.

LA-based pop darling CAPPA is premiering the official music video for her new single, “Colder.” The single, which was released in late February, is a testament to CAPPA’s knack for creating catchy yet clever pop numbers. Navigating the residual emotions after the demise of a relationship, “Colder” is an instantly infectious track tethered by snappy pop grooves, sparkly synths, and CAPPA’ signature honeyed vocals.

The neon-hued music video was directed by Bradley Dunn and filmed at The Barracks in LA. “The inspiration behind the video was to create a world where it felt like a relationship was ending,” CAPPA writes of how the video brought the song’s emotionally-charged lyricism to life.

Since her 2015 breakout, “Hush,” which premiered on SPIN and was later featured in a Victoria Secret ad, CAPPA has released two EPs – ‘CAPPA‘ & ‘Queen of Hearts‘ – and a steady stream of effervescent singles. Over the years, CAPPA has been championed by key tastemakers like NYLON, Glamour, Entertainment Weekly, and Billboard. Her songs can also be heard on hit TV shows like Riverdale, Selling Sunset, and Siesta Keys, as well as in commercials for Lady Gaga’s HAUS Laboratories and Under Armour.

Originally hailing from Philadelphia, CAPPA first landed in Nashville and quickly became synonymous with the emerging pop scene there. Buoyed by her success in Nashville, CAPPA made the leap to Los Angeles a few years back and has continued to expand her resume as an artist, songwriter, and vocalist. Well-known for her hypnotic vocal stylings, CAPPA has featured on tracks for major electronic acts like SNBRN, Dirty Audio Justin Caruso, and TELYKast, and curated an exclusive vocal sample pack for SPLICE.

Joan released her latest single ‘Home’ produced by Julian “J3P0” Pollack along with a music video filmed in Vancouver. The song is a reflection on life; fueled by the experience of leaving home and family for the first time. In the song Joan asks “Where will I go and what will I see? Where will I find home and where will it find me?” Questions that have new meaning in light of this past year; one that in many ways was defined by isolation, unpredictability, and the heartache of distance from our loved ones.

singer and songwriter Robyn Sherwell shares ‘To Give Up’, the first single taken from her upcoming new album ‘Unfold’, due for release on June 18th – Stream ‘To Give Up’ here – Pre-order ‘Unfold’ here.

Written by Robyn herself, and co-produced with long term friend and collaborator Jonas Jalhay – whose credits include artists such as DJ Khaled, Rag’n’Bone Man and James Blake – the new cut serves a pulsating slice of electronic alt-pop. Lyrically empowering, Robyn reflects on the challenge of leaving a dysfunctional situation. With almost relentless propulsion, cycling percussive rhythms tick away through the song like a time-bomb waiting to blow, and when it does, the chorus explodes like a howl for freedom and release.

Talking about the song, Robyn says it is: “a thumping battle song for anyone trying to walk away from a situation or relationship that isn’t working for them. I wrote this song during a time I felt trapped. Promises were broken, truths distorted, hopes undermined, time wasted. It felt like giving up was the only way out, and whilst I wanted freedom, to give up after investing so much also felt like a betrayal to myself. The song is like a plea for the strength to do it. “

Robyn Sherwell is a name that has been on the lips of tastemakers since her debut single ‘Love Somebody’ became a firm favourite of Lauren Laverne’s on BBC Radio 6 and signalled the arrival of a new heart-on-sleeve female singer-songwriter. Follow up single ‘Islander’, a dedication to her childhood home of Guernsey, quickly secured support from Huw Stephens and BBC Introducing, catapulting Sherwell onto the latter’s stage at Glastonbury in June 2015. That same summer, her cover of Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Landslide’ was chosen as the soundtrack to the trailer for the film ‘Suffragette’. This led to Lauren Laverne making the track her 6Music Recommends Track Of The Week, and Jo Whiley playing it twice in one show on her BBC Radio 2 show. In 2021, the emotive power of her rendition is still turning heads: having caught the attention of Airbnb, the song was placed within the film for their latest major global advertising campaign. While her original songs ‘Low’ and ‘Love Somebody’ have been featured on the soundtrack of popular TV shows including Good Trouble and Oprah Winfrey’s Queen Sugar.

2016 saw the release of her full-length debut album, produced by Bat For Lashes collaborator David Kosten, drawing rapturous reviews; The Guardian hailed Robyn “a significant new voice”. She became a PRS Momentum funded artist and her first UK headline tour culminated in a sold-out London show. Robyn’s music has amassed over 20 million cumulative streams, establishing her as a fresh standout voice in the realm of heartfelt confessional electro-pop.

After a challenging few years, during which Robyn stepped away from the limelight to focus on co-writing, and among other things becoming a mother, Robyn came back last December with her EP ‘Where Do We Go From Here’, which signals the confident return of an artist who’s experienced a lot, and is never afraid to express her emotions in beautifully bruised but enveloping melodic electro soul.

Introducing Who We Are – an intriguingly creative new British musical
duo, who launch today with their wildly artistic short film titled Who We Are.
Directed by Academy Film’s Novemba, who have been recognised at Cannes and
the D&AD, Who We Are is an eight-minute artistic collaboration between well-known
musicians, film-makers and dancers. Blurring the lines between musical, visual and
choreographed expression, Who We Are looks at the everyday heartbreak of being a
parent and the deep, complex emotions that swell beneath the surface.
Taking place in intimate, familiar settings, the overarching focus of the multifaceted
short film is on the unique pieces of raw, emotional expression from two individual
characters: a father who is grappling with the difficulties that come with being a
newly single parent, and a mother who faces unbearable tension and hostility from
her teenage daughter.

The brightest UK x JA link up arrives as Vershon releases 6-track ‘Only One’ EP, marking an evolution of sounds and styles between the two counties with the artist at the helm. With a bountiful collection of music releases to his name already, tipping over 11 million streams, Vershon’s visionary musical flair explores two countries rich with musical heritage and buzzing with talent. To celebrate the EP launch, Vershon threw an exclusive online party, hosted by BBC Radio 1Xtra DJ Seani B, and featured Trillary Banks and executive producers The FaNaTiX as he delved in to conversation about the creation of the project, giving fans an upfront listen of previously unreleased tracks.

STREAM/PURCHASE: VERSHON – ONLY ONE (EP)

Ahead of the EP release, Vershon, who has previously been tipped for stardom on the BBC Radio 1Xtra’s ‘Hot For’ list, dropped introductory track ‘Original’ before teaming up with UK rap star Chip on ‘Reality’. Most recently his single ‘Stick By Me’, co-written by BRIT & Ivor Novello award winning singer/songwriter Plan B, premiered with Wonderland Magazine and was also chosen by Yasmin Evans as her record of the week on BBC Radio 1Xtra as the “dancehall-inspired rhythm with smooth vocals and romantic lyricism” (Wonderland), grasped hold of its listeners with loving intent.

Executively produced by UK production trio The FaNaTiX, the ‘Only One’ EP musically exposes Vershon in varying perspectives. From the bold, bass-heavy menacing tone of ‘Original’ that insists on taking the rap capabilities of Vershon seriously, to the sentimental undertones of ‘Stick By Me’ that provide a counter-balance of emotion and perfectly crafted melody, the 6-track record is an arrival at an organic, meaningful and carefully crafted destination. Highlighted further by the magnificent feature list, which includes Busy Signal on ‘Thingz’ and Y Cee on ‘Shake It Up’, the instrumental elements stirred in with the wealth of artists delivering an array of genre experience sees the records decorated with chinks of dancehall, soca, R&B, grime and afrobeats

Celebrating his unique, equivocal style, ‘Only One’ masterfully balances Vershon’s credibility with an international pop sensibility, bridging the gap between London and Jamaica assisted by a carefully curated line-up of contributors.

Pairing melancholy songwriting with stirring electronica, acclaimed British indie artist Nathan Ball shares “Blindside” – the stunning lead single from his forthcoming debut album, out later this year.

With a haunting verse building to a euphoric chorus, “Blindside” eventually erupts with cymbals like the crashing waves on the storm-beaten cliffs which naturally surround the Cornwall-based musician. Starting out as Nathan tinkering on a piano in an old chapel outside of Bath, “Blindside” documents a relationship falling apart, the feeling of losing sight of who each other is and craving that connection and emotion back.

Produced by Max Radford and mixed by the esteemed Nicolas Verhnes (The War on Drugs, Daughter, Deerhunter), “Blindside” follows a quiet yet formative 2020 for the British artist, riding high off the back of his very well-received collaboration with dance legends Faithless for their latest album All Blessed, alongside his own beautifully poignant singles “Just Say Something” and “All Comes Back to You” plus writing/producing his debut album.

50/50 is a unique take on a love song. It’s a love song about you (the listener), versus a breakup song about two people. This homage to self-esteem is timely as taking care of your own emotional needs became paramount in 2020, Kayla reflects on this on her latest track 50/50. As Kayla explains “Sometimes you need to show yourself some love, even if it means hurting someone else.”

The recording of 50/50 was a painstaking process with Kayla recording over 30 different vocal demos to capture the exact right vibe of the song and tweaking everything to perfect her vision. Working with Marty Martino (Honors, Down With Webster) and her A&R team, the result is one of Kayla’s strongest tracks to date and showcases her dynamic vocal range.

Reflecting on what she wants fans to take from the song Kayla says “Lots of people will hear this song and think it’s just about a spoiled relationship, but to me it’s so much more than that. It’s about recognizing that you deserve better than what you’re being given. It’s about removing unwanted toxicity from your life.”

Since the 2017 release of her debut single “Carnival Hearts” (which went on to stream over 5 million times) and it’s follow up Top 10 single, the anthemic “What You’re Made Of,” Kayla continues to impress with her talent and determination to spread positivity with her words and music.

Drawing comparisons to Björk, Sinead O’Connor and Sylvan Esso, Shrines is the moniker of Brooklyn-based singer and musician, Carrie Erving (Ponyhof, Will Butler of Arcade Fire). Today she announces Our Ship is Ready, a new video EP due out on April 16, and releases the project’s first clip for “Silkie.” Our Ship is Ready is a collection of her modern re-imaginings of traditional folk ballads, which she learned while living in Ireland, from traditional singers including Iarla Ó Lionaird and Karan Casey.

Of Our Ship is Ready, Shrines shares: “My time in Ireland collecting songs from the Sean-nós (the Irish language term for “old style”) tradition has had such a deep impact on the way that I sing and write music. Our Ship Is Ready is a project that I hope to continue in the future, with more collaborators and volumes of collected traditional songs. I offer this first volume as a snapshot of a creative process during the pandemic, in which I reached back to the source of some of my deepest inspiration as an artist, and recorded and performed these songs while living in isolation in nature. These are some of my favorite songs that have stuck with me for many years and I am excited to have the opportunity to arrange them in my own way and share them.

My husband (the videos’ director, Brody Bernheisel) and I have been quarantining on an island in Maine. We’ve filmed music videos that seek to capture these traditional songs’ reverence of the natural world. Creatively, there is a direct connection for me between the natural settings we chose for the film locations and the wild nature that is present in so many of these ancient songs. I also imagine a connecting thread to the original settings in which they were perhaps written: within solitude and as an ode to nature. From my side of the Atlantic, I’m engaging in a conversation with these ancient themes and stories and bringing my own creative interpretations to them. Arranged with strings, piano, and synths, these songs also pay homage to the inspiration of my favorite folk records from the ‘60s and ‘70s. Alongside a recurring theme of a reverence for the land, the songs share the thread of the same theme of beginning a journey, looking out into the unknown with trepidation or excitement. For me this project is also a snapshot of a creative process during the pandemic — recording vocals at my home studio in Maine with vocal producer/mixer Rosana Cabán (Psychic Twin) and engaging in an extended long-distance correspondence of recording, arranging and mixing with my longtime collaborator, cellist and co-producer Chris Loxley.

The videos themselves are a snapshot in time: isolated in nature, solitude, or dancing alone in ones’ room, and living in a sense of waiting and looking out towards the future. My hope is for the music and videos to provide the viewer with a chance to escape for a few moments into the quiet magic of this place, which has been a source of grounding and solace for me during this difficult year.”

Overall Management was founded by Eales in Los Angeles, CA when she was just 23 years old. When founding the company she had one initial principle in mind — “We are good people, fighting for the good people” — and aimed to create a team off that ethos. In late 2015, she got a call from her friend Garrett telling her that his project “gnash” was starting to gain some traction and would she be interested in working on it. Together they took his now 7x platinum single “i hate u, i love u” all the way to the top 10 on Billboard while building him as both a streaming, touring and merchandising empire. While gnash was working on his first album, Rosabelle was invited by their friend Imad Royal, who had previously opened for gnash on tour, to work on his artist and producer projects. That’s when Overall was born & now houses incredible multifaceted talents stretching to all corners of music.

Overall is the future of management companies,” says Rosabelle. “It’s a grassroots, women-founded home for creative individuals from all backgrounds and walks of life to share their dreams & make them a reality. Matt Thompson has dropped his second single of 2021, “Dizzy” following his previous dance pop single “Accelerate.” After releasing his full-length album No Shame in 2020, which generated over 3 millions streams, Matt is moving forward to experiment with more styles in 2021. Self-identified as a singer-songwriter meets maximalist pop, he intends to convey meaningful messages through the craft of songwriting to resonate with his diverse audience.
“The song is about me coming to grips with my crappy taste in guys. I always go for the ones who have the biggest redflags on planet Earth, knowing things will take the inevitable turn. This song is me asking myself why do i do this, knowing how it’ll play out in the end.” – Matt Thompson “Dizzy“ was written by Matt, as well as produced by Ryan Binhammer (Dior, L’Oréal, Toyota), mixed by Jake Vicious (Kendrick Lamar’s ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’), and mastered by two time Latin Grammy winning sound engineer Andres Mayo. This track was written in under 90 minutes and was one of the quickest songs Matt ever wrote. The song is Matt poking fun at himself and depicts his poor choices in men despite knowing that these men are only after one thing.

BETWEEN FRIENDS is the creative union between siblings Savannah and Brandon Hudson. Living in Los Angeles, Savannah and Brandon have been steeped in the city’s creative community from a young age, their kinetic relationship with one another helping create sultry, detached, bedroom pop. Today, BETWEEN FRIENDS share “tape 001,” a 5-track mixtape that’s the first in a series of three, leading to a full project this summer. “tape 001” features the lead single “shiny,” which acts as a timely reintroduction to Savannah’s bold, moody vocal style, blending perfectly with Brandon’s left-brain pop production. What emerges is a remarkable sense of emotional vulnerability and a distinctly LA brand of artful, suburban glamour. With a gorgeous music video directed by Kevin Clark (Flatbush Zombies, Sir Sly) “shiny” acts as a significant statement of intent from a duo already making serious viral waves in the blogosphere racing to over 1.3M monthly listeners on Spotify alone.

Speaking on the track, Savannah states: “‘Shiny,’ in a way, is a transition to another side of our personalities. As creatives, we can get super blocked up being ourselves all the time. We wanted to put metaphorical masks on and write as something else. To us the most exciting thing about all of this is weaving out of body and embracing a
new sort of confidence.” On this, the first tape, Savannah and Brandon introduce the next iteration of BETWEEN FRIENDS: What started with their debut single “Suburban Wonderland” leading to their 2018 debut EP we just need some time together has evolved into a rich canvas of burning creativity, ambition and integrally everyday life and emotion.

Looking Through the Glass holds nostalgia for the glory days of youth. There’s a whimsical and delicate sound to the track, transporting you back. K-Pop boy band, CRAVITY, have released their highly anticipated performance video for “Bad Habits,” today. The B-side track is off their  3rd album, SEASON3. [HIDEOUT: BE OUR VOICE], released earlier this year. With an ambitious drive to turn the year 2021 into CRAVITY’s, the members wasted no time speaking to places like Good Day New YorkiHeartET CanadaRadio.com and many more, about their success thus far and the creative process behind the album.

“We shot the performance video for “Bad Habits” using many new techniques we haven’t tried before, for example shooting with night vision or lip syncing to a lower angle camera through a glass pane. The dance routine was really fun to perform and suits the mood of the song really well” says Rapper Allen. Leader of the group, Serim, adds “We had a very short time to prepare for our B-side track promotion, but we’ve worked super hard to complete it in success.”

The main theme for the performance video of “Bad Habits” is ‘Nocturnal,’ and viewers can see the dynamic moves and performance of the members on the night of the full moon. With funky visuals, they’ve turned into bad boys and will draw full attention by showing more matured and developed skills. The song “Bad Habits” is meant to showcase a different side of the CRAVITY members with a more rough and tough persona. The lyrics tell a story of 9 members who will not collapse in this world, but will clearly show their own way to survive through it. With underground trap beats; EXY from K-Pop Group Cosmic Girls (WJSN) participated as a lyricist on this track. In addition, 3 CRAVITY members [Taeyoung, Allen, and Hyeongjun] participated in the draft version of the “Bad Habits” choreography, further showing their artistic abilities.

MORE INFO:

CRAVITY’s debut album, released in April 2020, SEASON1. [HIDEOUT: REMEMBER WHO WE ARE] caused a wave of intrigue and excitement here in the states, with mentions in PAPER MagazineAccessiHeartJ-14MTV NewsEarmilkTeen Vogueand Rolling Stone who referred to their title track as “An anthemic track from the K-pop rookies that combines 808-style riffs with the melodic sensibilities of early-2000s boybands (extended dance break included).” In addition to that, CRAVITY made a splash on social media, debuting at No. 12 on Billboard’s Social 50 chart for the week dated April 25.

CRAVITY has also garnered the title “Super Rookie” over in Korea, due to the success of their debut album, which hit No. 1 on U.S. @iTunes Top K-Pop Albums chart, making them the first #Kpop rookie group to debut in 2020 to earn this achievement.

CRAVITY has marked their relentless movement, sweeping the rookie of the year awards at various music awards ceremonies in Korea. Even after releasing only two albums, their achievements were more than enough to show their presence in the K-pop scene, giving them the title ‘2020 super rookie.’

Inspiration behind the name, CRAVITY, came to fruition through the combination of “Creativity” and “Gravity,” Starship Entertainment’s new boy band for the first time in five years since Monsta X. Consisting of nine members, [Serim, Allen, Jungmo, Woobin, Wonjin, Minhee, Hyeongjun, Taeyoung, and Seongmin], CRAVITY, which is also an acronym for “Center of Gravity,” is meant to attract/gravitate listeners into their unique universe, by pulling them in with their creativity, charm, and pure talent. As humans, we all have our own “first experiences”; whether that be in school, society, or in a relationship. When encountering new relationships, we sometimes prepare ourselves by running from the starting line at full speed, hearts racing, butterflies in our stomach, but at the same time we are afraid. We are hopeful, but we also experience despair.

Marked by introspective lyricism, mournful melodies, lush blankets of driving guitars and wistful vocal deliveries, Massachusetts’s Valleyheart is equal parts boldness and beauty. Led by singer/songwriter/producer Kevin Klein, the four-piece formed in 2016 with the idea of rearranging Klein’s haunting folk songs (written in his home closet studio) into dynamic rock statements.

The band’s first EP Nowadays arrived in 2017 and quickly gained attention across the scene for its relatable lyrics and nostalgic feel. Klein’s vision was further realized with the 2018 LP release Everyone I’ve Ever Loved. It was an immense step forward in both sound and story. A conceptual journey through identity and faith. Kerrang Magazine noted “punk elements are present but not pronounced; each song is a musical game of hide-and-seek.”

Now unveiling Scenery, the new EP is a collection of four songs which together convey a narrative, but also live in their unique place – both visually and sonically. Klein confides, “I would say the main underlying theme in our music is, as basic as it sounds, to understand the mystery of self, change, identity and life.”

Leading single T.I.K” (an acronym for Thoughts I Keep) dives into the songwriters’ own mind and contemplates understanding paradoxical behaviors. Studying the contradictory nature of the psyche, “T.I.K” is about how our opposing emotions and thoughts interact. Klein shares, “I wanted those tensions and that weight paralleled in the instrumentation; hence this probably being the heaviest and most hard-hitting track.” Clashing percussion and resonating guitars build to create a raucous and energetic atmosphere.

Scenery” lyrically touches on the idea of feeling stuck emotionally, mentality and even physically – and the ways we tell ourselves we need to change our environment to change ourselves. The track examines the way we shake up our surroundings in search of mental clarity and peace. With a simpler approach, the song finds inspiration from the likes of some early 2000’s alternative rock and creates its energy through a consistent groove and blend of drum machines and natural elements”

Then there isStepping Stone” – a song touching on contentment and rest. A song that dives into the search for contentment and comfort through more tangible and unlikely sources; and questions our habits, vices, and faith altogether. Featuring fun guitar melodies and gritty vocals, the uplifting song is certain to put a spring in your step.

Valleyheart has been awarded “Rock Artist of the Year” at the Boston Music Awards and their album Everyone I’ve Ever Loved received a nomination for “Album of the Year.” The band enters 2021 with new music and a renewed creative push as they continue to carve out their own corner of the indie/alternative rock space.

Madison Daniel),” puts her electrifying indie-in-the-club production on full display, her emotional and energetic production fusing effortlessly with the airy, timeless vocals of singer-songwriter Madison Daniel. “’Crash Into Me’ is about wanting to let your guard down with someone and not hold back anymore… being who you are is enough for that person,” Callie writes. “Most importantly I wanted this song to make people feel strong. I want people to be able to dance to this one and feel really really good.”

There’s a reason Callie has gained global support from tastemakers such as Teen Vogue, The Cut, BBC Radio 1’s Annie Nightingale, Rinse FM’s Marcus Nasty, and Diplo — each release exudes her bubbling, fearless energy and unrivaled character. In addition to her own tracks, Callie has knocked out dance floor-ready remixes for artists such as Alison Wonderland, SOFI TUKKER, TRACE, and more.

Pushing forward, Callie’s ready to reveal the next era of her burgeoning career. In her upcoming releases, Callie transcends the limits of the dance music scene, pushing herself as a singer-songwriter while still staying true to her DJ/producer roots. “I’ve been producing since I was around 16 and been patient with trying different genres, sounds, ideas,” she writes. “I feel the most proud of the music that is yet to come out, it feels right and feels like what I’ve always wanted my music to sound like.”

You already know Flo Gallop. You’ve already heard her voice, it’s a pitch-perfect, beautiful, arm-around-the-shoulders version of the one in your head. Flo is the voice we all need, She’s the beat behind our breakdowns and the word-perfect poetry of our bounce-back pick-ups. South-east London born and bred, Flo was raised around music, her dad made songwriting feel like breathing. Without it she would choke. So, she sat, scribbling words, diarising an everyday life through the musicality and soul of a natural artist that would eventually emerge, fully formed, as a friend in your ears.

Flo doesn’t want to change the world, just get your attention. She lives to perform, yet she feels, writes and lives like an antidote to this world of filtered fakery and ‘pick me!’ poses. Honesty is the only policy here, even when it hurts.

The fun and flirtatious “Can’t Be Friends” narrates falling for the wrong person and happily overlooking the consequences. The infectious song sparkles with colourful melodies, a move-inducing beat and Gallop’s distinct vocal delivery. The songwriter shares, “This song came from another deluded boy crush and was based around the nerves of seeing someone when you know you shouldn’t and that they’re not good for you, but also knowing you really want to, attempting to make someone jealous and just generally being up to no good.”

All of Flo’s music is food for the heart and words for the wise. This is a writer of depth, already a collaborator with established giants Tom Fuller and Will Thomson but, rather than stand on their shoulders, she has hands on the wheel.

Being a young woman in your 20s isn’t always easy today, but Flo only sees ‘good and great’ in her life and her work, and you will too. So, if you’re looking for Bad then head for Neverland, but if you want songs to fly, cry and die for then don’t just run with the herd- go with the Flo.

The six-track EP features the recently released single and Chinoise?’ – WATCH ‘CHINOISE ?’ VIDEO HERE – which sees Thérèse blurring different music genres, breaking common stereotypes around Asians using pervasive popular cliches while mixing French-influenced hip-hop, electro-pop and samples of traditional Chinese instruments including Pipa and Rubab, an Afghan instrument widely used in the Xinjiang province of northwest China. Using six different languages – French, English, Chinese, Thai, Japanese, Vietnamese and Arabic – to express her often political lyrics.

The EP title, ‘Rêvalité’, explains Thérèse; “is a word I invented, a mix between “rêve” (= dream) and “réalité” (= reality) and also a mix between “rêve” (= dream) and “alité” (= bedridden). It perfectly represents the surreal Covid19 pandemic life, during which humanity has been floating between a dream (or a nightmare) and real life. Even if the themes of the songs are quite strong, the word ‘Rêvalité’ sounds hopeful, as the aim of this EP is to encourage people to face reality in order to be aware and ready to re-build our future.”

Part of a new generation of French electronic music artists mixing the power of bass music, the musicality of Hip Hop and the energy of club culture, Thérèse has established herself as a figure of empowerment in the French-Asian community. ‘Chinoise?’ is the follow up to her debut single ‘T.O.X.I.C’, which has seen the talented artist being selected for the 2021 Société Pernod Ricard France Live Music Prize, the prize sets out in search of the very best in the independent French music scene. As an activist, she has been fighting racism especially towards French Asians through her music and  social media platforms, more recently COVID-19 fuelled the flames of anti-Asian sentiment in France with prejudice and racist slurs shocking the country’s Asian community. French Asians have been fighting back using the hashtag #JeNeSuisPasUnVirus (I’m not a virus), through her work with anti-racists associations such as Décolonisons Nous and Stop Asiaphobie, Thérèse has become one of their most radical voices on national French media, appearing on daytime TV shows including ‘Quotidien’ on TMC/TF1 and ‘Info du vrai’ on Canal +.

Born in Paris, Thérèse is half Chinese, a quarter Lao and a quarter Vietnamese. Her parents arrived in France in the late 70’s, met in Paris and lived in different suburbs, Villejuif, Saint-Ouen, Bagnolet, Vitry sur Seine. She started playing piano when she was nine years old and attended the Conservatory before landing a well paid job as Product Manager at Kenzo Parfums, LVMH. One day she decided to switch and draw her own career path, “as Missy Elliott recently said as long as you are breathing, it’s never too late… That’s the motto I want to follow”, she enthuses. Now she splits her time between music, styling for other French music artists including Sônge, and brands such as Nuxe and Fête Impériale, as well as modelling for empowering French labels Ysé and Superbe.

Soaring off the back of January’s sublime pop banger “Champagne Butterflies”, Irish indiepop band Wild Youth unveil their latest bop “Can’t Say No” – which they announce today will be taken from their forthcoming new EP Forever Girl, out March 26th.

With razor sharp lyricism and gritty, hypnotic rhythms, “Can’t Say No” hears the band confidently calling out an unfaithful partner and is yet another example of the band’s capacity to evolve and transcend genre barriers. The contrast between the floor-shaking bass and the euphoric pop hooks create a track so immense, whilst simultaneously encapsulating their down-to-earth, homegrown nature and lyrical vulnerability.

Comprised of lead vocalist David Whelan, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Conor O’Donohoe, lead guitarist Ed Porter and drummer Callum McAdam, Wild Youth are on a path leading towards global domination. Their innate ability to formulate catchy, credible pop tunes has seen them collect over 10M streams on Spotify alone, alongside vital playlist additions from Spotify’s New Music Friday UK, New Pop UK, The Pop List and New Pop Revolution.

Flying off the back of his single ‘Topdown’, British artist Jay Lewn unleashes another signature sumptuous track, ‘Glitter Ain’t Gold’ ft Jaz Karis. Emerging over a soundscape of dizzy guitar licks and shimmering synths, the young artist’s velvety vocals paint a picture of a working woman through the use of enticing melodies and vibrant, quirky lyrics. Released alongside a strikingly eccentric visual, what emerges is a sense of openness, blending DIY creativity with Jay’s idiosyncrasies, whilst effortlessly fusing electro-pop sonics with R&B grooves.

The wickedly woozy ‘Glitter Ain’t Gold’ comes second in a slew of singles plucked from his upcoming project ‘Loverboy’, said to explore the multi-faceted, twisted perceptions of love. Whilst having already proven his capabilities with the tasteful ‘Form 01 ’EP, this next chapter is rumoured to reveal his “most refined sound” to date. From classical musical training to a degree in chemistry, Jay Lewn is your enigma-next door. Turning heads in the industry at early doors with the support of BBC Introducing, Sofar Sounds and various UK music festivals, he’s also sent shockwaves through the underground scene, collaborating with the likes of JGrrey, Che Lingo and now Jaz Karis. His previous single ‘Topdown’ pricked the ears of tastemakers DIY, NEW WAVE, GUAP and WORDPLAY. With a wide range of experiences in the music-sphere, his talents have also seen him championing a high-profile roster of client’s professional audio engineering, including Beabadoobee, 88 Rising and Yuna.

Goodbyes” pairs ’80s vibes with edgy sad girl pop. It’s my debut single, in which I dramatically throw my tears at the end of a story that needs to be put away.
Goodbyes” is out everywhere. Click here to stream via your preferred platform.
I was having a conversation with my best friend about the dude I used to date, and how I thought I’d be better at the hard goodbye. I think about bringing a box of your ex’s clothes back to him after a break-up. The cold sadness and loneliness that comes with reminiscing on the memories.
I had the chance to work with the talented Elijah Woods. I recorded “Goodbyes” in his basement where I almost fell asleep on the couch after cuddling his cat, Judy.
I can’t wait for what the future has in store!

TONYB. is a singer/songwriter from Nashville, TN. Heavily influenced by 90’s and early 2000’s R&B, he credits his range of musical and vocal dynamics to the likes of Aaliyah, D’Angelo and Usher.

His latest endeavor is his new 18-track deluxe version of his acclaimed album Flashing Lights. Created between Nashville and Los Angeles over the last few years TONYB. has amalgamated a collection of sonic stories of coming into adulthood. TONYB. explains the overarching themes of Flashing Lights sharing, “It’s a symbol of how life is ever changing and not everything will always be clear. Even in some of the challenging moments, even when everything is dark, you can still find the light.”

Covering an incredibly in depth tunnel of experiences and emotions, we get an insight into the vulnerability and raw, honest truths of TONYB.. The album ranges from more dance-worthy tunes such as “Take a Loss” to more emotional, delicate songs such as “Angels.” Overall the aura of Flashing Lights is a rich soulful, alt R&B delivery, composed of stunning vocal runs and an emporium of synths, drums and bass.

Leading single “Worst Way” is a collaboration with female artist Paris Laná. “Worst Way” was added to Spotify’s Best of 2020: Fresh Finds: The Wave (R&B) editorial playlist and has racked up close to half a million streams alone. Singing, “I want you back in the single worst way,” both artist’s vocals merge together effortlessly, combining their silky voices. “Worst Way” absorbs many sonic layers, emitting trap-like R&B claps, hi-hat heavy beats and an underlining pulsing, deep bass. The soft popping of the synths add a dream-like atmosphere to the tune, shimmering with so much complexity in both the lyrics, production and structure.

Included in the deluxe album is the new single “Serious.” Featuring harp-esque flares, heavy R&B beats and harmonic vocals, the track blurs into an all encompassing sound. The tropical synths precipitate soft, juicy feelings while the hook is the definition of catchy. “Serious” narrates the depth of a connection, oozing with emotion and passion.

Montreal indie pop group, What If Elephants, strikes a delicate balance with their elegant and rousing sound – between accessible pop and deeper, introspective lyrics that lie just below the surface. The four friends put a positive perspective on adversity and find inspiration in the impact music can have on people.

New single, “Guilty Pleasure” (feat. Flara K), is the latest to be shared from What If Elephants‘ forthcoming emotionally evocative Relationship Status EP. It’s a reminder that there are so many things we call guilty pleasures that are nothing to feel bad about. Take that day for yourself, curl up in a onesie with a good book and a cup of tea, and turn this track up.

Singer-Songwriter, MacKenzie Bourg, is set to make 2021 his best year yet; with the release of new music in nearly 2 years and a record label deal with Preach Records“Good Day” is something that I needed after the weirdest year of my life, which I’m sure many people can relate to. Being in quarantine made the sad times a lot more sad, but finding someone to pull through it with is what life is all about and good days are ahead” MacKenzie says about the single; which marks the beginning of his promotions for his upcoming EP. With over 17M streams already under his belt and a Billboard Charting single, MacKenzie is ready to start this new journey with the support of Preach Records.

Gold-certified pop phenom AJ Mitchell returns with a brand new single and music video, “CAMERAS ON. Get it HERE via Vol 1./Epic Records and watch the official music video HERE.

Produced by the legendary Mike Dean [Travis Scott, Kanye West], the track hinges on stark piano as the vocals immediately draw the spotlight. Uplifted by soft strings, his show-stopping voice alternates between intimate verses and a seismic refrain with sweeping cinematic scope. It illustrates his evolution as a songwriter, vocalist, and artist, bringing new power to the forefront of his sound.

The song, AJ explains, is about the beginning of his career when he first arrived in Los Angeles to chase his dreams, and a toxic situation he found himself in while a member of the content collective Team 10. “Once the cameras turned on, the dynamic changed. Everyone was all of a sudden like, ‘Oh, I love you’. When the cameras shut off, nobody talked to one another. Everybody was staring at a phone. I was young, so it was weird for me to understand. The only thing that saved me was music. Once again, it took me away—just like it did back in my hometown of Belleville, IL.”

Electric Religious is the project of Edmonton-based Métis singer-songwriter, Brandon Baker, whose guitar-driven music has been described as “bursting with inspiration, insight, and hope.” Deeply influenced by the psychedelic sounds of Jimi Hendrix, Baker took his moniker from a Hendrix quote: “When I get up on stage, that’s my whole life. That’s my religion. My music is electric church music. I am electric religion.” The debut Electric Religious album, Yeah, Yeah, No (2018) featured the single “Revolution,” which achieved a coveted spot in the CBC Searchlight Top 100 in 2019, and spent multiple weeks at #1 on the Indigenous Music Countdown. A virtuosic guitar player whose live performances are undeniably impressive, Baker has performed for audiences as large as 50,000 during the opening ceremonies for Red Bull Crashed Ice, which was broadcast to over 1.7 million viewers. Other accolades for Electric Religious include an “Artist to Watch” nomination at the Edmonton Music Awards (2015), and a nomination for Aboriginal Artist of the Year in Baker’s home province of Saskatchewan (2009).

A true definition of a go-getter, the independent rising pop artist practically runs a full-service label for herself out of her bedroom. She is her own manager, creative director, A&R, label head, artist, publicist, marketing strategist, all in one. Her music feels to listeners like the 90s has met the 2020s – bringing a retro electro pop sound that’s passionate, vibey, and brimming with a hopeful future. Her music embodies her “IDGAF” attitude, and her lyrics are relentlessly honest and relatable, while being upbeat, disco, and reflecting 80s elements and influences. Bluntly put, her songs make you want to go out and be a badass. Although Leah’s been singing and writing songs since the age of 12, getting fired from her job (because she spent all of her time in the studio and not really at work) while living in NYC was the push she needed to begin releasing music professionally and full time. With the help of her brother, the two started writing songs in their in-home studio at a super young age. The go-getter she is, Leah, at maybe 14 years old, would email huge producers of major labels of artists she loved, trying to get them to produce her voice memos that she would freestyle. Her songs range in a variety of versatile topics but the one thing they all have in common is that they are very truthful and reflective of her life. “No matter what kind of song I’m releasing, whether it’s a disco dance pop song or just me on guitar, the lyrics have to matter and be very truthful to my life.” – Leah.

For as long as he can remember, Ryan Montbleau’s been a seeker. From the jungles of Peru to the volcanoes of Hawaii, from the beaches of Costa Rica to the streets of Brooklyn, from the backseat of a 16-passenger van to backstage at Carnegie Hall, the acclaimed singer/songwriter has spent much of his life crisscrossing the globe on a perpetual search for meaning, purpose, and understanding. It’s a quest that’s guided him both personally and professionally over the years, one that’s come to define not only his music, but his very sense of self. And yet, listening to Montbleau’s ambitious new multi-part album, Wood, Fire, Water, and Air, there is a profound sense of satisfaction in sitting still, a recognition that perhaps all those spiritual treasures he’s been chasing for so long were closer than he thought.

“My whole adult life has been this journey of trying to figure out where home is,” Montbleau reflects. “I think I’ve finally found it.”

Set to roll out across four distinct EPs, Wood, Fire, Water, and Air marks Montbleau’s first studio release since putting down permanent roots in Burlington, Vermont, where he recently purchased a house after more than two decades of living on the road. While much of the material here was written in fits and starts over the past several years, it’s clear that the desire for stability was very much on Montbleau’s mind even before he settled on the banks of Lake Champlain, and the songs reflect a maturity and self-awareness that can only come from the difficult work of rigorous self-examination. Montbleau is quick to credit therapy for his growth of late, but he sings about more than just himself here, mixing sly humor and deep revelations as he meditates on the ties that bind all of us perfectly imperfect humans together. Taken as a whole, it’s a broad, insightful collection balancing boisterous rock and roll energy with intimate folk introspection, a sprawling, magnetic record all about listening, letting go, and living life.

“I’ve been through a lot over these past few years,” says Montbleau, “and I’ve experienced some monumental shifts in my perspective. The only way for me to write about it was to just get as honest and vulnerable as I could.”
