“Unmasking Heartbreak: Cassadee Pope’s Power Ballad ‘People That I Love Leave’ Paints a Vivid Picture on the Canvas of Love”

“Letting go of a person you still love hurts, but holding on to a person who doesn’t feel the same hurts more.” Today, platinum-status songstress and Grammy nominee, Cassadee Pope, unveils a painfully relatable music video for her much-anticipated single “People That I Love Leave”, shedding light on the art of self-sabotage in relationships, as a consequence of past wounds.

Directed by the remarkable Ed Pryor, renowned for his work with stars like Dierks Bentley and Mickey Guyton, the video captures Cassadee caught in a whirlwind of emotions, echoing a narrative too familiar to many of us. The exclusive premiere happened earlier this week on Hollywood Life and it’s a click away for you to experience HERE.

The heart of the song beats with a simple, relatable truth – allowing oneself to love and be loved after being hurt. Cassadee opens up about her vision for the video, “I desired to paint the poignant picture of self-sabotage, a dance many of us know too well. The narrative unfolds with escalating intensity as a guy gets closer, and I push him away, an action fueled by the ghost of heartbreaks past.”

To amplify this underlying sentiment, an electrifying performance sequence is thoughtfully embedded into the video. “The searing frustration and anger, the aftermath of pushing love away, is something I needed to portray with fervor,” she adds.

Penned by Cassadee and an elite team including Ali Tamposi, Roman Campolo, Nick Long, and Andrew Luce, “People That I Love Leave” has already made quite a splash in the music universe. It’s been celebrated by outlets like Ones to Watch, American Songwriter, and Rock Sound among others, proving its mettle as a heart-rending anthem.

Cassadee Pope, a trailblazer in the music industry and former frontwoman of the pop-punk band Hey Monday, embarks on a nostalgic return to her musical roots with “People That I Love Leave”. Speaking on the future direction of her musical journey, Cassadee reveals, “The authenticity of this new venture has connected me with my music on a level I’ve never experienced. Pop and rock is the very DNA of my creativity, and stepping back into that realm feels like a heartwarming homecoming.”
