WomenOutLoud! : Jennifer Lawrence Is Outstanding In The Raunchy Comedy ‘No Hard Feelings’

Much to everyone’s delight, Jennifer Lawrence is back! She produces and stars in the raunchy comedy ‘No Hard Feelings’, in which she plays Maddie, an Uber driver who is broke and heading towards bankruptcy. After having her car repossessed, Maddie comes across a Craigslist ad and agrees to date a married couple’s son in exchange for Buick Regal. Now as outrageous as this sounds, I did read that this movie was based on an actual Craigslist ad.

Why ‘No Hard Feelings’ works is it’s led by Jennifer Lawrence, and although she’s most famous for her dramatic roles, her personality has always suited comedies, and her performance in this film is simply flawless. ‘No Hard Feelings’ is also a throwback to sex comedies of the 2000s, something we haven’t seen done in years and something we have all clearly missed.

Gene Stupnitsky directs the movie, and he has a gift for these films, he helmed ‘Good Boys’ and also wrote some classic episodes of the hit series ‘The Office’. Stupnitsky certainly knows his way around humor, and gives us back the feelings of some of the early 2000s comedies like ‘Knocked Up’, ‘The Hangover’ and ‘Superbad’.

Jennifer Lawrence is one of the most stunning women in the world, and in ‘No Hard Feelings’ it takes Jennifer Lawrence’s sex appeal and plays it for laughs. She’s up against nineteen-year-old Percy (played by Andrew Barth Feldman), an awkward young man about to go off to college. From this point the comedy ensues as she attempts to flirt with him, but Percy is almost immune to her charms.

Feldman is great in the role of Percy, he’s shy, lovable and quirky, and we watch as he starts to come out of his shell thanks to his budding friendship with Maddie. Jennifer Lawrence is brilliant and as we’ve never really seen her use her comedic talents, in ‘No Hard Feelings’ she really shines. Both Feldman and Lawrence really develop the heart of the story, and that comes down to their great chemistry on screen. ‘No Hard Feelings’ is highly entertaining and is one of the brightest, and funniest comedies of the year.
