Director Antoine Fuqua has shared some new insights to the upcoming biopic ‘Michael’, which is his upcoming biopic on the late King Of Pop. The singer will be portrayed by Jermaine Jackson’s Son Jaafar, who the director says is an uncanny resemblance to the late singer. During a recent interview with EW, the Equalizer 3 filmmaker declared that he was “blown away” by how Jaafar channels his famous uncle.
“It’s uncanny how much he’s like Michael,” Fuqua said. “Sounds like him, dances like him, sings. It’s really uncanny. Graham King, who is a fantastic producer, found him, and introduced him to me, and I was blown away.”
As to what years and bits of the singer’s life audiences can expect to see in the biopic, Fuqua says that he’ll be sticking to “the facts as I know it.” While the life of Jackson has been up for debate, the director plans to give audiences “a better insight on Michael [Jackson] as an artist, as a human being — the good, bad, and the ugly — and let people decide for themselves on what they feel about Michael Jackson.” Seeing his story as “worthwhile,” the filmmaker hopes that the project will get viewers talking about the man behind the music.
