acclaimed New York City-based electronic musician, producer and activist Moby shares the emotional animated official video for downtempo reworking of Cream’s “We’re Going Wrong” with Brie O’Banion out everywhere now via Moby’s label, Always Centered At Night.
The “We’re Going Wrong” accompanying animated video sheds light on the harsh realities of animal cruelty and the dark side of the meat and dairy industry. On the goal of the visual, Moby says, “I try whenever possible to use my platform as a way to address the tragic horrors of meat and dairy production, and I believe the animated video for ‘We’re Going Wrong’ does this in a heartbreaking, poignant way.”

The idea for Moby’s version of “We’re Going Wrong” emerged years ago when he was going through old vinyl records and getting ready to sell them to the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. Listening to some old favorites, he re-discovered the Cream track written by their bassist Jack Bruce. Moby recalls, “I was struck by how plaintive and beautiful it was, and how sadly germane it was for the current moment. I wrote a downtempo version of the song and asked my friend Brie O’Banion to sing it, and her voice brought a wonderful beauty and depth to it.”
Most recently, Moby took the stage for the first time in five years for a sold out crowd at Gold Diggers in Los Angeles to benefit Vegans of LA Food Bank, alongside KCRW DJ Raul Campos. Last month, Moby shared the healing, soulful track “Should Sleep” with collaborator J.P. Bimeni–a track that embodies the distinct carefree joy that comes with being on a dance floor surrounded by strangers after midnight. Setting the scene of the track’s origin, Moby recalls, “After disco died in the late ’70s, and before house music took the world by storm in the late ’80s, New York was home to an underground dance music scene that was curated and maintained by revered DJs like Larry Levan and David Mancuso. As a punk rocker in the early ’80s, I went out to clubs like Great Gildersleeves and the Ritz to see bands like Black Flag and Bad Brains.” Eventually, Moby found himself discovering new, hidden underground clubs but like the Fallout Shelter, Am/Pm, The Loft, and Paradise Garage, where he was exposed to underground dance music like ESG, Lolleata Holloway, the Peech Boys, People’s Choice, Cheryl Lynn, Manu Dibango, and countless others.
These sounds laid the foundation for the latest work, a track that Moby says transcends one’s background and identity, adding it’s “100% a tribute and an homage to that scene, when Larry Levan and David Mancuso played iconic tracks by loose joints and brass construction and the Peech Boys to an ecstatic audience of straight, gay, Black, white, Asian people, all joined in building nightly churches out of music and sweat.” Moby adds the track, “makes me feel like I’m on the dance floor at David Mancuso’s loft celebrating at midnight with joyful strangers.”
Singer-songwriter Megan Nic Ruairí is set to enchant audiences once again with her latest single, ‘Twenty Two’, scheduled for release on November 22nd. The release comes as Megan was just announced as an act at this year’s Other Voices festival as well as with the exciting announcement that Megan will release her debut solo EP ‘Made Of Sin’ January 19th 2024.

About the EP Nic Ruairí says “The EP is a journey, bookended by two cinematic pieces and centred by a lover’s lament. My love for the song ‘The Whole of the Moon’ is very well known and it felt special to record my own version of it, with Mike Scott’s blessing. ‘See you Better’ is for my mama. I tried to understand her better while she battled cancer but as the song developed it manifested into me wanting to be a better person for the people I love. She’s a tough woman and I’m so grateful for the person she’s helped me become. ‘Made of Sin’ is about not being able to understand why some of the people that work their way into our lives can treat us so terribly and how I was able to find the strength to heal from that. My love songs are about everyone and no one and some of my stories are about nothing yet everything but I love telling these stories and allowing the melodies to work hand in hand with the piano. It’s also incredibly important to me that these tales be told in their own unique way. It’s my diary, a place to hold my memories.
This EP may have taken a few years but this is exactly when it needed to be released. All tracks were recorded three years ago but I believe that I needed to grow as a woman to understand the type of artist I wanted to be and to give the space for these pieces to turn into the body of work that I am very proud to be releasing.
I’m not scared of the spectrum I possess as a writer. I can be delicate but I can be bold and I’ll never be afraid to show it all. I’ve never wanted to be pigeon holed and constantly feel the need to expand and explore what makes me a musician. This EP is only the beginning of that.”

Megan Nic Ruairí’s musical journey has been deeply influenced by her Irish heritage, a connection that shines through in her love for the Irish language and poetry, showcased as a member of family band Clann Mhic Ruairí. Japanese voice artist Hatis Noit‘s first full-length album for international release,Aura, was released on UK label Erased Tapes (Nils Frahm, Ólafur Arnalds) to widespread critical acclaim, and today she announces her upcoming EU winter tour and spring US tour dates. Dates include Brooklyn, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, as well as the 2024 edition of the Big Ears Festival in Knoxville this March. Tickets will be available here starting this Friday.

Hatis Noit has found fans in David Lynch, who selected her to perform at his 2019 Manchester International Festival showcase, and super-producer Rick Rubin, whose Showtime documentary series Shangri-La she appeared in.
Her track “Inori” was re-worked by American avant-garde composer William Basinski, while “Thor” received a shamanic techno remix by legendary UK DJ and producer Matthew Herbert.
She’s been making waves on the European music festival circuit with appearances at Womad, Rewire, Le Guess Who?, Nextones, and Sea Change) , as well as worldwide with appearances at Mutek JP and Wonderfruit, amongst others— receiving standing ovations wherever she goes. As The Guardian put it in their Ones to Watch column: “has been moving audiences to tears.”
Most recently she appeared at Mutek Montréal, where she captivated a 1500-strong audience that jumped out of their chairs, including her now North American booking agent Michaël Bardier of Heavy Trip (Alessandro Cortini, Arooj Aftab, Caterina Barbieri, Colin Stetson).
This was followed by Mutek México, where she was joined by a group of 12 dancers and circus acrobats, directed by multimedia artist Orly Anan, in front of a 2000-strong audience that sat on volcanic rock outside an Aztek museum. the Brooklyn based, genre blending rock band The Sees are thrilled to announce their album release show set for Wednesday, November 15 at The Bowery Electric in Manhattan.

Southern California garage rock band Foxtide releases their new EP Paradise. Bringing together a haughty aloofness in vocal delivery with themes of self-doubt and internalized fear, the product is a lightweight package of heavier introspection. Harkening back to the golden age of early 2000s rock, while experimenting with the stickiness of modern pop formulas, Foxtide shows off their youthfulness forged by the SoCal DIY scene – Stream Paradise.
Opening with “What Good Is It,” one of the EP’s previously released singles, listeners are immediately dropped into a landscape of yesteryears, giving a place and time for the body of work. Furthering their sense of guitar-driven nostalgia, “Bumps and Bruises” comes barreling in like a wave of head-on uncertainty. The band’s frontman Elijah Gibbins-Croft said, “’Bumps and Bruises’ is one of the first songs we wrote together. Reflecting the band’s environment, the song has a surfy, loose, yet sharp, sound. British producer/DJ and label owner Steve Lawler releases his new single ‘The More I Love You’ featuring Aquarius Heaven, out now via Dirtybird Records.
A rolling house stunner from one of clubland’s longtime favorites, ‘The More I Love You’ carries the underground aesthetic and rebellious nature deeply ingrained in Lawler’s signature style. Driven by dynamic percussion and robust melodies, Lawler crafts a hypnotic backdrop for Aquarius Heaven’s sensual vocals on ‘The More I Love You’. Pulling inspiration from Pezzner and Aquarius Heaven’s 2018 collaboration ‘We Are Not Who We Are’ on Get Physical, Lawler worked with Aquarius to re-record a fresh new original vocal for this release. Alternative-pop band, Valley – comprised of Rob Laska, Mickey Brandolino, Alex Dimauro, and Karah James – wrap up an eventful year with a holiday release, sharing a reimagined version of the Coldplay original “christmas lights” through Capitol Records/Universal Music Canada. Released last week, the Valley version has already garnered 178K global streams.
Initially released in 2010, Valley unanimously chose “Christmas Lights” to cover because of the special place the Coldplay original holds in their hearts around the holidays. Lead vocalist, Rob Laska reminisces, “I remember walking home from high school every December and listening to the original version of this song on repeat. I have a lot of beautiful memories playing it at home during the holidays on a piano my parents shipped from my grandparents’ house back in Poland. It’s a nostalgic and powerful song for me and it’s always felt like the perfect sonic depiction of what the holidays feel like for us.”
On their own version of “christmas lights,” the band shares, “we decided to reimagine the song through the lens of it feeling like an 80s ballad your grandpa throws on the record player in the other room by the tree while everyone’s at the table. This one’s almost meant to feel like a song that would soundtrack that last Christmas dinner with your grandparents or the final scene of a holiday episode of your choice. It’s sad to think about the people you love not being around forever and the holidays tend to remind us of their missing presence when they’re gone. Birmingham born, Bali based producer, audio engineer, and Inward Records label head Pippi Ciez returns to All Day I Dream to release his ethereal three track Limitless EP. 2023 has been a massive year for Pippi, leaving his mark on various labels including his own Inward Records, Hidden Hands, AireSoloSeriA, and TRYBESof, another of Lee Burridge’s esteemed imprints. The Limitless EP is a standout project of Pippi’s, showcasing musical sophistication that solidifies his place amongst melodic house royalty.
The EP’s titular track is uplifting from the get go. We are greeted with an isolated complex percussive pattern, but it’s not long before a charming melodic element is introduced. As Pippi continues to layer in additional melodic soundscapes, the track takes on an inspirational feel, true to its title. Around the halfway mark, the track breaks down, and a sharp synth solo takes the spotlight. As the synth notes climb higher and higher, the percussion is brought back in, before finally tension is released and we return back to the familiar melody of the track’s first half. For the final verse, Pippi introduces a portion of the track that is elegant yet high energy, before the various components of the track slowly fade out, and we are left with the same percussion that commenced the track.
The release of the Limitless EP comes at an exciting time for Pippi, having just completed a string of shows in Boston, New York, and Vegas, as well as a very special show with Lee Burridge at the legendary venue Savaya in Bali- which is where the two first played together back in 2021. Pippi will be ringing in the new year with two shows in Bali on December 29 and December 31, so keep your eyes peeled for when more information on those dates gets announced.

Produced by Tyler Spry and Simon Oscroft, “Homesick” was written by Stroll alongside Irish singer-songwriter Megan O’Neill. “Homesick is a feeling I think everyone experiences at least a few times in their lifetime,” Stroll said. “We can get homesick for more than just our home. As humans, we are constantly longing for something or someone that brings us comfort. In life, change is inevitable, which can be both scary and exciting at the same time, and this song reflects just that. Change is a constant in all of our lives and being homesick is ok and can come with that.”
