INsiders Guide: Tragic Sasha, JADA KINGDOM, Earthquake Lights, ALL DAY I DREAM, Deadbeats, Brownies & Lemonade, Lightning in a Bottle…

Kicking 2024 off with a bang, the eclectic talents of London based singer-songwriter Tragic Sasha shares her latest single ‘Call It Even’, where she melodically establishes a middle ground between wanting to defend herself and not having the energy to fight amid the fallout of a breakup, so deciding to just ‘call it even’.

Speaking on the story behind the song, Tragic Sasha expresses; “Call It Even” is a track about accepting the end of a relationship without focusing on who did the most damage. It’s one of the few tracks I wrote on my own and perhaps one of the easiest to write.”

Sonically, Sasha’s latest offering has a gripping atmospheric feel about it which is achieved by the song’s wispy dream-pop quality, comparable to the distorted production of the ever ethereal, The Japanese House. Her alluring, androgynous vocals, emotive lyricism and unique musicality makes this a strong entrance into the new year ahead, with much more to come in 2024.

Today’s release follows up from Sasha’s recent singles ‘Fishbowl’ and the stunning ‘Prettier in Person’, which was played by Jess Iszatt on BBC Radio 1 and both garnered support from buzzy spotify playlists like The Edge of Folk-Pop.

Fast-rising artist Jada Kingdom delivers her new song “Top Tier” today. Get it HERE. Watch the official music video HERE.

The official music premiered earlier today and vividly brings to life the essence of “Top Tier” as Jada showcases an alluring, superstardom energy that captures and captives viewers.

Jada Kingdom is paving her way to be one of the most praised voices from Jamaica on the path to becoming a global breakout star. She fully emerged with her hit single “Love Situations” in 2017 (9M + views on YouTube.) Fast forward to today, she has an array of hits, which include yet are not limited to “GPP (Good P*ssy Problems)” (10M + views on YouTube) and “WiN” (15M + Views on YouTube.) Her versatility stands to be undebatable from her ability to roar on a Dancehall track, much like her “WHICH GYAL FREESTYLE” (8M + views on YouTube) that showcases her ear for hip hop.  In the same breath, she delivers intoxicating tracks that highlight her vocal range and rich, distinctive tone, much like in her latest release, “Those Days,” which was released last month or “IDG1F” (1M + Views on YouTube).

Earthquake Lights is a four-piece rock outfit from NYC. Having all met during their time at college, the band quickly saw success with their very first EP, earning placements in a national NBA/Tissot ad campaign and an Alex Gibney documentary. Their music has received critical acclaim alongside multiple Spotify editorial playlists and a placement in Isabel Sandoval’s award-winning film Lingua Franca, as well as a feature on Vulfpeck’s album The Joy of Music, The Job of Real Estate.

Earthquake Lights kick off 2024 with the release of their new single, “Heartbeat.” Inspired by the loss of a vulnerable family member, the poignant track is a reminder to cherish our loved ones in the face of looming troubles. The band dig into the unpredictability and fear of loss, particularly with losing people sooner than you think. Lead singer Myles Rodenhouse shares, “It’s about that moment before the end – when you know it will end but do not know when exactly.”

The introspective song features a programmatic element to the arrangement, where the kick-drum and bass mimic the sound of a heart murmur. Taking inspiration from Japanese classical composers, Rodenhouse confides, “Melody takes a lot of reflection for me. Being on my own allows me to find something more personal.” “Heartbeat” is dedicated to the Mikel Sisters.

Acclaimed playwright/songwriter/performer Dan Fishback announces his new EP today. Ill I: Laughing with Lizards will be released on February 16. Watch the official hand-animated video for “Laughing with Lizards” here [directed and drawn by Dan Fishback; edited by Sean Puglisi].

Dan Fishback on the project: “Ill I: Laughing with Lizards is the first of three short albums, documenting feelings and impressions from my life as a chronically ill, queer Jew in an age of rising fascism. Ill (the word “ill” with a capital “i”) speaks to dysfunctional imbalances, not just within my own body, but within the body politic, and this first collection focuses on that political disorder. The subtitular track, Laughing with Lizards, explores the grief of witnessing injustice and the solace of knowing that ours is not the first generation to fight against overwhelming political cruelty.”

A full artist statement around the release can be found below.

About Dan Fishback

Playwright and songwriter Dan Fishback is perhaps best known for a performance that never happened. In 2017, the American Jewish Historical Society abruptly canceled a staged reading of his musical Rubble Rubble, citing his advocacy for Palestinian human rights. While Rubble Rubble’s cancellation provoked controversy, it was only one moment of crisis in Fishback’s ongoing artistic inquiry into the forbidden shadows of Jewish and queer life in the United States.

Fishback began performing in New York City in 2003, finding a home in the Lower East Side’s anti-folk scene and releasing several albums, both solo and with his band Cheese On Bread, which dropped its most recent recording The One Who Wanted More in 2018, along with a video for their song “Bad Friend,” directed by legendary underground queer filmmaker Stephen Winter, and featuring trans cabaret legend Justin Vivian Bond.

As a playwright, Fishback is known for comedic political theater, in which multiple time periods frequently collapse into each other, exploring legacies of historical trauma. The Material World, which found a family of Jewish socialist immigrants confronting the promise of Soviet utopianism in the 1920s, was called “quietly revolutionary” and “the best downtown musical in years” by Time Out New York in 2012, and his 2009 play You Will Experience Silence, which reframed the Chanukah story in the context of the Iraq War, was called “a forceful, often hilarious reflection on the politics of American occupation” by the Village Voice. Fishback’s 2011 solo performance thirtynothing confronted the then-under-discussed history of the early AIDS epidemic, and sought to understand the meaning of gay mass death for gay men who were children in those terrifying years.

In 2013, spurred by the political questions inherent in his thirtynothing project, Fishback founded The Helix Queer Performance Network–a programming platform designed to bring queer generations together and redress inequities in the world of queer arts and culture. He directed Helix’s slate of intergenerational festivals, workshops and public events through the platform’s conclusion in 2020, including La MaMa Experimental Theater’s annual festival La MaMa’s Squirts: Generations of Queer Performance, which continues today, now curated by Alexander Paris.

Fishback has myalgic encephalomyelitis–also known as chronic fatigue syndrome–and hosted the podcast Sick Day with Dan Fishback from 2018 through 2019. His work continues to engage with Jewish and queer political crises, always with a historical element, and with a newfound emphasis on disability justice, marked by Fishback’s experience as a high-risk person in a world that has ended collective efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID.

Artist Statement on Ill I: Laughing with Lizards

A few weeks after Trump’s election in 2016, I read that the Zionist Organization of America’s upcoming gala would honor Trump’s notoriously fascist advisor Steve Bannon. I immediately began laughing at the absurdity–a Jewish organization praising an antisemite for supporting Israel, while that same antisemite was empowering an unprecedented explosion of domestic antisemitism. But this laughing soon melted into crying, as my fear of fascism overwhelmed me.

I described this on social media, and asked, “Is there a Yiddish expression for laughing at fascism because it’s ridiculous, but also crying because it’s terrifying?” To my surprise, a friend responded that there basically is. To laugh out of bitterness (rather than joy) is lakhn mit yashtshterkes, literally translated as, “laughing with lizards.” Upon reading this, I was overwhelmed, not only by the surreal, mysterious beauty of the image, but by the tangible sense that my ancestors had gifted me with cultural wisdom, to prepare me for that moment. The problem was that I couldn’t readily access those gifts, because I did not speak Yiddish. Like so many members of so many displaced peoples, I dream in a language I do not speak.

Ill I: Laughing with Lizards is the first of three short albums, documenting feelings and impressions from my life as a chronically ill, queer Jew in an age of rising fascism. Ill (the word “ill” with a capital “i”) speaks to dysfunctional imbalances, not just within my own body, but within the body politic, and this first collection focuses on that political disorder. The subtitular track, Laughing with Lizards, explores the grief of witnessing injustice and the solace of knowing that ours is not the first generation to fight against overwhelming political cruelty. Hope Hurts, which I originally released as a music video in 2020, further digs into the intergenerational struggle of the Jewish left, expressing exhaustion at our defeats, but insisting upon hope despite absurd odds. A gentle interlude, Yr Beautiful / It’s Dangerous zooms into the dark, intimate details of political violence, depicting the aftermath of a homophobic street assault through the longing eyes of the survivor’s ex-lover. The dark rock track Take It All Away winds through a lifetime of violence–experienced, inherited and witnessed–in an insistent prayer to move beyond that pain. The collection ends with the orchestral lullaby The Beautiful Part–a self-reminder that moments of progress are always fleeting, and that justice will always require vigilance.

The music video for Laughing with Lizards, which I animated by hand, brings some levity to these themes of trauma, injustice and resistance. My protagonist, a young Jewish leftist, creates a golem (a sort of android protector from European Jewish folklore) out of mashed potatoes, in the shape of one of her shtetl ancestors. She and her Bubbe Golem go on adventures in Brooklyn, using the Bubbe Golem’s magic powers to right various wrongs. (They turn an I.C.E. detention center into an abortion clinic, they turn a cop into a baby goat, etc.) While the video was finished before last year’s October 7th Hamas attacks and the ensuing Israeli bombardment of Gaza, the video’s climax features the Bubbe Golem attending a Jewish solidarity rally for Palestine, where she confronts a Zionist counterprotestor and heals him of the pain that distorts his thinking. The gesture is part of a long history of left-wing Jewish resistance to Zionism–a phenomenon that grows more powerful and urgent by the day.

Ill I: Laughing with Lizards marks my first solo recording in over a decade, and, to be honest, I spent much of the last several years assuming I would never record again. I have myalgic encephalomyelitis–also known as chronic fatigue syndrome–a disease that punishes my body for intense exertion. The process of recording an album is physically grueling, and as my condition has worsened, my future in music seemed more and more unlikely. And so none of these songs or videos would exist if it were not for my producer Matt Katz, who invited me into a recording process built around my own limitations. The result has been slow-going, but illuminating and rewarding, thanks to Matt’s kindness and omnipotent musical talent.

All of these themes of history, trauma and illness collide in the Ill I: Laughing with Lizards album art by Avram Finkelstein, the legendary artist and activist who co-created many of the most iconic images from the early AIDS activism movement, including SILENCE=DEATH. The album art is a detail from his stunning 2023 mural, Tourist (BRAF V600E Mutation J/6), in which a drawing of the January 6th insurrection (with graphite marks distinguished by Avram’s hand tremors) is overlaid with a similar graphite rendering of Avram’s own cancer cells–as though Avram’s cancer is invading the Capitol building. When you are sick, and the world is also sick, it can all feel like the same thing. I am lucky to have a friend like Avram, who has fought these battles before, just as I am lucky to have ancestors who have fought and learned and left their gifts for me to find along my own way. Ill I: Laughing with Lizards is a collection of songs about living through dark times, but these songs also insist that we are not alone, that we are not the first, and that we are not the last.

Lone star indie rockers Broken Gold today share their soul-searching new single “Spiraling”. The track is the band’s first release in three years and finds the often-commandeered road warriors reunited for a song that cuts close to home (or should that be the road). Discussing the single, and its accompanying video, frontman Ian MacDougall explains, “Spiraling is about the endless struggle to make ends meet. The countless temporary jobs you get where they’ll be cool about you going on tour when you’re home. The way that being away for all these years takes its toll on your understanding of which version of your life is your ‘normal’ life.”

It’s a feeling each band member knows well. MacDougall is a member of cult, Texan punks Riverboat Gamblers, spent 5 years with Band Of Horses, and has been drafted into countless other punk and crust band tours. Bobby Daniel (bass) provides low-end to legendary Austin songwriter Alejandro Escovedo and Ben Lance (guitar) is part of anthemic rockers Mountain Time, while drummer Sam Rich has served stints in Del-Vipers and Black Books. While they all call Austin, TX, “home”, they’ve all put in their fair share of miles performing across the globe.

Comedic genius Kyle Gordon has shared his newest single “My Life (Is The Worst Life Ever) [feat. Our Wounded Courtship]”, out now via BMG. Produced by Jamie Siegel (Taking Back Sunday, Patrick Stump, Dashboard Confessional), the new track harkens back to the golden days of emo – jet black hair, chipped painted nails, loud guitars, and an even louder hatred for the world. With a new music video that would seem right at home on MTV in the mid-2000’s, “My Life (Is The Worst Life Ever)” is an instant anthem that will appeal to both now-grown Warped Tour kids and casual listeners alike.

“My Life (Is The Worst Life Ever) [feat. Our Wounded Courtship]” is available to stream now at https://kylegordon.lnk.to/MyLifeIsTheWorstLifeEverPR.

“This song and music video is about how I hate everyone at my high school,” says Our Wounded Courtship’s vocalist, Raven Shadowbane. “They’re all sheep just following orders in the United Waste of America, and also I hate my girlfriend too. I hope you like it, and if not you’re a stupid idiot.”

“My Life (Is The Worst Life Ever) [feat. Our Wounded Courtship]” will be featured on the upcoming debut album from Kyle GordonKyle Gordon Is Great, out March 1 via BMG. Featuring smash hit “Planet Of The Bass (feat. DJ Crazy Times & Ms. Biljana Electronica)”, “Girls Are The Best (feat. Tanya McCabe)”, and “Ugliest Girl On The Beach (feat. Antonio Frankfurt)”, Kyle Gordon Is Great is the culmination of years of characters and genre parodies that Kyle has developed and perfected in his one-of-a-kind live shows.

Bozeman, MT-based alt-Americana-tinged bluegrass outfit the Kitchen Dwellers are thrilled to share “The Crow and The Raven (III)” which features Lindsay Lou on vocals, John Mailander on Fiddle, and Kaitlin Raitts on cello. This is the third single to be released off the band’s forthcoming studio album Seven Devils – out March 1 via No Coincidence Records – and is accompanied by a cinematic and captivating music video directed by Kayla Arend. “I am really proud of this one,” says Kayla, “It is a beautifully heartbreaking representation of Old West meeting New West, in this new world of 2024. This clash of cultures has been accelerated and exacerbated by the pandemic and the struggle of what it means to be an American today. Cowboys are purely an American thing, but what does it mean when our definition of the West is changing?”

Kayla studied film, photography and entomology at Montana State University before earning her Master’s degree in writing-directing at NYU Tisch School of the Arts. Her graduate thesis film, Leaving Yellowstone, was executive produced by Spike Lee and won several awards for Best Director, Best Actor and Best Cinematography.

As to the song itself, Torrin Daniels explains, “I wrote ‘The Crow and The Raven’ in the spring of 2018 after undergoing the end of a relationship. A lot of things came to mind in the process, but the thing I most commonly thought about was how sometimes a person’s intent may be misleading. You may not actually know who they are. It doesn’t mean they’re a bad person, but sometimes people don’t feel comfortable enough in themselves to show you who they really are. Sometimes those subtleties are hard to make out. The comparison came forth in deciphering a crow from a raven and how there are only a few differences that can only be made out at a close distance. The metaphor inspired the song. I returned to the piece in 2022 and worked on it with my friend, Elliott Blaufuss who helped me to see the story from the audience’s point of view better. I’m extremely proud of the way this came together… it’s got a massive feeling that’s grown so much from the sound of the little camp guitar it was written on.”

‘Who was born in India, raised in a religious cult, signed to a major record deal as a teenager and later married into an iconic musical family?

Answer: Verdict’s latest signing, Queeny King, (born Marieangela King), a self described “Alt-Pop Anarchist” who has consistently found herself on the precipice of that very surreal existence…a world where real life and the hard to believe collide and rarely, if ever, coexist. Yet, this is the world she inhabits.

Queeny comes from a large musical family, raised by parents who encouraged her and her equally gifted siblings to chase the music dream. Raised in 30 countries, her passport tells only part of her story – offering but a small glimpse into a life that few of us could ever imagine and will probably never know.

Queeny and her family lived a truly nomadic cult life. Paradoxically, she cut her teeth on Christian music before eventually transitioning to the more secular and mainstream POP genre and it was during this same time (2007) that she and her siblings secured a major recording contract which ultimately led to a signing with EMI Germany as “The King Family Band”.

New York City’s premier underground event collective Teksupport have announced a special, daytime open-air show on May 18th with electronic music icon Solomun. Kicking off Teksupport’s summer season, the daytime show will take place at a TBA new outdoor location offering full views of the NYC skyline.

Solomun remains one of clublands most seminal characters, a purveyor of eclectic musical journeys. The Bosnian producer’s signature transcendent style dominates the club scene, leading to acclaimed Ibiza residency Solomun +1, and the founding of his own label Dynamic Music.

Teksupport previously hosted two monumental open-air events with Solomun last May at the Brooklyn Army Terminal, becoming the first large-scale electronic music parties to happen at the location. The TBA location for this year’s upcoming show will serve as Teksupport’s largest open-air dance floor to date.

Led by founder Rob Toma, Teksupport has spent the last decade shaping the nightlife landscape of NYC through cutting edge production, unparalleled musical curation, and never-before-used locales. Pushing the boundaries of traditional nightlife, Teksupport has been the driving force behind some of the most important collisions of club culture, high fashion and technology in recent years. The pioneering event visionaries expanded beyond NYC to throw events across the nation, positioning themselves as the premiere partner for stateside takeovers from global institutions.

East London’s indie-pop singer-songwriter Millie Turner returns to the music scene with her first single since 2021, titled ‘Venus’. The ethereal and spirited song is laced with an enchanting quality that is the direct product of the eclectic artistry of its creator- an intricate, creative mind that carries a unique outlook on the physical and metaphysical world.

Speaking on the inspiration behind the release, Millie Turner shares; “Venus is a song all about the creative psyche which is an inner world that we cannot touch, but where everything is happening and everything is possible and creativity lives in a cave. Its power is so strong that some want to go up, travel through space, and go to the desert psyche, catch Venus, mine the soil, and show it off to the world. But beauty is not that simple. The song is about someone who is witnessing this horror as the rockets go to space, on the hunt for Venus. The song is an ode to true beauty which is more mysterious and can never be held down, sold, or even touched. And that drives the world crazy.”

With Venus being the quintessential icon of femininity and beauty, Millie Turner’s track acts as a celebration of the desirability and elusive beauty in femininity and illustrates it as something that should be protected and honoured. ‘Venus ‘ is a beautiful take on this age-old concept and details it in a way that spotlights Millie’s charming storytelling abilities.

Returning today with her first offering since her single ‘Made A Vow’ and her mini-album ‘Eye of the Storm’ in 2021, which was an 8 track project that garnered reputable support from tastemakers The Line of Best Fit, Dork Magazine and Billboard, today’s single acts as Millie’s mighty return to music in a mysterious, one of a kind way.

Continuing to carve his path and create buzz, Folk-Indie singer songwriter, Hans Williams, releases his most vulnerable song to date, “Skin.” Get it HERE.

The Vermont-raised, New Orleans-based independent artist sheds back the layers on this imposter syndrome anthem,as he delves into the relatable feelings of self-doubt and hypercriticism, “under my skin, where you hide, tearing me apart one piece at a time.” Fighting the urge to give up, he reminds himself to push those feelings away and continue to trust the process, “when I feel it creepin’ in, that’s when I give it all away.”

“’Skin’ is a letter to the hypercritical part of myself – a reminder to not take it too seriously,” says Hans. It’s for every time I’ve questioned why I make music and who I make it for. It’s helped me come to terms with my self-perception and I hope it could do the same for others.

With the promise of more music to come, the singer-songwriter was also just announced as a performer at Hinterland Festival in Iowa on August 3rd where he will be sharing a stage alongside the likes of Noah Kahan, Hozier, Lizzy McAlpine and Vampire Weekend.

FRANKIE FLOWERS is an emerging alternative artist from Waterloo, ON. She creates a genre bending sound by merging her love for dark-wave and post-punk music, as well as combining elements from other genres. In 2022, she had the opportunity to open for Kennyhoopla on his, ‘SURVIVOR’S GUILT’ tour – the ‘SURVIVOR’S GUILT’ album was co-produced in it’s entirety by Travis Barker. Since then, her music has been played in the NHL’s Hockey Night live broadcast, and has been featured in Indie 88’s, ‘Songs you need to discover’. FRANKIE seeks to create a dark, psychedelic, and eclectic vibe at her shows and through listening to her music that urges you to escape reality and experience the unknown.

acclaimed Irish indie rock band Pillow Queens announce their third studio album Name Your Sorrow, due out April 19 and available for pre-order now. Alongside the big news, the band share the honest, roaring track “Gone” out everywhere now. Plus, Pillow Queens announce a fresh string of live dates throughout the UK this June with pre-sale beginning tomorrow, January 25 and the general on-sale beginning Friday, January 26. The band’s biggest show to date is set for July 13 at Dublin, Ireland’s Iveagh Gardens with tickets on sale now via pillowqueens.com/live.

The band’s triumphant third full-length album Name Your Sorrow finds the group at their most vulnerable and self-assured as they explore themes of queerness, insecurity, desire and heartbreak as well as the positivity and strength that can grow from pain. Produced by Collin Pastore (Lucy Dacus, boygenius) at Analogue Catalogue in Northern Ireland, the collection sees the group chart new territory as they give fans an all new, uninhibited look at both their artistry and humanity. With masterful instrumentation and raw lyricism, the quartet immerse listeners in a robust, emotionally-charged sonic world like never before.

Each of the twelve tracks peel back an additional layer of the human condition, from grief to joy and everything in between, culminating in a collective catharsis–a newfound sense of strength and hope in a greater sense of self. With moments of harmony and contradiction, lead guitarist and vocalist Cathy McGuinness calls the album one of intensity, loneliness and love. “It is about stages of love, loss and grief and how they can all exist alongside one another–intertwined, messy, beautiful–how both love and loss can coexist.” Tucked away in the quiet Irish countryside, the group bonded deeply, laughing, cooking for each other and playing games which resulted in a safe, supportive environment that allowed each musician to experiment, mess up, and try again. Pillow Queens credit Irish poet Eavan Bolan, English poet John Keats, and British writer C.S. Lewis among their literary inspirations during the writing process, and musically, influences range from Vampire Weekend to Barbara Streisand to Frank Ocean, Tool and Lana Del Rey.

Alaina Pamela, a rising singer and producer of French-Canadian and West Indian heritage, has released the music video for her single, “Feel You Here.” The song, co-written by Alaina Pamela and her husband, Michael Kim-Sheng, is a captivating exploration of the emotions that follow the end of a relationship. The music video is a story about a break-up, where Alaina is coming to terms with the loss of someone and the ghostly feeling that follows. While they are gone, she continues to feel the presence, reminiscing about the good times. However, in the present, she finds herself encapsulated in a cold and digital atmosphere. “Feel You Here” was the third song ever written by the duo, originating during the Halloween season with Alaina playing Halloween songs for her husband, who was inspired to create the beat for the track. Written directly after their first break-up song, “Can’t Be Your Friend,” Alaina and Michael crafted a song that captures the essence of feeling alone after a relationship. The music video, directed by Kay Zhang, features cinematography by Eris Zhao and stars actor Cristian Acevedo.

He steps out from behind the scenes as a highly sought-after writer and producer, placing his multi-layered solo artistry on center-stage. During the latter part of last year, he teased his highly anticipated return, unleashing heavy-hitting covers and music arrangements to PARTYNEXTDOOR’s “Break From Toronto” here and Usher’s “You Make Me Wanna…” here.

With a growing catalog that’s poised to expand further this year, Major Myjah has built a discography having earned placements from Chris Brown’s “Lost & Found,” and Usher’s  “Say What You Want” “Birthday” “ATA” to Ro James featuring Miguel “Too Much” and Rotimi’s “What’s The Cost.”

Edinburgh based brothers Dubinski release their brand new single ‘New York Arizona and This’. Offering commentary on the struggles of an independent, touring band, the track promises to induce feelings of nostalgia whilst leaving you itching to visit Camden Town. Produced by Grammy award winners Mike Horner (Franz Ferdinand, Placebo, Hot Chip) and Robbie Nelson (Beck, Royal Blood, The Kooks), the song provides an honest insight to the highs and lows of being a touring band in the UK. Stream the single hereWatch the video here.

Speaking of the new track, singer Eugene says, “This is a song written about driving from Edinburgh to London to play shows with no idea of what to expect. We were DIY and trying to push our touring as much as we could, only to be occasionally ripped off by venues and promoters, or playing to rooms of people that didn’t seem to give a damn about the music or the scene, to then make the long journey back home to Scotland”

He continues, “Experiencing London, Camden in particular, as a country lad from Scotland, was eye opening in a bittersweet way. Some expectations were fulfilled and others were brought down to earth, like the magic buzz around hip bars, meeting trendy people, the romantic notion of a city of opportunity paired with the dirty, fast paced, ‘take no prisoners’ atmosphere that comes with a big city. The chorus is about dreaming of touring the States and having worldwide recognition, leaving the DIY scene behind and proving to the unwilling, the ‘too cool to move’ scene kids, that we are worth paying attention to”

With every release, Teenage Dads unapologetically embrace their eccentricities without shame or apology. Fresh off the back of taking home the 2023 Michael Gudinkski Breakthrough Artist ARIA Award, Teenage Dads return with their latest single “Tale Of A Man” – a bright and beatific track to soundtrack the Summer to come.

Known and loved for their colourful arrangements of jangly guitars, catchy riffs and infectious melodies, “Tale Of A Man” showcases both breeziness and depth from the breakthrough act with a very Vampire Weekend-esque ring to it. Speaking about the upbeat and infectious new track, vocalist Jordan says:

“Tale of a Man is about your favourite friend and the loving and adventurous relationship that you share, and the challenges you face due to periods of separation. In spite of this you remain invested in your future together, as you lie in wait for what lies ahead for you both.”

To mark the occasion, Teenage Dads have also revealed the official video for “Tale Of A Man”. To compliment the fun and adventure within the single, the band explain: “it only felt right to capture that but in a fairy tale fashion for the official video clip. The tale follows 4 friends who evade a monster across baron fields, coastlines and seas all in search of their dream destination, Paris.” Shot on location in Mornington Peninsula, the band add “We shot the video really close to home, however these places that we’ve grown up in suddenly felt fantastical once we were clothed in real chain mail. It really felt like a step back in time.” Watch it here

one of Britain’s most cherished soul & jazz singers, Sarah Jane Morris releases ‘The Sisterhood’ the brand new single and title track from her forthcoming album, out on International Women’s Day (March 8 2024) – her most joyously life-affirming album yet.

Co-written and produced with her right hand man Tony Rémy, ‘The Sisterhood’ track is an infectiously funky salutation to Aretha Franklin, with the groove and vocal snap of a dancefloor anthem, yet steeped in the classic gospel sound that Sarah Jane Morris seems to have absorbed into her DNA. The accompanying video includes live footage from her recent headline show at London’s Cadogan Hall, at which she debuted the entire record.

London based pop singer-songwriter Cristina Hart kicks off 2024 by sharing her brand new single ‘Like My Father’. As a whole, the gentle melodies that are blended with Cristina’s lyrical sensibility makes this a powerful opener into the new year for this rising talent. ‘Like My Father’ has just been announced as BBC Introducing Essex and Cambridegshire’s Track Of The Week. The song is available on all streaming services now, distributed via Apollo

Speaking on the story behind the track, Cristina expresses; “I wrote ‘Like My Father’ about my fear of abandonment. I think sometimes we can all feel like we’re either too much or not enough; and at our worst, our mind can even convince us that we’re unlovable. This song is about that unspoken but very real insecurity.”

Melancholic in sound and in sentiment, Cristina opens up about her ‘complicated’ relationship with her father, and reflects on the way that it has bled into other relationships in her life. The effects of these complications have a way of influencing the way you approach situations and people later on in life, as well as affecting your trust for other people, and in ‘Like My Father’ Cristina articulates this poetically, with grace. It is an honest and sincere account that leaves you feeling sympathetic to her situation, but for those who have experienced similar heartbreak in the family home, it is sure to resonate with them on many levels.

In 2023, Cristina Hart released singles ‘Crash’, ‘Too Young To Die’ and most recently ‘Rewind’, which was very well received and found its way onto Spotify playlists like New Music Friday UK, Fresh Finds UK & IE, New Pop UK. Cristina has also had continuous support from BBC Introducing throughout the years, as well as recently being played on BBC Radio 1 on Mollie King’s Future Pop Show. Entering 2024 with this emotionally raw single, Cristina Hart cements her place in the UK Pop scene, with music more on the way!

With a relentless drive to write, collaborate and record, Cristina Hart will be releasing two sister EPs ‘Online Therapy’ and ‘Therapy Notes’ throughout 2024. The first of the EPs is the more vulnerable, intimate one with songs that will make you tap into those emotions that you’ve tried to repress but that should come out eventually if you want to find closure.

Exploding into the new year with a potent dose of euphoria, Kirsty Grant puts her best foot forward with brand new single ‘Outerbody’.

Listen HERE

A track destined to repel the January blues, Outerbody arrives as a triumphant pop banger, transporting you into blissful escapism. Sharing more about the track, Kirsty explained: I wanted to make a song that would make me feel out of my body.

A few days before we wrote it, I was in a queue for a concert and was making a playlist on Spotify and happened to name it “Outerbody”. I named it that as I was trying to piece together all of my favourite songs, and noticed that every track I was adding reminded me of a concert I’d been to, memories, or felt like escapism.

I would love the listener to actually experience the song, and be taken out of whatever stresses they are dealing with, and get lost in it. I love that the lyrics describe how you can be on your own, or surrounded by people in a club, but when your favourite song comes on, you can just be taken out of everything and be in a world of your own.

Originally hailing from Scotland but now based in London, emerging artist Kirsty Grant has been nurturing her undeniable talent for merging personal lyricism with hypnotic pop-hooks.

A commanding and modern voice representing the eternal nature of classic folk, Asia Chow today releases her cover of The Weeknd’s “Save Your Tears.” Guided by her emotionally charged vibrato that swells to fill the entire universe, and a forlorn lap steel guitar that tugs at the heart, Chow’s reimagining of this pop staple truly reinvents it – Stream

“I was listening to the song and was struck by the contrast of the more upbeat pop vibe and the sadness of the lyrics,” Chow shares. “I thought it would be interesting to try an alternative version — one that aims to highlight the more desperate voice the words can communicate.”

Asia Chow stepped triumphantly out into the indie-folk scene with her debut single “Days Unchanged” at the end of 2023. Her first delicate and confessional offering won the praise of Vogue China and Flaunt, as well as editorial support on Spotify’s Fresh Folk and Today’s Singer-Songwriters, as well as Apple Music’s Breaking Singer-Songwriter and Acoustic Memories. Relying on her own tenacity and creative community that surrounds her, Chow’s first release created ripples much larger than she could have initially imagined.

Los Angeles noise-punks Molly Horses return today with King Dundalk”, a pulsing track about letting your ego ruin you. Near-motorik drums drive the track into crashes of noise wall oblivion as vocalist Harry James laments the dangers of alienating yourself in pursuit of finite pleasures. Recorded at Train Song in the fall of 2023 by Molly Horses themselves, “King Dundalk” is the feel-good-feel-bad hit of the particularly long winter. “Nobody can get through to you and still have strength left” offers a final warning of the consequences we face when we don’t learn to climb out of rock bottom, but rather keep digging. Major chords sell, but who’s dancing?

“King Dundalk” follows the release of the groups debut single “Beatty”, which served up a punishing four-on-the-floor march sandwiched between walls of harsh noise jumpscares. It’s four minutes playing host to vignettes of auto maintenance mishaps, teen labor, frozen treats, and the discomfort of aging. The result was an illustration of the anxiety that the future might be a little too certain. While these two singles carry the influential echoes of Molly Horses’ beloved post-punk forebearers, they also channel the raw urgency and chaos of four people transplanted from small town living and into the beating heart of the City of Angels.

Molly Horses formed in 2023 when members of east coast bands FonFon Ru and Ted Leo & The Pharmacists converged in L.A as day jobs drew them to the land of film. A DIY mindset runs central to the band’s process and allows them to take complete creative control of their destiny. “Beatty” and “King Dundalk” were written, recorded, mixed, and mastered at home. Debut album prep is currently underway as the band feverishly harness these earliest days to build a testament to youthful dysfunction and cynical optimism.

Rising singer-songwriter Natalie Del Carmen shares her new single, “You Weren’t Even Listening,” a track that promises to be as long-winded and lyrically rich as it is fun and flippant. The Los Angeles native, known for her acute exploration of the folk-Americana genre interlaced with pop, has once again joined forces with celebrated Billboard chart-topping producer Zack Burke (Blackbear, Berner) to create a song that embodies the essence of a light-hearted, albeit lengthy, musical story. “You Weren’t Even Listening” is now available to stream and download.

“You Weren’t Even Listening” stems from Natalie Del Carmen’s desire to reflect the often-overlooked monologues in relationships through her music. The song captures the poignant moment when the realization dawns that despite saying everything, perhaps nothing was truly heard. But it’s not all somber; Natalie Del Carmen infuses the song with her characteristic wit and playful spirit, making the music resonate with a joyful undertone. The track is an invitation to look beyond the surface of communication, to find humor in misunderstanding, and to embrace the reality that sometimes, even when the listening stops, life goes on. Natalie Del Carmen’s lyrics are clever and insightful, wrapped in the warmth of her embrace, with a delivery that’s both confident and endearing. Reflecting on her collaboration with Burke, she shares, “Working with Zack is always a blast. He’s the kind of producer who really listens and brings every idea to life. It’s like throwing a party where every guest is an idea, and the best one stays for dinner.”

self-taught songwriter/producer Artemas shares his latest high energy, explosive single, “ur special to me.” Listen HERE via 10K Projects.

With its rumbling bassline and hard-hitting drums, Artemas’ new track “ur special to me” combines his grunge sensibilities with pop ear worm melodies. Like much of the London-based musician’s infectious creations, the new track is an esoteric approach to pop music, fusing Artemas’ influences seamlessly through his unique voice, production style, and songwriting. Contrasting intoxicating, breathy falsetto lines over a distorted bass and hard-hitting drums, he creates a mysterious, dark anthem that blurs the boundaries of genre. Along with the brand new song, Artemas has announced his upcoming mixtape which includes previously released tracks like “if u think I’m pretty” “just want u to feel something” and “cross my heart.”

If Artemas’ dazzling falsetto sounds familiar, it’s most likely because of his inescapable smash if u think i’m pretty,” which has racked up an astonishing 45 million streams and over 100K TikTok videos since its release in October. Coming out of massive highs from last year’s release, he dropped “prettygrunge.wav” the grunge version of his massive hit “if u think I’m pretty,” deviating from the formula of releasing a sped-up and slowed-down version of each song. Earlier this week, he debuted on Zane Lowe’s “24 for ‘24” – a roster curated by Lowe and Jeremy Degan to spotlight the new artists to watch in 2024.

rising R&B artist Lily Massie unveils her latest song, “So Good” featuring platinum-selling recording artist Amanda Perez. The rapturous release beams bright within the spectrum of R&B, Soul, and Pop as Lily and Amanda share experiences related to a compelling and lavish look into lust. Both artists brilliantly tackle the track to a climactic stance and dazzle listeners with their swooning, melodic force as one.

Amassing over 5M + streams on Spotify solely over the years, Lily Massie has built a cult following that has shined a light on her artistic prowess and appeal from audiences nationwide. After attracting a devout audience across social media and generating millions of views and streams independently, rising Michigan-born Gen-Z troubadour Eli Wilson unveils a new single entitled “Over My Head” out now via 10K Projects. Listen to “Over My Head” HERE.

Back with another intimate anthem, his falsetto rings out over softly strummed acoustic guitar on “Over My Head. Breathy verses give way to a confessional, yet catchy chorus as he admits, “I know I’ve never felt like this before. I’m over my head. I’m out of my mind. Showcasing a towering range, he stretches his voice from vulnerable to visceral. Leading up to the anticipated release, the track has accumulated over 6 million views on Eli Wilson’s socials!

You’ll know exactly how Eli Wilson feels the moment you listen to him. His stark honesty and spirited delivery cut right to the core, allowing raw emotion to bleed through his heartfelt songwriting as he blurs the lines between pop, folk, emo, and alternative. Devoting himself to his craft, he spent countless hours, writing and recording at home in Michigan. In between a job at Papa John’s, he uploaded music to TikTok, building a fanbase organically. He impressively generated over 2.3 million “likes” as tracks such as “Problems,” “Holiday, and “50/50” gained traction across DSPs. During 2023, he achieved a breakthrough with “I Always Feel” [with Promoting Sounds],amassing over 10 million streams across the Original and Sped Up versions.

However, everything just paves the way for more music to come from Eli in 2024.
