Halle Bailey has been cast in Universal Pictures’ new musical that still remains untitled at this stage. Deadline reports Bailey has been cast in a role, and that the musical will be directed by Michel Gondry and produced by Pharrell Williams.
The musical will also star Kelvin Harrison Jr. and recent Da’Vine Joy Randolph. Deadline also reports that the musical will be set in 1977 Virginia Beach and “draws inspiration from Williams’ childhood growing up in the city’s Atlantis Apartments.”
The script for the film was written by Martin Hynes and Steven Levenson.
