Horizon’s Glance marches into your ears like a squadron of juggernauts.
Driven warbly guitars jangle like a death knell to all things ordinary. Inspired by the likes of Elbow’s “Grounds for Divorce” and The Smiths “How Soon is Now”.
Spangled have been reborn in the new year with a collection of songs that span funk, indie pop, rock and anthems in their journey to forge music that will stand the test of time continues.
The collection of songs soon to be announced encapsulates what the band is about, being different, having a laugh along the way and experimenting with new music.
Horizon’s Glance marks the start of this next chapter, there is more to come. It’s about a Chinese takeaway I made up in my head. It’s a magical place. It’s where I go to when I’m feeling down. The magical Chinese takeaway in my noggin. You should try it.Ben Johnson (Vocals)
It started out as quite a folky tune I wrote on an acoustic guitar with the swung guitar rhythm. Ben suggested we make it a bit heavier (boy was he right). I’d just got a tremolo pedal and it was the perfect opportunity to try it out, I used it for the intro and first verse and I love it, the tremolo gives it a sinister kinda vibe

With the release of the new single, “Simple Touch,” the self-proclaimed “demented pop” chanteuse Eddy Lee Ryder announces the release date for her first full-length album, Sweet Delusions. Synthesizing timeless songcraft, dramatic introspection,
and infinite pop smarts to create a breathtaking song cycle of apocalyptic romance and anxious regret, badly broken hearts, and wishful hope for the future, Sweet Delusions will be available on August 2, 2024. Quirky and charming while still precise and powerfully personal, Sweet Delusions reveals Eddy Lee Ryder as a one-of-a-kind new artist, her unabashed heartache and beguiling humor completely her own yet as identifiable and real as any of our own. New single, “Simple Touch,” exemplifies Ryder’s witty but deeply reflective songwriting, offering up a keenly detailed snapshot of secret intimacies, small cruelties, and a relationship gone horribly south. “Before I began dating my ex, there was a point I thought, ‘Is it awkward how many times I’m running into him?’” Ryder recalls. “To stave off the weirdness my thought process immediately went to, ‘I know what would make this less awkward: I’ll wear a disguise! Grab a wig and sunglasses and next time I see him, he won’t recognize me.’” Fortunately, they shared a sense of humor, and jokingly began calling each other stalkers, but “in an endearing way,” paving the lyrical foundation for songs like “Simple Touch” and the album’s title track.
musician and writer Scott Guild shares the haunting track “Only Killers,” a collaboration with Cindertalk & Stranger Cat out now. The song is the latest release from his forthcoming Plastic: The Album, due May 31. The LP is the musical component of his ambitious book-and-album project, which includes his acclaimed debut novel, Plastic, out now via Penguin Random House.
Plastic is set in a future world of plastic figurines, and “Only Killers,” out today, illuminates a dark episode in the story. Erin, the main character, is caught in an eco-terror attack at her workplace, and her song decries both the terrorists’ violence and the deadly climate crisis that fuels their rage. The singer Stranger Cat (a frequent collaborator of Sharon Van Etten and Sufjan Stevens) brings Erin to life on the track, capturing her pain and confusion while the propulsive bass and distorted horns mirror her fraught emotions, underscored by unique, staccato percussion.
Guild feels a deep personal connection to this track, and adds, “‘Only Killers’ might be my most personal song on the album, even though it’s sung from Erin’s perspective. It captures so much of my anxiety in this moment, the fear that every sane person feels for our planet’s future. We try to distract ourselves, but that undercurrent of dread is always there.”
Plastic: The Album tells the story of the novel through a cycle of dynamic baroque-pop songs. Stranger Cat stars on the record, singing in the voice of Erin, embodying her struggles. While many of the tracks use lyrics from the musical numbers in the book (where the figurines break into song), the tracks also branch off in their own directions, expanding the plastic universe of the story. “All my life, I’ve been obsessed with art that pushes boundaries,” Guild says of telling a story through music and prose, “especially boundaries of genre and format. Kate Bush with her high-concept videos, Anohni’s work with Marina Abramovic—I love art that creates an immersive world, that lets me lose myself in someone’s vision. That’s my hope with Plastic: to find new ways to tell a story, to put people in a vivid space of imagination. It might sound silly, but I’ve grown very close to Erin through the years. I’m excited for everyone to meet her.”

Pride Month Barbie is an L.A. synth-pop duo formed in 2022 by solo artists Tyler Holmes and Josephine Shetty (aka Kohinoorgasm). As Libras, sluts, drama queens, and judgmental bitches, PMB brings a sound and performance that will leave you feeling insecure, horny, and annoyed. Inspired by early 2000’s celebutante culture, the films of Gregg Araki, and acts like Handsome Furs, Yaz, Light Asylum, and New Order, PMB brings a dark sense of humor to a candied electronic gloss. Drawing from the indie pop culture of the 80’s, 90’s and early aughts, PMB harkens the bittersweet, nostalgic purity of early synth titans, parodies the current zeitgeist, and imagines a glittering future encompassing the dystopic and utopic simultaneously.
Shetty and Holmes met at San Francisco’s El Rio while sharing a bill as their solo acts in 2016. They remained adjacent figureheads in the DIY experimental pop underground of Oakland and Berkeley in the 2010’s and shared many bills, collaborators, friends, and mutual experiences amidst an underground network of eclectic baddies from SF to LA. They both have a prolific catalog of solo music and have performed and toured in art and music spaces across the US and Europe.
In 2022, Shetty offered engineering services while Holmes was working on an upcoming solo album at a residency in rural Northern California. Upon wrapping, Holmes shared some of the electronic pop work they had made as a reprieve from their sad experimental music. Shetty was immediately eager to sing over the tracks and expeditiously demolished the demo with beautiful harmonies and hooks. PMB’s debut single was created almost on the spot. Shetty asked ‘did we just start a band?’
PMB will be releasing their debut album June 14, 2024

The Dangerous Summer are thrilled to announce their forthcoming record, Gravity, out June 21st via Rude Records.
Pre-save Gravity on streaming services HERE. For vinyl, merch and custom item pre-orders visit HERE.
To celebrate, the band have also shared their brand new single, “Gravity,” out now. A perfect way to begin a new era of The Dangerous Summer, “Gravity” is a powerful anthem about overcoming personal darkness and navigating the mysteries of the unknown. The tracks’ mystical instrumentals alongside Perdomo’s dreamlike vocals offers listeners a provoking glimpse into the band’s soul-searching journey through space to find their unique sound.
Speaking on the track, lead singer, AJ Perdomo shares, “‘Gravity’ almost never happened. It had an old name – ‘The Walls Outside,’ with completely different lyrics. A week before the end of the record, I locked myself in my room for 2 and a half days. It was kind of a breaking point in the record, but it turned out to be filled with so much heart, that it ended up as the first single. It really encapsulates the album. The lonely journey we spent out in space finding our sound. There were times where I thought that we would never make it back.”
DJ Holographic shares her first release of 2024, a cosmic new single titled “Aries.”
Forged in the timeless house and techno hotbed of Detroit, DJ Holographic’s sound stems directly from some of the earliest pioneers of the genre. With mentors such as Detroit legends Carl Craig and Mike Banks and Underground Resistance affiliate John Collins, DJ Holographic is a cornerstone of the newest wave of innovative dance music artists born and raised in the Motor City.
Released to mark the start of the Zodiac year, “Aries” exhibits the funky, futuristic sound of her hometown with a plucky bassline, stellar synths, and an immaculate groove. The track epitomizes Holographic’s spiritual approach to creation, using the Aries sign as a starting point for everything a new year promises.
“In this deeply personal musical endeavor, I am crafting authentic and spirited songs that resonate with the unique energy of the Zodiac as I embark on this creative and healing journey drawing upon my own personal experiences.
I am using the process of creating this song as a powerful healing tool for my soul. Join me on this healing journey that only music can bring us together.” — DJ Holographic

In the mood to reflect? Underground indie singer-producer Stereo Roux today unveils his latest sound creation, When You’re Gone, transporting listeners to recall a love interest they aren’t sure how they landed, yet hoped dearly not to lose. Set on a melancholic background with Roux’s harmonies bringing the storyline to life, When You’re Gone makes for easy listening with a punch—it lights a spark on the good times to bring cherished memories to the listener’s day in just 5 minutes.
The daydreamer, already with 4K monthly listeners on Spotify, used When You’re Gone to experiment with varying tempos and tones to create an atmospheric range from psychedelic to indie-pop as the tune progresses. Guitar harmonies, vocoder synths and intricate production techniques combine to form the foundation of the record – with the catchy riff being in close tow.
“Straying away from the mainstream, my goal has always been to chart a new path,” says Stereo Roux. “Experimentation is really important to me. I love discovering new techniques, and more importantly, sound creations that I want to implement and share with my listeners. When You’re Gone is the perfect storm of production and messaging meeting emotion and experimentation.”
Award-winning singer-songwriter-guitarist Sarah King makes her long-awaited full-length solo debut with When It All Goes Down, exploring life’s seismic shifts via her own singular strain of Gothic Americana. Produced, engineered, and arranged by David Baron (The Lumineers, Noah Kahan, Meghan Trainor), the album sees King weaving classic rock ‘n’ roll, Southern soul, true country, and primal folk-blues into something inspiring and cathartic, deeply personal yet wholly universal. Fired by King’s spellbinding, seen-it-all vocals and rock solid rhythm guitar, songs like “The Longest Night” and the empowering, anthemic title track are haunting, oft-times harrowing, tales of impossible guilt and inconsolable grief, of raising hell (and the repercussions that follow), of how to stand face to face with the Devil himself yet somehow emerge bigger, better, and badder than before. LISTEN HERE.
Out today, Los Angeles’ The Drives release their newest single “Overeducated” — available now via UnderCurrent. The garage rock band has been known since inception for the cinematic quality of their vulnerable delivery. The Drives never make their listeners extrapolate metaphors from their music. Instead, they bluntly air out their grievances with life, unabashedly declaring when they aren’t okay. Propelled by a danceable drum beat, “Overeducated” sees the band having fun while not knowing what to do with their lives — Stream.
“This song is about how completely lost and directionless I was in my college and post-college years,” shares frontman Andrew Levin. “I remember feeling like I was on this trajectory in school that was leading to the rest of my life, but it wasn’t what I wanted. It was a time in my life where I felt like I was going along with someone else’s plan. I basically had no idea what I wanted in my life. This song is basically about the headspace I was in during that time.”
“Panoramic View,” a brand new single and music video from AWOLNATION is out today. It finds Aaron Bruno at his most vulnerable – written on piano at the very start of the pandemic, it reflects the overwhelming fear and uncertainty the world was facing. Speaking to his own unborn children at the time, the track sends an uplifting message of embracing the scariness while harnessing the inner strength to believe that everything will ultimately be alright. The music video, also out today, was directed by Darren Doane.
Alien Ant Farm have released the final single from their upcoming album ~mAntras~ to be released April 26, 2024 through Megaforce Records. “Last dAntz” can be heard now at this link: https://orcd.co/aaflastdantz
The song follows the release of “So Cold” and “Fade”, both of which were accompanied by official music videos and can be seen on the band’s YouTube channel now.
~mAntras~ is a record that will not only challenge your preconceptions of the band, but will also firmly reassert their place in the world. The band’s sixth full-length, it was shaped by personal change and growth, and it represents as close to a new beginning as a band first formed in 1996 can get. At the same time, it’s not a record that dismisses and disregards the past. Far from it. A record of deep contemplation, ~mAntras~ was born out of various trials and tribulations—its songs don’t just take the listener on a musical journey, but, as its title suggests, also on a personal and spiritual one.
Alien Ant Farm have encountered a lot of adversity since blowing up in 2001 with two iconic songs—first their own composition, “Movies”, and then their classic, generation-defining cover of Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal”—but none more so between the release of Always And Forever and this record. It’s no surprise, then, that a lot of it has been captured on the 11 tracks that make up ~mAntras~. As guitarist Terry Corso puts it: “Growing up, divorce, children, family, death, band break-ups, surgeries, illness, health—everything is in this record. It’s literally a product of all the fucking shit, good and bad, that we went through.”

Born in Los Angeles early this century Devon Thompson comments that her earliest memory was punching through a pane of glass, to see if she could. Quite successful in this venture, profuse amounts of blood, stitches, parental trauma, and slight fear of her next move meant performance art was already championed. Growing up a pale, emaciated misfit, Devon found her home listening to music. Early Siouxsie, The Animals, The Cramps, Bill Evans and the Beatles permeated her developmental years. By the age of 19, Devon had been playing Los Angeles clubs with her bands for many seasons. Longtime radio talent and music manager Christopher “The Minister” was referred to her early in 2020. Having worked with talents in the dark wave world, Minister sent Devon to a veteran producer to get her creative ideas into recorded form. Her recordings are thus far lingering with the Bel Canto of Roy Orbison, the delicacy of Harriett Wheeler, and the sheer aggression of PJ Harvey.
Today, Devon has released her new EP, SKIN HERE; catch her west coast tour this spring in the following cities: https://www.devonthompsonmusic.com/.

Summer School is now in session! Introducing idobi Radio Summer School, the brand new touring festival that aims to put new music discovery at the forefront, providing emerging and developing bands a platform to be introduced to larger audiences across the country. The inaugural run features some of the most buzzed-about up-and-coming artists in the scene today: Stand Atlantic, Magnolia Park, The Home Team, Scene Queen, Honey Revenge, and Letdown. This group of artists – truly our next generation of headline acts – highlights the music, diversity of culture, inclusivity, and positivity of the community.
Founded by Eric Tobin (Hopeless Records), Michael Kaminsky (KMGMT), and Kevin Lyman (Warped Tour), the idea for idobi Radio Summer School came about as the three founders saw there was a development deficit for artists in their music community and scene. These acts are often left to support touring bills and festivals where there is no spotlight on their current success or a moment for them to truly shine. Alongside that, prices for tickets have soared astronomically, subsequently turning away potential new fans looking for a community and cultural home.
The three founders came together in their collective experience to provide a new summer festival brand that celebrates new artists and talent, ideas, culture, community, and inclusivity for a ticket price that anyone, young or new fans, can afford. Tobin, Kaminsky, and Lyman’s greatest hope is that the artists of idobi Radio Summer School today become the headliners of tomorrow.
Presales using code DETENTION begin tomorrow (4/2) at 10 AM local time and run through Thursday, April 4th at 10 PM local time. Tickets will go on sale to the general public this Friday, April 5th, at 9 AM PST at www.summerschooltour.com
