Long before Liz emerged as a new kind of rnb artist, the African American and Canadian songstress spent her early years with an exposure to influences that includes gospel, soul,jazz and rnb, developing a sense of identity that fuels her art to this day, creating a sound, experience, and tone unique to her.
An independent artist and native of Toronto,ON, Liz embarked on a musical journey that simultaneously builds on the legacies of African American soul and contemporary r&b-pop styles prevalent in her city, largely supported by the community around her. The singer/songwriter made her debut in 2023, with her considerably individualistic and deeply introspective single ‘Enough’, a soulful rnb pop ballad with early 2000s R&B nostalgia, which garnered support across DSPs including Spotify editorial curation (Fresh Finds, Fresh Finds R&B) and Apple Music playlists (Mood, Breaking R&B, New Music Daily, New in R&B). The release was also touted by CBC (Canada’s NPR) as one of the top 125 songs of 2022, and highlighted on CBC Radio programming ‘The Block’ for Canadian Black Music, amassing over 70K streams combined on all platforms.
Following the release, by which point she had already attracted the attention of the provincial foundations and communities, Liz secured support through national bank funded RBC Music Entrepreneurship Artist Management Program. In addition she went on to receive mentorship and support through Manifesto Toronto’s Music Business Management program, a pillar within Toronto’s music community, known for its support of urban acts. After a two year hiatus, countless hours honing her voice and finding the sound that truly resonates with her, Liz returns with support from Canadian music giant FACTOR, and the release of upcoming single ‘Temporary’, a sonic moment that projects, soul and authenticity beyond her music that is sure to catapult her to new heights.
The Draper Family Band has released their self-titled debut album via Looking Up Productions.
The Draper Family band consists of the father and son duo of Hammond B3, keyboardist Paul Draper, and his son, multi-instrumentalist and producer, and songwriter Brandon Draper.
Hammond B3 artist Paul Draper was signed to a label in Chicago his junior year of high school with the band the Impacts. The year was The band’s touring was cut short by one of the members becoming a parent. In the early 70s he was the only white member of Parliment-style funk band the Sham Pells. 1974-76 Paul lived in Worcester, Mass. where he was a regular at the brand new Long View Farms studio, later used by the Rolling Stones as a rehearsal studio.
Fast forward to 1981, Paul was called to audition for the Rolling Stones after doing studio work at Long View Farms. His son Brandon was approaching his second birthday and Paul declined the offer to stay home and raise his son. With a music studio in the home, Brandon was thumping his leg in the crib and began drum lessons at age 5, jamming daily with his dad in the home, he started sitting in with his dad’s bands at 9, touring at 14, and while in high school he was an All-State Orchestral timpanist 3 years in a row.
Paul’s band Midnight Flyer gained regional success in the early 1980s and were inducted into the Kansas Music Hall of Fame in 2020. He joined international contemporary blues artist Jimmie Bratcher as his organist in 2001 and went on to play on 5 albums, multiple tours of the US and charted in Contemporary Blues international Radio multiple times.
After relocating from New Mexico to Kansas City in 2006, Brandon started jamming with his dad again. Now some 40 years later, they embark on the most important project of their careers, together.

Singer-songwriter Rae Isla has announced today’s premiere of her new single, “Miles and Miles,” available today. Produced by Isla with guitarist/composer Pablo Valero (formerly of Mexico City’s Santa Sabina), the deeply moving track heralds the Bainbridge Island, WA artist’s upcoming new album, New Frontier, arriving Friday, July 19.
“I drove 2,868 miles across the country during the pandemic from Brooklyn to Seattle,” says Rae Isla. “When I got home, I sat down at my childhood piano and wrote this song in one meditative sitting. I could still feel the hum of the highway. The drive reminded me of many things, but most importantly how beautiful and resilient this country is. Signs along the road of hope and encouraging social distancing. The smiles and warm wishes from masked gas station attendants. The hopeful 18-year old from Tennessee starting his first ‘real job’ at Badlands National Park in South Dakota. Through my Westward journey, I witnessed people’s strength and it reminded me of my own.”
Cork-born artist LYRA releases her debut, self-titled album, unveiling a comprehensive reflection of who the artist is today. Written between Los Angeles and London, the 14 tracks express the broad range of her musicality, journeying from the dark and sultry “Chess” to the ethereal radio hit “Falling” and the pulsating dance anthem of “Lovers”, all of which elevate her powerful vocals that have given her a one-to-watch status.
“When I began writing music, I aimed for a specific style,” she explains. “But as I started developing, I wanted to write a ballad when I was heartbroken, or an irreverent song when I had a one-night stand, or an upbeat song about going on the lash with my friends and dancing until three am. To me, music should be fun and evoke different emotions, and you’re not going to do that through one sound.”
Underpinning these textures is Lyra’s commanding voice that effortlessly plays wavers between lightness and depth, and fragility and strength, which immediately enriches the emotion in her words. Her raw and powerful vocals are put to exacting use: lyrically, the album offers snapshots of past relationships – specifically one turbulent end and its liberating aftermath. “The first ballad I ever wrote was ‘Someone New’, and it took me a lot of heartbreak and learning to get there,” she says. “But the album also documents when I embraced my single life and went a bit carefree and wild. People will understand much more about me, because all the songs are about my life. Except for ‘Naked’. That’s my alter ego coming out.”

Rooted in his upbringing amidst a wide variety of musical influences, including the likes of Alan Parsons, Pink Floyd, Nirvana, and Trentemøller, Fulltone’s sonic palette has been shaped by a diverse array of sounds spanning genres and generations. A multi-instrumentalist at heart, Fulltone has mastered many tools of the trade, from more common instruments like the guitar, keyboards, and bass guitar, to rare treasures like the Greek Bouzouki, Turkish Cumbus, and Turkish Saz. Having already released eleven tracks on All Day I Dream, Fulltone has contributed many great works to the ADID catalog.
In crafting the Alba EP, Fulltone embraces the endless expanse of creativity. Reflecting on the elusive nature of inspiration, he compares it to the act of fishing, where patience and persistence are essential to reel in moments of brilliance. “Sometimes you catch a fish immediately, sometimes it takes hours or days, but you won’t catch any fish unless you go to the sea with a fishing line. In my case, the sea is my studio and the fishing line is my instruments.”
A standout track from the Alba EP is ‘Make Believe’, featuring vocals from Shyam P. The track begins with an elaborate percussive pattern, instantly kicking things off with a groove. As a lone synth note is introduced, tension rises as energy slowly builds. When a deep bass enters the mix, we hear Shyam P’s vocals for the first time, instructing the listener to “make believe”. In the latter half of the track, playful melodies juxtapose commanding low ends, creating a serene oasis covering the full spectrum of sound.
In the months following the Alba EP release, Fulltone has an exciting lineup of releases and live performances. He’ll drop a single on Klassified and a collaborative EP with Parallelle during the Summer. Yukon-based orchestral folk musician Erica Dee Mah shares her new EP Paper Wealth out now on all digital streaming platforms. Listen here.
To celebrate the launch of the EP, Erica is also releasing ‘Crocuses’ as the 2nd single following the release of the previous single ‘The Garden’, which debuted in March. ‘Crocuses’ is a serene and ethereal track written as an ode to artistry and expression.
“I wrote this song about the last summer I lived in Vancouver before moving to the Yukon,” says Erica. “I was taking guzheng lessons at Crystal Mall and would ride my bike through the city to my lesson each week. It was a time of deep musical study. The song celebrates personal creativity and freedom, and cultural connection.”
A singer-songwriter and contemporary guzheng player, Erica grew up in Smithers, BC, and then lived in Vancouver from 2000 to 2014 before moving to her current home in Whitehorse, Yukon. In 2022, she released The Sargasso Season, an original collection of songs written on the traditional 21-stringed Chinese zither. The album, which received national media recognition, is an exploration of sounds and possibilities on the versatile instrument, and seeks out a place for the guzheng in Canadian folk-roots music. Erica writes about transoceanic journeys, Chinese-Canadian identity across generations, and finding connection in new landscapes. Her new EP Paper Wealth draws on similar cultural themes, but with much deeper knowledge of the traditional instrument.
Says Erica: “Paper Wealth is a collection of songs that I wrote on the guzheng about Chinese-Canadian cultural identity across generations. July 1st, 2023, marked the centennial of the 1923 Chinese Exclusion Act, and while writing these songs, I thought about the long journey to citizenship and the even longer journey to social acceptance that Chinese-Canadians have endured over the past century.”
North London-born talent Ocean Wisdom keeps his foot on the gas with a fiery new freestyle “Near Life Experience” – via his own label Beyond Measure Records, distributed by Believe.

Australia’s most laid back band Rum Jungle kicks off their first 14 date UK/EU tour with a brand new music video for their new single, “Did The Morning Let You Down”. In the wake of last year’s “Ain’t On None,” which features 21 Savage and is Lil Harold’s most successful single to date, the ascendant Slaughter Gang rapper reintroduces himself to the masses with Sick Of Myself, a dynamic thesis statement from Harold, whose versatility and songwriting abilities have flown under the radar.
On “Gin and Juice,” Harold and BigX join forces for a buoyant club anthem, which followed the release of the J.I.D.-featured “Sundown,” a more paranoid and sinister exhibition. Graham Brown’s band playing lead guitar, headlined iconic Los Angeles venues like the Troubadour, Whisky A Go Go & Viper Room, and was dubbed as “creating an expansive, stadium-ready rock sound,” in a featured write up by popular regional radio station 91.9 WFPK.
Myra Keyes – Flower in the Brick
With a fresh batch of songs and a rapidly closing window of opportunity to get them recorded, Chicago-based artist Myra Keyes wasted no time going to work on her follow-up to 2022’s brooding Girl Reimagined EP, a project that found the then-seventeen-year-old writing on guitar, bass, and piano and finding her wings as a singer-songwriter and studio creator after spending time in the Portland, OR pop-punk band Rawt. Her life was about to reach a whole new level of busy.
“I knew, after Girl, that I wanted to do a full album next. I had material and I was antsy to record again, so I went back in with Kendra at Jackpot! and got to it pretty quick,” says Keyes, who managed to finish Flower in the Brick (2024, self-released) while simultaneously juggling AP high school courses her senior year, graduating with honors, applying to colleges, working a summer job, and eventually embarking to Loyola University in Chicago in the fall of 2023 as a business major. “It was,” she says, “a whirlwind year, to put it mildly.” With all that going on there was never a doubt that she should record again at Jackpot! Studios in Portland with engineer Kendra Lynn, who Keyes credits as co-producer and cohort, collaborator and confidante. She knew the two of them would make the deadline.
“We had so much fun making Brick, which feels bigger, sonically, than anything I’ve done,” she explains. “I couldn’t have made this record without the experience of recording Girl and working with Kendra. The new album is pretty pop-driven and positive, less shoegazey, though you still get that stuff in a few spots.” Keyes admits she writes with her synesthesia navigating the process. “Color is a big driver for me when it comes to workshopping and writing, laying out the music and ideas. It’s everything, the feel and the sense.”
Unlike the late-night introspection that made Girl a darker and stormier affair, the songs on Brick revealed an urgency and backbeat that demanded a full rhythm section. “Going in, I knew this record needed to have drums. I don’t play drums, so I was on the lookout for someone who could come into the studio and smash it. Kendra recommended Joe Mengis of the band Eels, and boy, he did just that. I also had Anna Fritz of Portland Cello Project play on the last track. Her cello part is one of the highlights of the album for me. And Joe’s drumming, my goodness.”
The result is an astonishing creative leap, an eight-song rollercoaster teeming with hooks and hairpin turns that covers miles of musical ground in only 29 minutes, with Keyes’s layered, overdriven electric guitars, expressive bass-playing and graceful piano/keyboard accents steering the songs into hitherto-uncharted territories over which her voice rises and falls like a nightingale. Opener “Powder Blue” surfaces as discreetly as a submarine, then torpedoes the casual-cool groove of the verses with the first of several unforgettable chorus guitar riffs, nearly sinking the ship altogether before slipping back into the water just as subtly as it arrived. “Now you know me now,” she chants. There’s an undeniable pop sensibility at work here and on other tracks.
“Wilt” is a song Keyes credits as being the centerpiece of the album: “I wrote that song after reading a short story called ‘The Tree’ by Maria Luisa Bombal for my senior year high school English class. ‘The Tree’ is about a lonely woman in search of love who lives in a sort of misery…her husband ignores her, and those around her find her simple. She seeks refuge in the gum tree outside her window, and the tree stands as a symbol of the woman herself and her emotional journey whilst serving as her only companion. In the end, the tree is cut down, she leaves her husband, and her entire world is anew. That’s the loose gist of the story, at least. It makes me cry when I read it. ‘Wilt’ is a yellow song. And really the whole idea of the album is distilled in that. Nature persists almost recklessly, as if to say: ‘Yeah, you built a path here, so what?’ Tree roots make bumps in the sidewalks, and grass and weeds grow in the roads. Each song is like a species of plant winding up through the concrete.” Once again, it’s the guitar riff in the chorus of “Wilt” that rears up like a wild horse and threatens to upturn the cart, but Keyes is ever in control, bringing the song back to equilibrium on the verses with a soothing melodic bass line that works as counterpoint to her impressionistic vocals: “Could I be disembodied alive? Think twice or die in rain, no way,” she sings, and later: “It’s good that they don’t know what’s in my head…”
“Stale” is a darkly meditative piece in waltz-time that snuck up on her. “I wrote it when I was sixteen, way before I wrote any of the other songs on the record. It didn’t make it onto Girl and was sort of a lost song, buried deep in my voice memos, something I wrote late one night and forgot about. I couldn’t remember how to play it for the longest time, and never imagined that it would get recorded, but I dusted it off last winter and decided to include it. Now it’s one of my favorites on the record. That surprised me, for sure.”

‘Boy Before The Man’ is the 2nd single from his new album Rescue set for release on June 13th. Christin wrote the joyful and upbeat country-tinged track to pass along hope and wisdom to his son.
“I wrote a song for my daughter on my debut album so on this album I thought I better write something for my son too,” says Christin. “I think what came out with ‘Boy Before the Man’ was a manifestation of my future self giving my past self advice on how to lead a good life. I suppose that’s all any parent would want for their son. To try to influence his journey from boy to man in a positive, fulfilling way.”
Christin grew up in rural Manitoba listening to Neil Young, Bob Dylan and Steve Earle and was greatly influenced by the imagery that these artists depict through their songwriting. He now lives in Edmonton, Alberta, where he recorded his debut album, The First Word, in 2021 and his sophomore album Rescue, which is set for release on June 13th. His new album is a storyteller of songs that reflect on the human condition exploring themes of fear, longing, faith, and desire.
