INsiders Guide: The Mysterines, The Dangerous Summer, Sydney Sherrill, Sunday Mornings…

UK alternative rock band The Mysterines have today released their heavily anticipated sophomore album Afraid of Tomorrows via Fiction Records. They also announced their North American tour leading them to Riot Fest this September. Tickets go on sale at 12 pm ET — all tour info here

Formed in Liverpool, The Mysterines – frontwoman Lia Metcalfe, drummer Paul Crilly, bassist George Favager and guitarist Callum Thompson – have undergone a radical transformation over the past few years. Fresh with new purpose and reinvigorated from songwriting sessions while secluded away in the countryside (in between playing to 60,000-strong crowds while on tour with the Arctic Monkeys), the band is now releasing the best music of their career.

Recorded and produced by Grammy Award winning producer John Congleton (St. Vincent, Angel Olsen) in LA, Afraid of Tomorrows is a deeper and darker foray into The Mysterines’ psyche than its predecessor, and reflects the maturity and growth of the band. “‘Afraid of Tomorrows’ is a mirror where you find you’re nothing more than a formless being, one made from celestial constellations – of traumas, of the old and new, mistakes, addiction, fear and happiness, loneliness, but ultimately a desire for life and the fight to keep living. It’s a collage of what’s been lost and of love unbounded”, says Lia.

The Dangerous Summer have released their new album Gravity via Rude Records. Featuring previously released singles “Pacific Ocean,” “What’s An Hour Really Worth”, and title track “Gravity” alongside nine brand new era-defining tracks, Gravity is sure to please longtime fans of the band and new listeners alike.

Gravity is available to stream now at https://music.ruderecords.com/gravity with physical copies and other merch available to order at https://www.ruderecords.com/pages/gravity

“Gravity is our 7th fun length record, and it is kind of surreal when you get to this stage of your career, there is a moment of reflection,” says vocalist AJ Perdomo. “I say to myself, “I am still here, doing what I love, creating with my entire being day and night”. It has now been 17 years since I first signed to Hopeless Records while in my senior year of high school. I have seen the world. I have also felt the heavy weight of loss, and sometimes have put my unwavering hope into this unforgiving abstract art form.”

Alongside the album, The Dangerous Summer have unveiled a new music video for the track “Where Did All The Time Go?”. With heartfelt lyrics and a raw, emotive melody, the song captures the universal desire to hit pause and savor the fleeting moments. A captivating video montage showcases the band’s journey and live performances throughout the years, pairing perfectly with the heartfelt track that encourages listeners to cherish the present while grappling with the inevitable passage of time.

Singer-songwriter Sydney Sherrill has released her new single “Not Now But Someday.” An ode to acknowledging missed chances, “Not Now But Someday” speaks to leaving it up to fate on whether two people will find each other in the end as Sydney’s vocals soar over driving guitar riffs.

On the release, Sydney shares, “‘Not Now But Someday’ is really a right person, wrong time song. I don’t know if I always believe in that, but I think we have all had that moment of thinking ‘maybe this will work out someday’ and for some people it does! And other times we realize we should probably just move on. Nevertheless, it’s fun to hope for the best and we all need that sometimes.”

The wait is over for Forget Me Nots, the brand new EP from hardcore group Sunday Morning. Featuring recent singles “Weight” and “Broken Glass”, Forget Me Nots serves as the band’s debut release with Open Your Ears Records. Fans can stream the EP in full for the first time now at https://ffm.to/forgetmenots.

Forget Me Nots is an emotionally-charged, six song powerhouse,” the band shares. “Bridging the gap between hardcore and alternative influences, it shows range and technicality from start to finish.”

Sunday Morning will be hitting the road next month for an east coast run of tour dates, including shows with Millington and Goalkeeper. For a full list of shows please see below or visit https://linktr.ee/sundaymorningct.

Kristin Carter – “Euphoria” Music Video:

The music video was directed by award-winning Canadian filmmaker Eva Tavares.

“Euphoria” is the highest-streaming single from Kristin’s debut album, “Full Bloom”, which arrived in April.

The song was written about the excitement of a new romantic connection, but the video builds on the song’s spirit of confidence to examine the inner conflict between one’s authentic self and the ideal self they aspire to become. Kristin inhabits the authentic self and the ideal self in the video.

To go along with over 3 million streams and views across digital streaming platforms and YouTube from her release catalogue, Kristin’s recent path to “Full Bloom” has included multiple placements on CBC Radio One in Canada, consistent Amazon Music Canada editorial playlist support.

Highlighting his boundary-pushing production approach, Alesso’s stunning rework celebrates cross-genre innovation at its finest, adding a fresh layer that promises to appeal to a diverse global audience.

The release arrives at a time where Alesso’s influence across the music industry is more pronounced than ever, demonstrated by a history of groundbreaking collaborations that highlight his unique ability to adapt and thrive in diverse musical landscapes. Recently, his 2017 hit “Let Me Go” with country star Florida Georgia Line and pop sensation Hailee Steinfeld celebrated the milestone achievement of reaching over one billion streams on Spotify, understoring his successful foray into the country genre.

The song is “a conversation between me and my ancestors – particularly with Isaac Strayhorn, my great grandfather; an outspoken Black man, who was lynched in rural Eastern North Carolina in the 1940s,” says singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Regina Strayhorn“He was known as the town poet. I like to think that Isaac occasionally whispers lines he didn’t get to write in his own time into my ear.”“You Are Not A Ghost” drops on June 25th , just before the band performs at Brooklyn Made, opening for John Gallagher Jr.’s album release show, on June 27th.
The NYC-based trio of Strayhorn, singer/songwriter/cellist Sydney Torin Shepherd, and singer/songwriter/guitarist Adrian Blake Enscoe are currently working on a plethora of projects. Enscoe co-stars with Gallagher in Swept Away, the musical based on The Avett Brothers‘ album MignonetteJust last month, Enscoe, Gallagher, and the rest of the cast performed on stage with the Avett Brothers at Forest Hills Stadium, announcing that Swept Away will be debuting on Broadway this fall.

The album follows on from Susan’s 2021 collaboration album with Mick Flannery ‘In The Game’ which was nominated for the Choice Music Prize and the RTE 1 ‘Best Folk Album of the year’. It was the biggest independent selling Irish album that year. As well as collaborating on many songs with all of the musicians on this new album, ‘Now in a Minute’  also see’s Susan reunite with Mick Flannery on a selection of co-writes for this record.

On the album, Susan said: “I’ve been tipping away at this thing behind the scenes.  Now, it is an album and it’s finished. I’m very much looking forward to sharing it with you. I had a great pleasure sharing the process with these wonderful humans who helped me manifest these recordings. Thank you to everyone who listens, comments, and supports. It means more than you know”

Sign of the Times’ has a mellow indie pulse that calls you back to a nineties hum, with powerful poetic lyrics soaring along the top, taking us out of time and into the everyday confrontation of how the world spins around us.   This feeling is exemplified in the accompanying music video shot by Susan while visiting New York City.  The video, edited by Christopher Luke, glimpses the bright lights and at times over-powering messaging constantly in sight throughout the city that never sleeps.

On the song, Susan said:

“It sometimes feels that the world of media and marketing is too abrasive, it can be loud, confronting, false and unforgiving. It doesn’t ring true to me, yet somehow, it works on me. I’m the fool that digests the need for material things. I’m the person feeling inadequate against the distorted image of perfection that is portrayed to us as everyday reality. So clever are the slogans, colours & images combined to entice us into spending money we often don’t have on things we don’t need.

This song, ‘Sign of the times’ is about that. I suppose I sing about ‘all the people’ because we are all targeted. It is in reality about my own awareness of how far I will or will not let this marketing beast play a role in my life.”

Rock band FELICITY is thrilled to share their new single “Nights In Your Bed”. Out now via Zodhiac Records, this song is what you would get if The Notebook, Twilight, Fall Out Boy, and Dave Grohl all collaborated to write a new song. Stream it now, here: https://listentofelicity.com/nightsinyourbed

“Nights In Your Bed” is about confronting the inevitable truth that some connections in life, whether it’s a friendship or romance, are better left as memories. We wanted to address the turmoil of realization and bitter endings, the cyclical nature of heartbreak, and the transient nature of fleeting passions. No one ever wants to feel like their time is being wasted, and we believe this narrative captures the urgency of acknowledging these uncomfortable realities and the struggle to escape the inevitable.

“‘Nights in Your Bed’ is an extremely personal song for us and the writing process was a very therapeutic experience,” the band shares. Several of us suffered our own heartbreak this past year. As we crafted the song, we delved into the depths of our own tumultuous breakups, transforming pain into poetry and heartache into harmony. Although all good things must come to an end, we are so thankful to have this song forever.”

Renowned 22-year-old musician and songwriter Jamie Duffy is set to captivate audiences once again with his latest track, a mesmerizing piece that feels like falling into a dream. Drawing inspiration from the cyclical swimming patterns of basking sharks, Jamie transforms this imagery into a profound metaphor for life and relationships.

Jamie explains, “In this piece, I was inspired by basking sharks swimming in circles. This behavior mirrors my own experiences and relationships, often feeling cyclical. The torus-shaped circles these majestic creatures form while mating symbolize the beautiful and wild aspects of life.

A soul-baring ode to being present in the moment, the brand new single “California Sober” out today from Sydney alternative trio Yours Truly is an empowered and engaging step closer to the group’s upcoming sophomore album, with TOXIC set for release on August 16 via UNFD.

Raw yet polished and loaded with forward-thinking pop punk hooks, “California Sober” finds Yours Truly’s Mikaila Delgado taking another star turn with power-laced confessional lyricism amplified alongside sharp drumwork and emphatic guitars.

“‘California Sober’ was written during the same period as ‘Sour’,” the band shares. “We’d started working on Sour – we were getting nowhere with it. We had a bit of a breakdown; we were crying and talking about things.”

We were mucking around, playing guitar, and Mikaila started singing about when you come over and your friends are stoned; just sitting there, not wanting to do much. It’s all good and fun, but you can’t enjoy other people’s company and think “I’m not good enough to hang out with”.

California Sober is the essence of trying to be present with your friends and loved ones. You don’t have to just put on this facade, this mask, and hide yourself away.”

We put everything into this record, and I am so grateful it’s finally coming out,” shares Julian Comeau. “Loveless has always been a deeply personal project, but we got to work with some amazing collaborators this time to really bring out our best both instrumentally and lyrically. We assembled the dream team and it’s been an absolute joy to hear Loveless in a way that’s never been heard before, and I can’t wait to share it with everyone.”

About the new single, he adds: “‘Heart-Shaped Soul’ was the first track we did with our friends Zach Jones, KJ Strock, and KANNER. It came together so naturally, we knew there was lightning in a bottle immediately. We are so immensely proud of this one, it’s got all of my favorite aspects of a Loveless song tied in a neat little bow. I’ve never really sang like this on an original song, and I still get excited every time I hear it and think about the magic we felt in the studio.
