INsiders Guide: PYREX, JABARI BANKS, Maya Kuriel, ASHRR, REGENT….

Baltimore-bred Hip Hop pillar Pyrex releases his new single “Screamin.” The GRAMMY-nominated artist, producer and budding star continues to build excitement for his forthcoming album Sincerely, Rex, due for release later this year.

Get “Screamin” at all DSPs HERE.

Pyrex’s longtime penchant for melancholy soundscapes comes into full focus on “Screamin.” On the track, the longtime member of Southside’s 808 Mafia collective showcases a celestial croon as he conjures jarring imagery of a romance that’s transitioned into a dark place: “Painting with my blood, telling me it’s art.” With his trap influence still in tow, Pyrex continues to tap into a broader scope of his artistry with his early Sincerely, Rex offerings.

Stay tuned for the official music video, which brings the vision fully to life, coming soon.

Earlier this summer, Pyrex shared the Sincerely, Rex single “Wat I’m On,” which has already accumulated close to 400,000 views on TikTok. With “Screamin,” the artist digs deeper into his artistry on the journey to Sincerely, Rex, set for release later this year. Over the course of the album, Rex oscillates between otherworldly trap and cosmic rock for his most potent recipe yet, a masterpiece of instinct, curation and multi-genre virtuosity. Rendered with a director’s instincts for sequencing, sounds become vapors that phase through the crevices of caustic basslines and frenzied emotions. It’s as experimental as it is disciplined, with Rex balancing his singular vision with fresh spurts of personal innovation; multiple tracks are devoid of percussion, which in turn leads to an entirely new sonic approach for the acclaimed creator. It’s Rex in all of his multitudes, and without features, there’s no room to escape his energy.

Get ready for more from Pyrex, coming soon.

Jabari, singer-songwriter and recent signee to Epic Records, delivers his sophomore single and music video. “Weekend Drive.”  The soaring love ballad replete with a choir-laden outro, is now available for your streaming pleasure.

Rising pop sensation, Maya Kuriel, has just released her highly anticipated single, “Liquid Courage.” This track explores the relatable need for a boost of confidence to tackle social situations head-on. With dark pop instrumentation in the verses, Maya captures the essence of social anxiety and tension. The song then transitions into an explosive chorus, embodying the euphoria of feeling truly confident in your own skin. Maya says “after listening to this song I hope you’ll be thinking to yourself “that night was one for the books”; because, let’s be real, nothing exciting happens when you’re glued to the wall.” Listeners are guaranteed to be inspired to create unforgettable memories.

indie electronic trio, ASHRR, delivers four brand new remixes of their most recent single, “Sway.” The EP includes three stellar remixes from Los Angeles legend, Lovefingers, as well as a version from ASHRR’s own alterego, ASHRR SOUNDSYSTEM.. The EP continues ASHRR’s rollout of their upcoming album, Sunshine Low, arriving this Fall on 20/20 Vision Recordings.

Side A of the EP sees Lovefingers’ first iteration of the track, with “Sway (Rimini Remix).” This eclectic take on the original track brings the listener into disco paradise, fully immersed in the world of old-school electronic nostalgia. Closing out side A is “Sway (ASHRR Soundsystem Remix),” a vibrant, percussive party-starter.

“The rework of Sway started with the electro synth bass line which was the whole foundation. We got really spaced out sonically and wanted to get lost in the psychedelic dance groove,” ASHRR remarked on their remix.

Side B’s Lovefingers “Lechuza Dub” and “Skeleton Dub” build off an engaging, funky synth bass line, poised to immediately grab the listener with its saturated goodness. A four-on-the-floor groove on both remixes allows for maximum club potential.

“ASHRR make tunes right up my strasse and were a pleasure to remix,” says Lovefingers. “When the lyrics are great, I just repeat them in my head for days until a whole new arrangement crystalizes. With ‘Sway’ the possibilities were endless, so I turned in 3 versions”, he added.

Riding the crest of a wave, “Stuck Like Glue” finds the band in rude creative health.

From its piercing riffs to Ben Rooke’s gutsy, gravelled vocals, it’s a track that oozes out of the monitors in a surge of feedback and is guaranteed to cement itself in your head all day long.

Brimming with the confidence of a band on a roll and saddled with the bags of attitude fans have come to expect from Regent, “Stuck Like Glue” comments on that adhesive-like quality of an addiction and the powerful grip they can hold on your personality. As Rooke explains:

““Stuck Like Glue” is about my inner demons and how we are inseparable… You go through life keeping them at bay and instead of fighting it sometimes you embrace it… That’s what this song is about…”

Having released their highly esteemed second record ‘Beggars Belief’ just a few months ago, the South coast outfit will be performing the record in its entirety, plus classics from their growing back catalogue, and potentially a few new surprises too… Tickets are on sale now here.

rising indie-pop artist and producer Tragic Sasha shares her latest single ‘Plastic Chandeliers’ – an experimental pop song that dives into the multifaceted life of an artist. This new release encapsulates Sasha’s unique perspective, offering listeners an unfiltered look into the realities of life as a creative.

‘Plastic Chandeliers’  is available now on your streaming service of choice via APOLLO Distribution.

Brooklyn-based rock outfit Earthquake Lights barely fits within its self-described alt-rock genre. Orchestral strings litter the dense arrangements, elevating the songs to something more refined and nearly classical feeling. But there’s a distinctive jazz influence to the grooves and harmonic richness that the band is hesitant to compare to jazz, though the comparison is something they contend with regularly. Still, the rock influences are clear, and Earthquake Lights sounds something like Pink Floyd, Radiohead, and Beck.

Their new album, Signs of Life, is a reflection of experimentation and exploration under pressure. Centering on themes of self-reflection, the record evaluates self-fulfilling prophecies and coming to terms with past mistakes, and assesses where you’ve been and where you’re headed. Rodenhouse explains, “Where you end up can reflect your own choices, and this record is focused on that level of self-assessment.”

The nine-track Signs of Life is an introspective record. Harmonically dense overall, some tracks are deeply experimental, while others such as “Pictures” are designed to be more accessible and immediate. “Pictures” tells the story of someone who romanticizes a past relationship or friendship through pictures, abstractly commenting on the ever-present role social media plays in our lives. The album also includes “Silhouette” which narrates an extraterrestrial search for life, penning the question, “What’s the connection between music and space?” Another track of note is the beautiful “Heartbeat,” a reminder to cherish our loved ones in the face of looming troubles.

Signs of Life celebrates craftsmanship and working with analog/ acoustic instruments and players to create sounds that are truly unique in today’s content-obsessed industry. Rodenhouse shares, “We’re trying to make a timeless record that leans into traditions of music and playership, not the future of music. Samples and AI and drum loops are all amazing, but we’re trying to make records that celebrate humans. It took over 100 people to make this record, and I believe you can hear that in the sounds of this record.”

Sarina is a rising punk-pop sensation from Tokyo, Japan, blending the raw energy of early 2010s pop-punk with her own unique style. A bilingual artist born in Hawaii to a Lebanese mother and Japanese father, Sarina’s international upbringing in Tokyo has deeply influenced her music, resonating with fans of Avril Lavigne, Olivia Rodrigo, and Paramore.

From a young age, Sarina was absorbed in a world of music and creativity, beginning with classical piano lessons at just two years old. Her journey soon expanded to include guitar and ukulele, instruments she continues to cherish for their versatility. With a profound respect for both the dark and light aspects of life, influenced by her artistically gifted parents, Sarina’s music explores themes of mental health and personal struggle, creating a sound that is both deeply relatable and emotionally powerful.

Sarina’s debut single, “Identity,” released under the Sony RED label, showcased her multi-instrumental talents, as she played drums, guitar, bass, and piano on the track. With Sony Red, she released five more singles, an EP titled Foreword, and six music videos, which she story-boarded and headed with her original concepts and detail-oriented symbolism, before she co-founded and launched the SyrenSong label in May of 2024. Filled with thought-provoking lyrics and catchy melodies, her songs have earned her coveted playlist spots on Ones to Watch’s “Now Watching” and Apple Music’s “New in Rock.”

In addition to her solo work, Sarina lent her voice to the main vocal trio for the video game company Square Enix’s JRPG Triangle Strategy, collaborating with renowned composer Senju Akira. Now, with new singles on the horizon, produced in collaboration with Grammy-winning producer Erik Ron (I Prevail, Staind, Bush) and platinum record producer and Escape the Fate guitarist Kevin Thrasher (Panic! Written in Paris, Somebody To Lose is the result of falling for someone who’s already in a relationship. Playful and clever lyricism met with potent and catchy hooks, pin this as an anthemic first release. Sharing more, Altara explained: ‘When I find myself falling for someone, I get very in my own head & can make everything too heavy. I wanted to write something that made light of that, I wanted to show myself that catching feelings doesn’t have to be deep & over the top, it can be fun, easy & even embarrassing in the best way .

This song really helped me reinforce that.’

With ‘Somebody to Lose’ being the first single to be revealed from his upcoming debut EP ‘The Lobby’, Altara is somebody to keep an eye on.

With a genre-bending sound that’s proudly hard to box he’s married the catchyness of alt-pop and the intensity of electronica. Creating a sound that’s entirely his own and destined to be kept on repeat.

This will be the band’s first album without one of the founding members Mickey Brandolino. Next up, Valley will be playing Budweiser Stage in direct support of Beaches and then kick off a headline North American tour this fall.

Directed in collaboration with Malcolm MacMaster, “Year of the Cup” is an eye-grabbing capsule of the angst, nostalgia, and raw artistry that defines Porter’s SMILE! 😀  era.  multifaceted alt pop artist MOTHICA has released her highly anticipated third album KISSING DEATH via her own imprint Heavy Heart Records in partnership with Rise Records/BMG.  With KISSING DEATH, the prolific artist dives deeper into her powerful story with an ambitious audio/visual experience. The raw and cathartic collection of songs touch upon MOTHICA’s deeply personal and relatable battles with depression, addiction, and suicidal ideation. It is an immersive story across 12 tracks, with cinematic accompanying music videos.

MOTHICA is known for her confessional songwriting and genre-defying musical releases that blend dark pop with rock, synthwave, goth and electronica for a mesmerizing sonic fusion. The artist has built a fervent fanbase and has amassed hundreds of millions of streams, while further earning acclaim from the likes of Billboard, MTV, Teen Vogue, Buzzfeed, Alt Press, and more.

KISSING DEATH is a testament to MOTHICA’s artistic evolution. The album’s release is accompanied by an official music video for the song Another High” which will be the focus track around the release. “Another High” is a poignant and relatable narrative about the cycles of addiction. She shares, “When I stop one habit, I find new vices to indulge in to keep my mind busy. Some are definitely healthier than others. And I always joke that I wish I was addicted to exercising and sunshine instead of the things that are bad for me.”

Nashville-based alt-pop singer and songwriter Caroline Romano shares her new single, “Body Bag,” out on all streaming platforms today.Produced by and co-written with Danen Reed Rector (Charlotte Sands, Boys Like Girls, Betty Who), “Body Bag” is a song about growing up and coming to terms with the harsh realities of life.

On “Body Bag,” Caroline’s dreamy indie-pop vocals float over a sea of fuzzy guitars, rousing percussion, and sparkling synths. In a similar vein to recent singles like “Doesn’t Matter” and “Used By You,” “Body Bag” is another stunning showcase of Caroline’s ability to transform her raw emotions into anthemic bliss.

“I always had this picture in my mind of who I would be at this age and what my life would look like, and I always thought it would be shiny, fun, sexy, and exhilarating,” says Caroline. “I’ve spent the last few years chasing those feelings, but ‘Body Bag’ is a peak behind the curtain at the reality of modern romance and feeling young and old at the same time. I think sonically the song has so many ups and downs, and that’s exactly how this stage of my life has felt. It’s running barefoot on the concrete, chasing something you can’t quite put your finger on, but running towards it nonetheless. That’s how I would best describe ‘Body Bag.’”

British star-in-the-making Sophie and the Giants joins forces with R3HAB on “All Night,” in what could well be your song of the summer. The incredibly catchy banger-in-the-making of a song pays homage to Blue’s noughties classic “All Rise” where they have reimagined it for 2024. The track is now available everywhere online via Polydor

Speaking about the collaboration, songwriter Sophie Scott (Sophie and the Giants) said “I’m super excited to announce my new collab with R3HAB!  Ever since his remix of my single “Paradise,” this collab felt totally right. We’ve created a massive anthem that combines our musical styles. “Take a vacation” captures everything in this song. It will make you forget about everyday life and take you to that perfect night you never want to end!

R3HAB added “I’ve been a fan of Sophie’s work since “Hypnotized” came out, and after remixing her record “Paradise” we joined forces in our new collaboration “All Night”. Her 90s pop vocals were a perfect fit for my vision of this dance anthem, bridging an upbeat groove with an iconic melody. “All Night” is all about letting yourself go, chasing thrills and celebrating life all day and night. We’re excited to finally share it with the world.”

Toronto based rapper Haviah Mighty explodes back on to the scene with her latest offering ‘Double The Fun’.

Directed by visionary film maker and creative director This Was Needed the video takes the track to the next level of storytelling.

Speaking on the track Haviah Mighty tells us: “’Double The Fun’” is about maximizing potential and quite literally doubling up on the things we love. It’s the theme song for the underdogs. The ones who have to work twice as hard for half the results. Those who find beauty in the journey of challenges, those who never let the naysayers win, those who never let doubts prevail.”

rising Irish indie-pop artist Tadhg Daly shares new single ‘Your Name’, which is the next track to drop from his eagerly anticipated EP that promises to showcase his signature blend of raw passion and infectious alternative instrumentation. Described by Tadhg as a ‘soundtrack to being hopelessly in love’, ‘Your Name’ is a heartfelt love song that captures Tadhg’s deepest emotions.

Beth McKenzie continues her rise to pop stardom with new single ‘She’s Finally Lost It!’. Pairing stingingly honest lyricism with defiantly upbeat production, it’s a dazzling immersion into the Manchester-based songwriter’s rule-bending vision.

A step away from the indie pop sombreness of ‘Don’t Tell My Boyfriend’, the latest cut taps into yet another side to Beth’s artistry. Floating above an undercurrent of propulsive beats and reverb-laden vocoder effects, the multi-instrumentalist’s unique vocal delivery shines through. Unapologetically expressive – and equally taunting – Beth’s leading vocals detail a harrowing story of power abuse within the music industry. “I went from being promised the earth to being manipulated and controlled by someone.” she explains.

Capturing the emotional turmoil surrounding questioning her own sanity, it’s a lyrically cutting offering that flickers between moments of helplessness, isolation, and touches of empowerment. Woven together by Beth’s confessional storytelling, it solidifies her ability to narrate challenging topics with effortless precision.

Expanding on the track’s making, Beth says “The lyrics came easily but, at first, musically the song was very dark and sombre, and it just didn’t work. My producer and I decided on a radical change and created an upbeat, edgy sound that captures the sheer insanity of the whole situation.”

‘She’s Finally Lost It!’ arrives following comeback single ‘Don’t Tell My Boyfriend’, which gained traction on TikTok earlier in the year, resulting in a deal with Las Vegas-based label Handwritten Records (KiNG MALA, Jean Dawson, Rachel Bochner). With songwriting acting as an outlet for Beth since her teenage years, the newly signed artist is now entering a new chapter in her journey.

Their music is inspired by the likes of Post Malone, Taylor Swift, and Beyoncé, who have successfully blended genres to create something truly special. Sean Ryder Wolf says: “A lot of time has been spent in writing and producing all of them and we’re very proud of the material that we have and can’t wait to get all the tracks out there!”

The music guides you through an emotional voyage across the terrains of love and relationships, the exhilaration of pursuing dreams, and spontaneous late-night escapades. Imagine a ‘harmonious fusion’ that effortlessly merges pop’s catchy appeal with the genuine essence of raw country music: nostalgic yet still boldly pushing boundaries. That’s Another State.

“The Only One” is the follow up to their debut single “All You Need“ and is a track that speaks to the heart and soul of what it means to find ‘The One’. It’s about that magical moment when you realise you’ve found someone who truly understands and completes you. The sentiment shines through the lyrics and the melody and has universal appeal to those of us who are in love. Sean Ryder Wolf explains his heartfelt inspiration in co-writing the track: “I’m in a relationship and also have children, and that feeling of feeling complete and having love and deep admiration for my partner was at the crux of why ‘ The Only One’ started taking shape.”

“The Only One” will be made available on all major streaming platforms. Fans can also look forward to an accompanying music video, set to be released later this month, which promises to bring the song’s beautifully romantic narrative to life.

“This song was inspired by a weekend trip I did up a steep mountain road to a place called Jones Lake with a lady in her van,” says Myles. “All I wore was a hat and all she wore was a mushroom necklace and we had a blast. This song is about the endless opportunities of the open road. We experiment with alternative time signatures throughout and focus on making the grooves feel unusual but still natural.”
