A line of biopics about iconic hip hop artists are set to be made and produced by Will Smith, with the first biopic to be about Queen Latifah. Flavor Unit Entertainment, Westbrook Studios, and Jesse Collins Entertainment will collaborate to produce a series of hip hop biopics. Queen Latifah will also produce the biopic about herself alongside Shakim Compere for Flavor Unit Entertainment. Jesse Collins Entertainment is the studio behind some biopics including The New Edition Story and The Bobby Brown Story.

Hip Hop’s impact has expanded beyond just music and has created a lasting impression on culture and society overall. It is a dream to be able to collaborate with friends and colleagues that have not only a shared understanding, but are able to tell these stories that were the backdrop of our lives,” Queen Latifah and Compere of Flavor Unit Entertainment said in a statement.
