Richard Eyre the filmmaker behind The Iris and Notes on a Scandal has tapped Uma Thurman and Anthony Hopkins to star in the romantic drama movie The Housekeeper, with actress Phoebe Dynevor joining them.
“Rose Tremain’s story grapples with love, fear, fiction, desire, ambition, death, and legacy — perhaps epic, whilst providing us with the delicacy of most complex, nuanced characters and unexpected shifts in audience sympathy. The cast and I hold in our palm a story as rich and turbulent as the landscape that it inhabits, with Manderville Hall holding secrets and emotional intrigue within its historic walls,” Eyre told Variety.
The story follows Thurman’s character Danni, a housekeeper at a historic house called Manderville Hall, which is owned by Hopkins’ Lord DeWithers. Danni will soon find herself in a forbidden love affair with a beautiful novelist Daphne Du Maurier (set to be played by Dynevor).
