‘The Fly’, New Movie In The Works Based On David Cronenberg’s Film

Deadline reports that 20th Century Studios and Chernin Entertainment are working on another film that will be set in the same universe as Cronenberg’s The Fly. The new movie is being written and directed by Nikyatu Jusu. Deadline also reports Deadline, it will not be a straightforward remake of Cronenberg’s movie and instead will just be “set in the universe.”

“In a remake of the 1958 cult classic, a young scientist transforms himself into a fly in an experiment gone horribly wrong,” the synopsis for Cronenberg’s movie reads. “Seth Brundle, a brilliant but eccentric scientist attempts to woo investigative journalist Veronica Quaife by offering her a scoop on his latest research in the field of matter transportation, which against all the expectations of the scientific establishment have proced succesful. Up to a point, Brundle thinks he has ironed out the last problem when he successfully transports a living creature, but when he attempts to teleport himself a fly enters on the transmission booths, and Brundle finds he is a changed man.”
