INsiders Guide: Charlotte Morris, BLOOM, Loie, ssolana, Sareena Rama, KNUCKLE PUCK…

Growing up outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Charlotte Morris discovered her passion for music at a young age. After starting violin lessons at the age of 4, Charlotte taught herself how to play the guitar, piano (and melodica), ukulele, banjo, acoustic bass guitar, and mandolin, and began taking her songwriting seriously by the age of 12. Describing her unique style as genuine, raw, and emotional music with a purpose, Charlotte takes inspiration from female-driven artists like Delta Rae, Brandi Carlile, Sara Bareilles, Liz Longley, Maren Morris, and The Chicks.

In January 2018, Charlotte joined Lonesome Traveler – a concert tour that performed the history of folk music, starting with Woody Guthrie and ending with songs by the likes of Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell. Charlotte released her debut EP To New York, with Love in June 2018 and has since released a number of singles and another five-song EP (produced by Nashville-based Mitch Dane) entitled Sputnik. In 2019, Charlotte embarked on her first fully-acoustic tour, performing in over fifteen different cities across the US. She released her first full-length album, Songs For My Next Ex, in December 2020.

After moving to Nashville in 2021, Charlotte released “Good Kind of Hurt”, a deeply personal song about addiction and PTSD, in June 2022, with the hope of spurring more conversation around the difficulties and misunderstandings of mental illness. She followed up that success with her nostalgia-filled, folk-driven, single “Tennessee”, and then, “Your Number One”, a driving song of empowerment. All of these singles led up to the release of Wild Child, Charlotte’s 2nd studio album, which took the industry by storm in September 2023. The album, personal, vulnerable, and authentic, has impacted listeners worldwide; from live television and radio performances to extensive radio play in the Netherlands, Canada, and more, the album serves as an example of just how powerful music can be.

In the Spring of 2024, Charlotte hit the road for a 30-city international tour, wowing audiences with her captivating stage presence and conversational show dynamic. While on the road, Charlotte came to the realization that it was time to return to her roots and head back to Philadelphia. Back on the East Coast, with another album on the way and her eyes already on the next tour, it’s clear things are just getting started for this rising artist.

When the singer-songwriter is not writing or releasing music, she travels across the country in her converted van with her pup and is an avid crossword puzzler.

Listen to ‘The Works Of You’ HERE or by clicking the image below.

Speaking about the new single the band said, “The Works of You is a unique kind of love song. About the love that lingers with you long after a person has left your life, and how it can come to shape you. Bloom likens love to art, how it can come in many shapes and forms, it’s distinct staying power, and how hearts can become galleries themselves. The instruments reflect this through their various stages, from sharp, aggressive undertones to sweeping symphonic highs, the works of you hopes to itself become a cherished memory in the soul of the audience. Recorded whilst on tour earlier this year, Bloom have used every opportunity they had to create and craft this song. A trip down a rabbit hole is often a dark and confusing descent into madness. Going down one means leaning into your own insanity. Getting stuck in one is letting it take over. But for those equipped with the will to pull themselves out, the reward at the end can be profound: a moment of clarity that gives way to personal transformation. Two years after breaking TikTok with her slinky hit “Late To The Party,” rapidly rising alt-pop confessionalist Emei has fallen down her own rabbit hole and undergone a metamorphosis.

Following the release of her previous widely embraced projects, End of an Era, and Scatterbrain, a challenging period of writer’s block and creative renewal has brought the Los Angeles-based songwriter to return with her most ambitious, and intimate, offering yet.

RABBITHOLE, her glossy, high-octane third EP, is a journey within a journey, thematically traipsing through the darkest depths of her psyche, touching on anxiety, insecurity, and madness with hyper-relatable lyricism, wit, and perspective. But its creation was also transformative as it ushered in a blossoming artistic era for the singer. Loosely inspired by the classic bildungsroman Alice In Wonderland, it’s her first-ever concept project. “I spent the past year or two really developing and figuring out my sound, the visuals,” she says. “On the career side of things, [RABBITHOLE] feels very much like a project that I had to go through. It’s Emei 2.0. It reflects this period of growing up and becoming the person that I’m supposed to be.”

Structured like an anxiety spiral, the six-track project opens on the vibrant punch of “RABBITHOLE,” her metaphorical fall into the titular pit that’s part anxiety diary and breathwork meditation. By the time the EP’s energetic closing track comes around, Emei has completed a redemptive 360. “All of [the songs] are like going through this journey of going down into panic and anxiety and then coming out of it,” she says.

They’re familiar and acute themes for the 24-year-old songwriter, whose previous releases like “Irresponsible” and “Better People To Leave On Read,” painted her an especially illuminated diagnoser of the Gen Z condition. “I’ve always been a pretty anxious girl,” she says.

RiTcH, an exciting new artist on the music scene sets out to captivate audiences with his fourth single, “Emotional” OUT NOW.

With his incredible talent, RiTcH loves to build immersive worlds around his releases, and “Emotional” is no exception. Drawing inspiration from the visionary Tyler, the Creator, RiTcH has created a sensational music experience that combines familiar Gen Z technology and raw emotion.

“Emotional” takes listeners through the madness of a romantic pursuit that could go either way but despite the rollercoaster of feelings here… RiTcH clearly enjoys the ride. The songwriter shares, “Emotional is essentially about enjoying the back and forth. I wouldn’t have ever called it a relationship, but I was chatting to this girl who loved messing with my head and I didn’t mind it being messed with at the time, that’s what kept it fresh and exciting.”

‘’You’re probably texting other guys, other girls are on my mind, but it’s keeping this alive’’ he sings over the raw bass and hip hop beat.

Accompanying the release, is a music video which, in RiTcH’s usual fashion, digs deep into the concept of the song and features augmented Reality (AR) face filters, hiding RiTcH’s true emotions. With a clown face filter taking center stage representing RiTcH’s foolishness in entertaining this relationship. It is obvious when listening to “Emotional” that this is not a healthy situation with RiTcH spitting lyrics like: ‘’Let’s just be a victim to the games, Play em how we wanna play’’. RiTcH recalls, “With the video, we had the idea to represent the emotions with AR face filters and filming it was intense. I had a big camera attached to a pole coming out of my chest, with a light shining in my face and obviously people who saw me couldn’t see the filters. I was mad worried I just looked like some crazy narcissistic influencer. Definitely had to keep it tunnel visioned doing this one in public.”

At the end of August, Kenzie and Laila shed their classical training to tap into the escapism that the new project of Girl Tones provides for them. Produced by Brad Shultz and recorded at the infamous Nashville studio Battle Tapes, the first single was released via Parallel Vision

Cult heroes – HENGE – are back with a high-octane new single ‘Ascending’. The track marks the dawning of a new era for the interplanetary prog-rave joymongers, with the release of their fourth album ‘Journey to Voltus B’ scheduled for 2025.

Ascending’ showcases HENGE’s sound that is difficult to define but occupies a space somewhere between rave and prog-rock that nobody knew existed – with robotic vocals, thundering drums, hyperdrive bass, rude guitar and soaring synths combining to provide a euphoric soundtrack to a space launch. The single is accompanied by a spectacularly cute 3D animated music video by filmmaker and visual artist Antony Barkworth-Knight – watch it now here.

Of the new single, HENGE frontman and crew captain, Zpor, says:

“With this new single Ascending we are setting the scene for our latest adventure into space. As we blast off from Earth, it becomes clear that YOU, the listener, are among our crew for this high-stakes voyage, where the fate of an entire planet is literally in your hands.”

Detroit, Michigan-based indie singer-songwriter Ronny Tibbs returns with Shorthand his first project in five years, out now. The earnest, intricate EP arrives alongside the haunting, swirling “Little Beating Heart” and its self-directed, eerie music video. With Shorthand, Tibbs quiets the noise of the outside world as he examines who he is today and hones his creativity like never before. Each single arrived with a matching, self-directed music video where the music plays out on screen, putting Tibbs’ masterful filmmaking–in addition to his musicianship–on full display.

Shorthand, the smooth, stirring EP by Ronny Tibbs, meets the musician where he is today with its rich, masterful instrumentation, soaring vocals, and sincere lyricism. A labor of love created in life’s in-between moments, away from the grind of everyday life, where the band could exist in a sacred, creative space. The project allowed the group to experiment freely, unbound to any expectations. On the EP’s purpose and the necessary refuge it became, Tibbs says they aimed to “carve out time from life’s obligations to manifest the songs that had been haunting our consciousness, trapped in our minds with no outlet for far too long. It was time to break free and make time for creativity.” Another purpose of this EP, Tibbs adds, “was to embark on a project with friends, with the delightful ulterior motive of spending quality time together, defying life’s oppressive demands, and making room for memories.”

“Little Beating Heart” emerged in the wake of Tom Petty’s death, one that profoundly impacted Tibbs. The artist shares, His ability to combine meaningful lyrics with upbeat melodies using simple ‘cowboy chords’ inspired me. This song was built on that same foundation, with chords played in the first position.” The track’s percussion proved to be the project’s biggest undertaking. Tibbs adds, “We wanted to be very specific with the approach to the separate parts. Because the song’s chords were so simple, we aimed to create more interest in the track by making the drums both simple yet complex.”

rising dance-pop sensation Ella Rosa unveils the captivating music video for her latest single, “FUN.”

The video plunges viewers into a kaleidoscopic world of playful mischief and trippy visuals, perfectly matching the track’s hypnotic melodies and pulsating beats. True to its title, “FUN” is a vibrant, tongue-in-cheek celebration of the wild and wonderfully unhinged side of life, drawing you into Ella Rosa’s charismatic universe.

Six inch nails and effervescent sass may not be the norm for most opera singers born in the countryside in England, but then again, Ella Rosa doesn’t strive to be normal. The UK singer-songwriter now thrives in the bustling city of Los Angeles, bringing ferocity and pop power to underground club beats. The result, she describes, is a melding of “UK garage, drum and bass and bedroom pop that had a one-night stand.” It’s edgy, metallic and feels a little dangerous.

Yet with all the sleek and jagged armor that tightly clasps onto the exterior of her productions, there’s an innate tenderness on the inside that brings balance to her music. Coincidentally, it also highlights the duality of her life. Ella found her roots in classical music, learning piano and guitar, before crossing the Atlantic to study opera at the New School in New York. Her singing prowess as a soprano and her knack for songwriting have always remained constants in her creative journey, despite her shedding her operatic uniform for a more rebellious identity.

The emerging songstress has garnered more than five million streams across her catalog and has earned features by in-demand tastemakers like PAPER and GQ. Ella Rosa credits Lady Gaga, TLC, Stint and Tinashe as sources of inspiration. Her music invites you to go out, party all night, and embrace your most unapologetic self.

With Belinda’s flirtatious delivery—“No sé por qué en la disco pienso en ti / No es por el Hennessy” (I don’t know why in the disco I think of you / It’s not because of the Hennessy)—and Kenia Os’ playful energy, “Jackpot” is a celebration of living in the moment and surrendering to the electrifying spark between two people.

The vibrant music video, directed by Flakka, brings the track to life in a dazzling, intergalactic party. Bathed in pink and punctuated by an electric green shark, the video explodes with color and surreal visuals, perfectly complementing the song’s euphoric vibe. As Belinda and Kenia Os take on outer space, the video visually amplifies the lyrics—an all-encompassing adventure into the unknown, like the irresistible attraction they sing about. It’s a cosmic celebration that transports viewers to a world where love is limitless, daring, and out of this world.

Samantha Gongol, best known as one-half of the platinum-selling duo Marian Hill, is embarking on an exciting new chapter in her musical journey with her first solo release, “Flash in the Pan”. Now, with “Flash in the Pan”, Samantha steps into the spotlight on her own, showcasing a different sound and a more personal side of her artistry.

“Flash in the Pan”, along with its companion song “Planes are Low” (set to be released after) explores themes of self-reflection, uncertainty, and the passage of time. Samantha delves into the complexities of getting older, confronting the fear that her moment in the industry might have passed, and wrestling with the question of whether to keep going or walk away. But, as she playfully notes, “That’s showbiz, baby!” 🥳 Despite the introspective themes, Samantha approached this project with a sense of freedom. “Sonically, it’s quite a departure,” she says, “but I wanted to have fun with this record and do something really different from the band. I have been in Marian Hill for 10 years, and I love it so much. But I was just craving a little something new.”

‘Animalistic’ is a heavy-hitting label debut for the California-meets-New York duo. Throttled by thick basslines and slapping percussive hits, Milano and Daggz have manipulated dimension and texture to take the multilayered riddim track to the next level. Rambunctious and unruly, ‘Animalistic’ taps into the experimental bass music inspired by Rezz and HypnoVizion’s curation.

“Daggz first sent me this track and I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it, which was to make an absolutely feral banger. The dark nature of the stems he sent me were easy to compliment with some wet sounds and ominous undertones. Riddim is my guilty pleasure so I had a blast pulling influence from that side of electronic music.” – Milano

“This started out as an attempt to make my version of riddim. I wanted this to be a catalyst to a higher energy of the performance. This tune is dark, wild, and androgynous as it takes many forms all throughout the tune.” – Daggz
