Paddington in Peru (essentially Paddington 3) is a continuation of the beloved bear’s adventures, bringing a fresh and vibrant setting to the franchise. Directed by Dougal Wilson, this third installment takes Paddington (voiced by Ben Whishaw) on a journey to his homeland, Peru, where he embarks on a quest filled with heart, humor, and a touch of nostalgia.

The film opens with Paddington receiving a letter from the Reverend Mother (Olivia Colman), who runs the Home for Retired Bears where his Aunt Lucy resides. This sets the stage for a heartwarming reunion and a series of adventures that take Paddington and the Brown family from the familiar streets of London to the lush, vibrant landscapes of the Amazon rainforest.

One of the standout elements of Paddington in Peru is its stunning cinematography. The film beautifully captures the rich colors and diverse wildlife of the Amazon, making every scene a visual treat. The attention to detail in the set design and the seamless integration of CGI with live-action footage create an immersive experience that transports viewers to the heart of Peru.

Ben Whishaw once again brings Paddington to life with his gentle and sincere voice acting. His portrayal of the lovable bear is as endearing as ever, capturing Paddington’s innocence, curiosity, and unwavering optimism. Whishaw’s performance is complemented by a stellar cast, including Hugh Bonneville and Emily Mortimer as Mr. and Mrs. Brown, and Olivia Colman who shines as the Reverend Mother, bringing a joyous energy to her role. The supporting cast, including Antonio Banderas in a surprise role, adds depth and charm to the story.

The film’s screenplay, co-written by Paul King and Simon Farnaby, balances humor and heart effortlessly. The dialogue is witty and engaging, with plenty of laugh-out-loud moments that will appeal to both children and adults. The story also touches on themes of family, belonging, and the importance of preserving one’s heritage. This film is just as entertaining as the previous to, proving that this franchise isn’t losing it’s momentum any time soon. There’s never a dull moment, from it’s blend of slapstick comedy and heartfelt moments, audiences will be engaged from start to finish.

Paddington in Peru is a delightful addition to the Paddington franchise. This new adventure will captivate audiences of all ages. With its charming characters, beautiful setting, and engaging story, this film is a testament to the enduring appeal of everyone’s favorite marmalade-loving bear.
