Bess Chew’s journey into music began in Singapore, where she discovered a passion for the performing arts through musicals, drama, and choir. At 16, she moved to Perth, Australia, where she found a more freeing academic environment and later earned a degree in psychology from the University of Western Australia. However, her passion for music won out, leading her to pursue it full-time. Since releasing her debut single “Getaway” in June 2024, which landed on major Spotify playlists like Poses and New Music Friday Singapore, Chew continues to hone her craft. Her previous single, “Scarborough Sand,” received praise from outlets such as FEMMUSIC, Jammerzine, and Outloud! Culture.
Mara Liddle is a British pop artist, whose music fuses dance, electro and hyperpop to create a vibrant, addictive soundscape. With her bold energy, infectious hooks and relatable lyrics, Liddle depicts life as a young woman in the age of the internet, taking inspiration from artists including Charli XCX, Pinkpantheress and Shygirl.
Her latest release “Hush Hush” is a mysterious, sultry dance song that explores love triangles and the secrecy of hidden relationships. Inspired by romcoms and reality TV shows such as Love Island, Liddle touches on how love triangles are formed as a way to create drama and good television, but when it comes to our real life relationships, it can negatively influence them.
The songwriter shares, “My music is largely influenced by the digital age and media, the things that we see on Instagram or on TV, or the way that having a constant line of connection to someone can perpetuate anxiety in relationships. I liked the way that the line “put it on the screen, everybody sees” followed on from the line “caught you with my face on your screen” in my last single, “girl of your dreams”, and the idea that we live our lives through what we see online.”
The fast-paced track glistens with iridescent synths, ethereal vocals and a vibrant, kaleidoscopic melody, offering a more mature and nuanced side to Liddle.
Liddle’s music has been featured on BBC Introducing, nominated for Song of the Year 2023 by Future Hits Radio, and she has performed at various venues and festivals across the UK. As she enters an exciting new chapter, Mara Liddle is set to turn heads with “Hush Hush”.
Nashville’s Katie Schecter releases the infectious new single and video “Pay It No Mind.” The song serves as her personal mantra, but reminds us all not to sweat the small stuff. “It’s not about ignoring all things unfavorable and living in a bubble of ignorance…it’s about saving your energy for when it really counts, for the stuff that really matters” she shares. Stream / Watch the official video.
Schecter wrote the song in its entirety while sitting behind the drum kit. “That’s not my typical approach to writing, but I’d been listening to Bill Withers ‘Use Me Up’ on repeat just after he had passed, and I was pretending I was James Gadson (falling short obviously), and ended up landing on a groove that felt right and sang aloud to the beat. I put chords to it afterward.”
Recorded live to tape at New York City’s legendary Diamond Mine Studio, “Pay It No Mind” was produced by her husband and creative counterpart Nick Bockrath, lead guitarist for the rock outfit Cage The Elephant.
Featuring her close friends, the rhythm section of dreams Nick Movshon and Homer Steinweiss, Phil Towns on organ, and Matthan Minster on background vocals, it’s easy to understand why the track gets stuck in our heads after just one listen.
Born and raised in Toronto, Victoria Staff was always an “anxious child.” The string that connected much of her young life was using music to communicate with family, friends, teachers, and even therapists. Over time, this coping mechanism developed into a passion for music that would lead to her career as an indie-pop artist. Staff continues to use the written word to communicate with her audience. Her debut EP, Records & Honesty, was released in 2023 under the guidance of Canadian music producer Dan Hosh.
Sophomore EP, I Wake Up Smiling 🙁, is about living in the fact that sometimes you’ll be happy, and somedays you won’t and that’s okay. Happiness is super elusive, and that’s what Staff is constantly reminded of as she gets older. There are days where she actually does wake up smiling, but there are many, many, MANY days where she doesn’t. Sometimes it can feel like you’re chasing down happiness but it’s always faster. Like you’re always behind and can’t catch it but it’s about just giving it your best shot.
I Wake Up Smiling 🙁 features highlighted single, “My Whole Life Long,” the first song Staff has recorded that isn’t sad. Instead of being a cathartic outlet, “My Whole Life Long” is about finding the correct words and finding a way to communicate with someone when you’re lost for words. So many relationships are one sided, but “My Whole Life Long” tells a story where both people were in it together as equals.

Jarrid Lee, the soulful voice of Canadian country rock, releases his latest single “Too Good To Be True” today following an exclusive premiere on Live in Limbo. Co-written with Ashley Ghostkeeper, this track marks the first single from Jarrid’s highly anticipated upcoming album, Give It All Back, coming out next year.
“The reason why most relationships fail in today’s world,” Jarrid reflects on the song’s theme, “is because people are loving things more than they’re loving people.”
The inspiration behind “Too Good To Be True” dives into the growing disconnect in modern relationships, as people often become too absorbed by distractions to fully connect with others. Jarrid’s message is simple yet powerful: by being mindful and fully present, we may realize we’re already in the perfect moment to connect with the right person.
Written from two perspectives, “Too Good To Be True” blends Jarrid’s experiences as a husband who remains deeply in love with his wife, and Ashley’s viewpoint from the dating world, where vulnerability and trust often feel elusive. Together, they crafted a song that captures the longing and excitement of romantic connection. With its heartfelt message and relatable lyrics, Jarrid describes the single as a “wedding song” — an unexpected result that emerged naturally from their collaborative process.
“Grace has a melodic way of writing that not only stays in your head but reads what’s sitting in your soul. She writes what I’ve always wanted to say.” — Ruthie Foster (Grammy®-nominated blues artist)
Grace Pettis‘ much-anticipated sophomore MPress Records release, Down To The Letter, captures the Nashville-based (formerly Austin-based) singer-songwriter at the peak of her songwriting powers. Chronicling the end of a marriage and the reclamation of self after betrayal, codependency, and loss with heartbreaking detail, the lyrics deftly toe the line between personal pain and universal catharsis.
Mary Bragg — who also produced Pettis’ debut album on MPress, 2021’s Working Woman — was Pettis’ first choice for Down to the Letter as well, in spite of their second album calling for a markedly different approach. “I knew this album would be challenging,” says Pettis. “I was too close to these songs and the subject matter to be all that objective with things like song and production choices. But I was in good hands with Mary.”
Bragg and Pettis, along with good friend Josh Kaler (Frances Cone, Heather Nova), who contributes the majority of the electric and acoustic guitars on the album as well as pedal steel, make up the musical heart of the project. The three of them tracked much of the album in five days while holed up at musician/producer Jon Estes’ home studio in Nashville, when Jon and his family were out of town. While Grace played and sang and Mary contributed back-up vocals and acoustic guitar, Josh did the engineering until it was his turn to play something. Then Mary took over the engineering while he laid down his guitar parts.
Pettis reveals: “It was a very different process from the way Mary and I made our last record together. We recorded Working Woman at Sound Emporium, which is this big, beautiful, historic studio in Nashville. We brought in a raucous rock and roll band and we tracked it live, for the most part.” But Bragg’s instinct for Down to the Letter was ro record the project somewhere more familiar and intimate in a cozy and personal atmosphere. “It was just the three of us working on it for days,” Grace explains: “That was smart, because it was the kind of safe and supportive environment I needed, where I was among friends and could be emotionally vulnerable with in the way I needed to be, to get the vocals we wanted to get.” She concedes that she cried in her car after some of those days in the studio, so cathartic was the experience for her. “Mary was so great about allowing me to be human, while also encouraging me to make the best art possible.”
Kaitlyn Olson is a singer-songwriter born and raised in Los Angeles. After years of writing dance-pop and KPOP hits for other artists, Olson is returning to her roots with her debut EP, After The Rain, perfectly encompassing who the artist is and offering a mid-tempo, soulful sound that embodies her personality. The four-track, bedroom pop release is focused around themes of love and heartbreak, capturing raw emotion and vulnerability with every song and drawing listeners into a deeply personal journey of self-discovery and resilience.
Entering with “Everytime,” an unrushed confession that arrives as the antidote to the cool girl era we’re in. “Everytime” oozes with open-hearted sensuality over a hypnotic bassline and introspective synths. “This is just a straight up love song because we need more love in this world, especially right now!” shares Olson. Embracing her vulnerability, Olson finds strength in being unapologetically open about her desires and needs.
The title-track, “After The Rain” was created one day over some simple chords Olson wrote on the piano in a session with friends Tyler Shamy and Palmer Reed. The inspiration behind the song began when Olson was woken up on the morning of the session by a call from an ex-boyfriend that had broken her heart that she had begun talking to again. He randomly Facetimed her to show off his family’s extensive heirloom collection of fine jewelry that he had taken out of the safe and put on display for Olson. The songwriter explains, “The visual was so striking to me as I was half asleep, because I couldn’t believe that the same guy I was crying on the floor over years ago was now chasing me down dangling jewelry!” She ultimately decided he wasn’t for her.
“After The Rain” then morphed into an empowering anthem for her best friend who was going through a horrible break up at the time. Olson shares, “I was so inspired by my wake up call that day, that I wanted to write a song for her to let her know that everything was going to be okay! The song is for anyone with a broken heart who’s hoping to have the last laugh over someone who wasn’t worth their tears in the first place, because “After the rain, roses sprout out of the ground.” The message in the song, however, is more about finding self-love than anything, which is always a place I try to write from, as embodied in the lyric, “You find light you never found, even when no one’s around.”

Anandita is an Indian-American soulful pop singer-songwriter who is characterized by her dynamic vocal prowess, cathartic lyricism, and relatable storytelling. The 17-year-old was born and raised in the Bay Area of California by Indian immigrant parents. Introduced to music when she was just a toddler, Anandita began playing tunes on the mini toy keyboard that her parents bought for her. Even at such an early age, she was a music perfectionist, slamming the keys and having small breakdowns over wrong notes. Speaking only Tamil, when she was a preschooler, Anandita learned to communicate in English by singing popular American hit songs.
As a teen, she became inspired by not only Indian classical music, but also by Ariana Grande and 90s icons including Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston, admiring their incredible power and spectacular vocal versatility. Soon, her own singing ability became undeniable and she began to study under famed vocal teacher, Michael Orland. Orland is well-known for his work with American Idol and has helped launch countless young talents’ successful careers. Their collaboration proved to be written in the stars, as Orland encouraged Anandita to begin writing her own music. Teaming up with producer Miklos Malek (Jennifer Lopez, Anastacia), the trio met in Dubai to record and write Anandita’s debut single “Anything”.
“Anything” is a heart-gripping song that features a mix of powerful vocals and a profound chorus that is as timeless as it is captivating. The track begins with Anandita singing the first verse softly, gradually taking the listener on an honest and emotive journey that culminates into a dramatic anthem of strength and vulnerability. Lyrics such as, “That the way you treated me / Would lead me to a broken heart / I can’t feel anything,” echo the relatable and universal narrative of being stuck in an unfulfilled relationship or friendship while trying to find the courage to break free. Anandita confides, “I’m sure everyone has been in a situation where you’re involved with someone that you deeply care about, and you just know that the feeling isn’t reciprocated. “Anything” is actually about a toxic friendship. Still, the attachment is so strong and you’re not able to leave, and after getting hurt so many times in this endless, toxic loop, eventually, you just become emotionally numb to everything…you can’t feel anything.”
Now based in India, Anandita continues to write and record music, perfecting her craft every day. She hopes her music helps listeners feel like they’re not alone in difficult situations and that they are inspired to embody confidence, authenticity, and self-respect. “No one wants to experience negative emotions, but one good thing that comes from this is that it can form really close bonds with others going through similar experiences.” Anandita is one to watch as she steps into the spotlight with her stunning debut single. “Anything” is out now.
