INsiders Guide: ultravividpink, shy FLW, STRANGEWAYS, Matthew Ryan Thomas, 1788-L, TYLA….

Fast-rising West London based newcomer ultravividpink has finally landed, with her otherworldly new EP ULTRA set for release on the 28th of November.

A true storyteller ultravividpink takes us on a journey of love, lust, and heartbreak as she explores the complexities and duality of God complexes, crippling insecurity, and self-worth. Taking twists and turns the lyrical content of the EP searches for answers as ultravividpink looks within, as well as at a relationship that is no longer serving her. Equal parts tender and charming ULTRA is infused with perfect pop hooks, emotive R&B melodies and intricately executed production cementing the young talent as a significant one to watch.

“Ultra” acts as an epic opening track to the project, setting the tone for the otherworldly elements to follow in abundance. Connecting syncopated percussion with waves of enticing chords and futuristic production ultravividpink’s impressive vocal range oozes personality as she dances between full voice and falsetto. Seamlessly blending genres “Endredada” (English translation “Tangled Up”) combines Favela funk with jersey beats

and the pop and R&B ultravividpink has become known for. Bursting with texture the songstress sings in her native language as beautifully arranged harmonies and melodies take centre stage. Layering delicate keys, effortless harmonies and ultravividpink’s distinctive tone, focus track “End it Now” takes us on a sonic journey with complex production and emotive lyrics. Exploring topics of co-dependency and self-sabotage ultravividpink is joined by musical artist elevatetoday, gracing the track with his signature raspy vocals. Bringing the EP to a close “Hate 2 Hate U” is laced with emotive acoustic guitar chords laying the flawless foundation for ultravividpink’s delicate vocals in this earnest and vulnerable heartbreak anthem. Reflecting on a painful break-up, the upcoming talent sings: “Hate to hate you, push you off a pedestal, I’d love to shake you lose.” Perfectly pitched harmonies are effortlessly woven between intricate twinkling keys and soulful melodies creating rich layers of unfiltered emotion, proving ultravividpink’s ability to encapsulate her feelings through the vessel of her music.

emerging Norwegian artist shy FLW, now based in London, unveils her debut EP ‘until now’. The project is a heartfelt collection that represents her journey and evolution over the past year. Gathering everything she’s released, along with an unreleased track, ‘Losing You’, the EP is a showcase of her versatility as both a singer and songwriter, taking inspiration from genres like neo-soul, hip-hop, and old-school R&B. Each track embodies her distinct voice – cool, interesting, and angelic – with a recognisable sound that’s uniquely shy FLW.

Kent based; fast rising band Strangeways release their latest indie/post punk gem “Modern Art”.

Equal parts raw and rich, “Modern Art” is laced with perfectly placed guitars, rhythmic bass melodies and nostalgic drum patterns laying a timeless foundation for Tom’s distinctively charismatic vocals. Exploring the impact of social media in the modern world, the band continue to build a name for themselves through their poignant lyricism, storytelling abilities and undeniable musicianship.

Delving into the meaning behind the track, Max tells us: “I intended to write a song about the human race’s new habit of social media and doom scrolling but as I wrote it, it became more about the act of ‘stalking’ someone’s social media profile and detailing how casually you can find out so much about someone, ironically at their own discretion. The lyrics explore how there is almost a standard and an etiquette to social media profiles, that people clearly spend time and make artistic decisions around, whether that be a colour scheme or theme. It also investigates, particularly in the chorus, how casual and flippant this modern act of ‘stalking’ is now, thanks to the immediate availability that phones and social media provide. Musically and lyrically, I drew a lot of inspiration from bands like The Kinks and

The Jam. Particularly lyricall, as Wellers choice to write about subjects other than romantic relationships or love always fascinated me. The mundanity of life has changed, and my aim is to capture that same sneering attitude from all those years ago and use that to strike some familiarity with our modern-day rituals.”

Irish queer singer-songwriter matthew ryan thomas soundtracks his clumsy gay awakening in ‘Armour and the Arrow’. This angsty track delves into the experience of being confronted by memories of a first love and the range of complex emotions that accompany it.

‘Armour and the Arrow’ is available now on your streaming service of choice via APOLLO Distribution.

Enigmatic artist 1788-L has unleashed his anticipated Nu-Type Vol. 1 EP out now via HypnoVizion. The EP features recent singles ‘WASP.exe’ and ‘WARTYPE’ with Quackson.

Nu-Type Vol. 1 marks a new era for 1788-L, one that sees the producer known for his innovative take on midtempo bass and trap expand into drum and bass. The four-track project is a hair-raising adventure that preys on 1788-L’s genre-bending signature while charting new territory into faster rhythms and hyperactive breaks. The EP’s new accompaniments, ‘NANOBLADE’ and ‘PRISMTECH’, each offer a window into the edgy, industrial attitude that will soundtrack 1788-L’s next chapter.

“Nu-Type Vol. 1 is the faster, more intelligent adaptation of the synthetic automaton 1788-L.  With every song relying heavily, but not entirely, on drum n bass – an all new facet of 1788-L is born. While in a new lane, this EP still showcases the classic allure of the automaton. Big, loud, and heavy bass sounds are present throughout, with grooves ready for the club and festival alike.” – 1788-L

Lily Lane is a soul pop princess and alliterative artist hailing from the east coast and now taking over the west. A former Wilhelmina Curve model and outspoken advocate for body positivity, women and LGBTQ rights, this bicoastal, bisexual bombshell has been turning heads with everything she does.

Following the release of her new five-track EP Love, Lily Lane, the songwriter is now serving up the perfect track for the holiday season. “Blue on Christmas” was inspired by everything Christmassy, from gingerbread and the smell of pine, to laying in Central Park and watching the leaves fall off the tree and feeling the excitement of the holiday season ahead. Lane shares, “As a child the most exciting thing about Christmas is the magic of it, the stories of miracles and Santa, but as an adult the thing that really makes the holiday season special is who you spend it with.”

Built around the melodic and lyrically oblique songwriting of Irish-Persian musician Sam R., Glassio has become a staple Indie-Electronic outfit over the past 7 years, garnering millions of streams online and amassing a loyal fanbase around the world. Born out of a love for applying a melodic sweetness to brooding dance beats, the indie-pop outfit has carved out a unique sound that often bridges influences from Big Beat to Chamber Pop to New Wave.

Born and raised in both Sharjah in the Middle East and Monterey in California, Sam R. fell in love with music listening to Pet Sounds and Graceland on his way to school in the mornings. “It was that  juxtaposition of hearing Brian Wilson’s harmonies in a very barren, desert/Arabian landscape that I think planted the seeds for my love for making music that mixes different influences and challenges associations you might have with certain instruments,” Sam explains.

A Debut EP Poptimism was released in 2016 to critical acclaim and viral success with lead single “Try Much Harder” peaking at No. 9 on the Global Viral Charts on Spotify. A series of singles and the Age of Experience EP followed in 2018, further cementing Glassio as an act that “proves that electronic music and great storytelling are a perfect match.”

LiMaVii’s unique sound defies traditional genres, blending art with healing. Critics and therapists alike praise her ability to tap into deep, primordial energies, using her voice to align listeners with harmony and balance. Her compositions are now used in therapeutic settings, solidifying her as a pioneer in sound healing.

Mysterious and innovative, LiMaVii’s mission is to inspire personal and collective transformation through the power of music, proving that sound is a universal force of love and connection.

Her latest single “The Sound of X-Mas” is a timeless and fresh festival pop single. She shares, “I wrote this song to rekindle the magical charm of Christmas! My greatest wish is to spread joy, love, and warmth to hearts all around the world. When I was just 13, my parents divorced—on December 6th, Saint Nicholas Day. It was a difficult time, especially during such a season of hope and light. But even as a child, I found a way to understand; perhaps it was meant to be if it brought them closer to true happiness. And in my heart, I longed for happiness too. Christmas holds some of my dearest childhood memories. It was a season that felt so special, filled with wonder and togetherness. I’ll never forget the beauty of our Christmas tree, lovingly decorated by the entire family, the warmth that seemed to fill every corner of the house, and the genuine joy and laughter that surrounded us. This song is my way of holding onto those precious memories and sharing the spirit of love and light that makes Christmas truly magical.”

Mara Liddle is a British pop artist, whose music fuses dance, electro and hyperpop to create a vibrant, addictive soundscape. With her bold energy, infectious hooks and relatable lyrics, Liddle depicts life as a young woman in the age of the internet, taking inspiration from artists including Charli XCX, Pinkpantheress and Shygirl.

Her latest release “Hush Hush” is a mysterious, sultry dance song that explores love triangles and the secrecy of hidden relationships. Inspired by romcoms and reality TV shows such as Love Island, Liddle touches on how love triangles are formed as a way to create drama and good television, but when it comes to our real life relationships, it can negatively influence them.

The songwriter shares, “My music is largely influenced by the digital age and media, the things that we see on Instagram or on TV, or the way that having a constant line of connection to someone can perpetuate anxiety in relationships. I liked the way that the line “put it on the screen, everybody sees” followed on from the line “caught you with my face on your screen” in my last single, “girl of your dreams”, and the idea that we live our lives through what we see online.”

Acclaimed electronic musician, producer and activist Moby shares all-new remixes with two disc, 57-track album, always centered at night remixes out now via Mute alongside “wild flame (dark1 remix)” featuring Danaé. The whopping LP comes following Quiet Home DJ Mix and a sold out September 2024 EU/UK tour celebrating 25 years of Play.

Moby opens up the sheer scope of the acan album project with a meaty 57-track remix album. The latest single, out today, is the cosmic “dark1” remix of “wild flame” which finds Danaé delightful vocals shimmering over loose congas, spacey synths and intricate rhythms. The new, re-worked tracks see Moby breathe new life into the 2023 original body of work.

Even by Moby’s standards, always centered at night is a bit special. The album features 13 collaborations in all, from names one might recognize to others listeners undoubtedly will come to recognize. Lead single “dark days” was recorded with acclaimed soul-jazz singer-songwriter Lady Blackbird, a defiant, rhythmic work propelled by her alluring, deep vocals and earnest soul. Other collaborators include serpentwithfeet on the achingly beautiful “on air,” and Benjamin Zephaniah on the propulsive, break- beat driven “where is your pride?,” a spoken word with a powerful message delivered in the late dub poet’s characteristically warm Handsworth burr. “As a vegan activist, and as a wise and compassionate man, Benjamin inspired me for many years,” says Moby. “I hope that ‘where is your pride?’ honors his legacy and also draws people’s attention to his life, work, and principles.”

Other wonderful voices on always centered at night include Sudanese, Netherlands-based chanteuse Gaidaa on “transit,” London based Burundian royal refugee J.P. Bimeni, and Kingston raised, London based Aynzli Jones.

Always centered at night–the album–is the continuation of the project of the same name that Moby announced in 2022. He saw this project as a similar service to the idiosyncratic New York record shops that he frequented in the late 1980s, where he’d hear something recondite and exciting and it would open up whole new worlds. always centered at night was his way of working with special writers and vocalists to make songs inspired by the spirit of musical discovery.

In his pursuit of new sounds, Moby has become something of a collector of voices. He’s a connoisseur of the timbre and texture of human vocal chords, whether sampling artists like Bessie Jones, Vera Hall or Boy Blue on Play, or working with superstars like David Bowie, Ozzy Osborne and Britney Spears; “I’m always looking. Sometimes it’s about going on YouTube. Sometimes it’s Spotify. Other times, it’s just walking around Lower Manhattan going to karaoke places, where I’ve actually found a couple of singers. It’s this constant process of looking for voices, and getting excited and inspired when I find a wonderful voice.”

Ski Team is the solo moniker of Lucie Lozinski, an independent songwriter, singer, producer, and guitarist who’s known for her yearning lyrics, crystalline voice, and gritty instrumentation. American Songwriter has described her music as “… a quasi-Americana sound, combining traditional folk and rock elements with undeniably modern soundscapes.”

Originally from New Jersey, Lozinski infuses everything with a bit of her roots. “That sounds like New Jersey,” says Lozinski about the anthemic distorted guitar chorus on her single “Don’t Give Up (Yet)” out now. She writes vulnerably about her relationships with people and places. “I move a lot,” she says. “My songs usually come from being stuck somewhere—in a rut with a friend, with a boyfriend repeating the same fights, in a city that all my friends have left.”

The daughter of musicians, Lozinski grew up with a recording studio in her backyard and ample opportunities to perform, including the U.S. Open international tennis championship when she was just eight years old. She’s sung with icons like Tony Bennett and Queen Latifa as well as hometown friends Kevin Kuh (of Pool Cosby), Sam Ryan, and her brother’s band Snacks Chapman. Although Lozinski has been an unlisted vocalist on albums since her childhood, it wasn’t until she met producer Bobby Renz in San Francisco in 2019 that she readied her own music for release. The pair recorded Ski Team’s latest singles at Different Fur Records in the Mission District, which also provided the single’s cover art. “I took that picture of the dog in the car in the Mission,” explained Lozinski. “It’s such a vibe and conveys all I could ever hope to communicate about my own personality.”

Portland-based singer-songwriter Avery Hill recently released her sophomore full-length album, The One Who Remembers. This album marks a significant return to her roots as a storyteller and reflects Avery’s profound personal journey. “The title is an introduction to myself as an artist,” Avery explains. “I am not a flashy performer or a storm chaser; I am the one who remembers.” She further elaborates, “Fundamentally, every artist is a ‘rememberer,’ and the purpose of art is to invite us all to remember what it is to be human.” The album title, she adds, is also the title of the opening track and represents “a certain amount of humility” and “a truer picture of myself,” emphasizing that her role is to reflect and make sense of experiences rather than seek attention.

Avery’s music career began in a home filled with the sounds of her parents’ favorites. She recalls, “My mother bought me my first guitar and patiently listened to me rave about Joni Mitchell. My father made me mixtapes and taught me to harmonize to The Beach Boys on the radio.” Originally aspiring to be a teacher, Avery’s life took a creative turn after teaching in classrooms across Germany, Vermont, Washington, and Oregon.

In 2015 she released her first full-length album, Dreams & Ghosts: A Family Album, which received critical acclaim and ranked in the Top 10 on the Folk DJ charts. Tom May of River City Folk praised the album, stating, “This emerging singer-songwriter has a memorable, lilting voice and is already penning songs that could someday be classics. She is an extraordinary young talent.”

Nashville, TN-based singer-songwriter Jesse Daniel Edwards is gearing up for the October 18th release of Clap Trap Venus on Cavity Search Records. Edwards’ journey from his small-town roots in Cuyamaca, California, to acclaimed musician in Nashville has been marked by significant evolution and resilience. His unique artistic voice, honed through years of busking on street corners across the U.S. and abroad, has consistently pushed the boundaries of genre and expectation.

Edwards’ previous album, Violensia (Cavity Search Records), released in June 2023, marked a significant shift in his musical approach. Moving away from his Americana roots, Edwards embraced a more operatic, piano-driven rock style. “Violensia was a springboard to exploring a weaponized version of the pretty, singer-songwriter music I had been composing for years,” Edwards explains. “The sheer force of the hammering piano and bombastic rhythm section elevated the drama and range of my vocal ability and intensity.”

Despite some critical acclaim that Violensia received, the album’s campaign proved to be challenging. Edwards faced unexpected setbacks, including a significant personal blow when his dear friend and drummer fell gravely ill during a tour. “It was devastating, personally more than musically,” Edwards reflects. The illness of his bandmate led to a period of profound reassessment, both of his life and his career. “We all had to reassess just about everything overnight. Thankfully, he has made a remarkable recovery and is now back in the saddle.” During this time, he also experienced a bad breakup. “Is there ever a good one?,” he asks rhetorically.

This personal and professional upheaval, combined with the underwhelming campaign for Violensia, led Edwards into a period of introspection. “The Violensia campaign proved to be largely underwhelming, for all our high hopes,” he admits. “The gigs dried up completely, and the money ran out. The technical term—not musically, mind you—is falling into a ‘funk,’ and you ask yourself, ‘well, now what?’”

Before she was Party Nails, Elana Carroll was a guitar-toting tween, playing any open mic near her hometown of Chatham, New York. At home she recorded herself with Garageband, instigating a love of music technology which continues to this day. Party Nails debuted in 2015 on Neon Gold’s famed blog with Break. Her first tour in 2017 (with PVRIS and Lights) ushered in a devoted fanbase, and her live performances continue to be a core facet of her artistry, being equal parts Madonna, Hayley Williams, and Sheryl Crow. In 2020 she wrote Rockin’ on the Rag, a song about period pride, for Loren Bouchard’s Apple animated series Central Park, wrote and produced the Le Tigre-infused Supernatural for feminist rock duo Deap Vally, and continued to lend her vocals to other musicians (LŪN, Urban Heat, Battle Tapes, MitiS, Getter, and others have featured her vocals on their releases). Her music has been in movies and television (Glass, Girls, The L Word: Generation Q, Nancy Drew, Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin) featured in various media outlets (Billboard, PAPER, Noisey, Earmilk, Paste and more) and included on Spotify Editorial playlists such as Fresh Finds, Fresh Finds Indie, and Undercurrents. She operates a recording studio, Top Coat, in Los Angeles, where she records, produces and mixes for other artists as well as her own projects.

Her new noir-electropop track “Trigger Warning” radiates with synthwave energy, bringing to mind Kavinsky’s hit “Nightcall” as much as Chromatics and The Weeknd. Singing as a survivor processing her abusive relationship, the verses speak on injury and pain, endurance and triumph. When she sings ”you’re gonna keep on rising / with the morning sun.”, Party Nails is once again holding space for opposing emotional forces in an immersive yet accessible piece of music.

Trigger Warning” is off of her upcoming album Pillow Talk. On Party Nails long-awaited third album, Carroll has partnered with Eye Knee Records (founded by musicians Holly Miranda & Amb. Parsley, with the sharp mind and steady hand of boss lady, Elissa Young). Pillow Talk is due for release in January 2025.

The project of Philadelphia-based singer/songwriter, Jeff Hartwig, Battleflagg was conceived in 2020 after demoing a new set of songs and feeling the need to regain some agency in an age of personal, social and political unrest. Battleflagg is not so much a band but a collective of like-minded musicians and visual artists, formed during the pandemic to combat an age of creeping cynicism. With a sound that blends traditional rock instrumentation with ambient synths, drum loops and samples, Hartwig’s Battleflagg songs seek to straddle the Heartland/Americana/Indie rock divides, leaning into direct, heart-on-sleeve lyrics and arena-size, sing-along choruses.

Hartwig’s musical backstory is prolific. His first pro gig was opening for the Ramones as the lead singer of King Flux, made up of former members of punk rock innovators the Plasmatics, a show for which he was castigated by Johnny Ramone for jumping on Johnny’s stage box during the opening set. After a year of powering through the downtown scene at CBGBs and other Lower East Side clubs, King Flux dissolved — Richie Stotts, the band’s founder, went on to grad school — and Hartwig found himself opening as a solo act for bands on the Blues/Americana circuit, including The Holmes Brothers, Clarence Gatemouth Brown and Commander Cody.

Looking for a change of sound and scenery, the singer-songwriter moved to San Francisco in the late 90s, where he immediately fell into a thriving Indie/Americana/Punk scene. Fronting an Americana(ish) band called the Dangs, he established a strong following playing with then-rising bands Third Eye Blind, Cake and Train, who the Dangs opened for at the Fillmore Auditorium on the release of Train’s debut album. The Dangs also shared stages with many Americana/Indie acts while on tour, including Dave Alvin, The Connells, and Dash Rip Rock.

Bristol’s rising indie-rock band HUNNY BUZZ  are back with their electrifying new single, ‘Nice Guy’. This fiery track showcases the quintet’s dynamic range, from the commanding lead vocals to the band’s exhilarating instrumentation. Nice Guy’ captures the spirit and talent of all five members, cementing their position as one of the most exciting acts in the indie-rock scene today.

Award-winning singer-songwriter and contemporary composer Carmen Braden shares her new album, A Hard Light, out now on all digital streaming platforms. Listen hereCarmen is also featuring ‘The Dance’ as the fourth single from the album, following previous singles Voice In The Dark’An Invite‘ and Really Pretty.

With her latest single, ‘The Dance,’ the Yellowknife-based musician gives us a soul-soothing roots blues track that feels like a fresh breath of air from a bygone era. With its laid-back acoustic strumming and emotive yet abrasive delivery, the song evokes a nostalgic, almost cinematic vibe that would fit right in with the folk-rock gems of the 90s. The song was birthed during the isolating days of the pandemic, when Carmen, like many of us, found herself navigating moments of personal frustration.

“I wrote the core idea for ‘The Dance’ during the COVID lockdown,” says Carmen. “One day I had a shift in attitude about something that was frustrating me, it might have been something with my really young kids, a relationship, the state of the world – I can’t even remember now exactly what! I decided instead of being frustrated and upset with it – ok, mostly with myself – I would treat it like a chance to play, to invite this frustrating thing closer and see what happens.”

Rising Swedish R&B starlet Bavé returns with an incendiary music video for “Anima (Think of You)” – released via The Satchi Six.

The first single from his upcoming debut album, “Anima (Think of You)” emerges as an electric wall of sound; power-charged guitars and rolling drum breaks set pace for Bavé’s stylish falsetto to melt into the sleek, cathartic backdrop. Shades of soft rock and R&B dominate the mood board as his raw, intricate lyrics lament the complexities of love and the toxic affirmations that distort our realities. The young talent pleads: “Please don’t let me in // I couldn’t be your friend”, trapped in confusion and jealousy that spirals the deeper he explores.

Backed by a stunning cinematic video directed by Nicolina Knapp (B-REEL FILMS, Midsommar), the powerful sonics explode into a raw, fever dream of visual art. The

stylish clash of absurdism and performance becomes elevated through an array of elegant, charismatic individuals; flourishing across gritty yet glamourous spaces as Bavé observes an intoxicating excursion through the night. Jumping from jail cells and support groups to a frantic closing scene that cuts through the chaos, “Anima (Think of You)” continues to establish Bavé as a significant creative force, balancing vulnerability and authority as a testament to his evolution in the arts.

Speaking on the track, Bavé shares: “’Anima (Think of You)’ explores the theme of unhealthy obsession. It’s a song about when the thoughts of someone become so overwhelming that all your senses are consumed by their presence. At that point, you lose the ability to think rationally, even though you know the situation is bad for you. It’s that feeling of being trapped in an intense, almost destructive longing, where reality is blurred by your own fantasies and desires.”

Shaped by two decades of work as a climbing arborist, Fraser Teeple approaches music like a tradesman: he respects the strong tradition he stands within, and works carefully and with dedication to master the skill of telling a story, creating an image, or crafting a melody.

His economy and sensitivity as a songwriter are driven home with a textured voice that can cut through an east-end dive bar or soulfully creak out a heart-breaker to a still concert hall.

He has apprenticed in bars, coffee shops, and music venues across Canada and Europe — and has become a soundtrack for driving down a dirt road, renovating a house, and burning driftwood on a northern beach.

His latest album, We Built a Fire, sees Fraser collaborate with producer Matthew Johnston to create a record that is at once ethereal and rooted, dirty and clean. Something that feels built in the tradition of songwriters like Bonnie Raitt and Bruce Springsteen, but sounds completely like itself: northern, soulful, gritty, rural, well-traveled, honest, desperate, hurt, generous, hopeful, warm.

Nashville-based alt-pop singer and songwriter Caroline Romano is back today with her evocative new single, “Born To Want More.” With this release, Caroline also unveils the title of her highly anticipated upcoming EP, How The Good Girls Die, set to drop in early 2025.

“Born To Want More,” along with recent hits like “Body Bag” and “Pretty Boys,” sets the tone for an EP that promises to push creative boundaries and further establish Caroline’s voice in the alt-pop scene. “Born To Want More” is a candid and powerful anthem that captures the ache of reaching for dreams that always seem just out of reach. The track opens with intimate, stripped-back guitar and Caroline’s emotive vocals before building into a frenzied indie-rock soundscape that amplifies her story of yearning and resilience.

Reflecting on her inspiration, Caroline shares, “I wrote ‘Born to Want More’ during a time when I was grappling with a series of ‘almosts’—those moments where things felt so close but still just out of reach. This song captures that wits-end feeling where you’re wondering if you’ll ever find what you’re looking for. You’re chasing experiences and feelings that you know exists but you haven’t yet found. It’s something I know all too well.” She adds, “It’s by far one of my more vulnerable songs I’ve released, and it’s one of my favorites for that reason.”

Rising artist Grace Davies delivers an emotionally resonant Christmas narrative with her latest double single, exploring the multifaceted nature of the holiday season. Born from an unexpected moment of creativity which sparked a writing bout Grace refers to as “Christmas in July”, ‘The 25th’ and ‘It Ain’t Christmas’ are set to challenge the traditional festive soundtrack.

‘The 25th’ captures the anticipation of a Christmas reunion, articulating how a single day can validate 364 days of separation. “The longer the wait, the better the kiss… As long as you’re making it home by the 25th”. Co-written with topliner Ben Lythe, Davies celebrates that powerful connection and crafts a universal narrative about love that transcends distance. With delicate vocals and a wholesome, nostalgic piano melody that embodies the season’s warmth, Davies delivers us a timeless ‘Christmas classic’ sound we all know and love.

‘It Ain’t Christmas’ crafts a haunting exploration of holiday grief through a piano-driven soundscape that transcends traditional Christmas music. The poignant closing lyric “Christmas ain’t Christmas without you” offers a raw, emotional perspective on loss – transforming personal pain into a universally relatable feeling of seasonal melancholy – a sorrowful reality many experience during the holidays. Written in 2021, the track originated from a spontaneous burst of inspiration whilst rehearsing for a live session. “It Ain’t Christmas fell out of me, in the same way that ‘roots’ did,” Davies reveals “I was supposed to be practicing a Christmas cover as a backup and I just thought… you know what, I’ll just write one!”.
