YPC (Young People’s Chorus of New York City) will be featured at the 17th Annual NYC Independent Film Festival with a screening of its documentary, This Time Round, on June 7 at 4:30 pm at The Producers Club.
Set against the backdrop of a pandemic-stricken New York City, This Time Round is a moving portrait of resilience and hope. Through the voices of YPC’s young choristers, the film captures the power of community, music, and creativity in times of profound uncertainty. The soundtrack features original compositions from some of today’s most celebrated composers, including Paquito D’Rivera, Michael Gordon, David Lang, Ted Hearne, Paola Prestini, and more.
The film has garnered international praise, including honors for Best Producer at the Toronto Indie Filmmakers Festival and Best Soundtrack at the New York International Film Awards. A limited-edition vinyl release of the soundtrack is planned for later this year.
YPC has long been a trailblazer in youth choral performance and education, commissioning over 300 works and earning global acclaim, including five gold medals at the 2024 World Choir Games. Under the visionary leadership of founder Francisco J. Núñez and Creative Director Elizabeth Núñez, YPC continues to redefine what young voices can achieve on stage and now on screen.
