Rising indie-rock star meg elsier makes a powerful return with her new single “sportscar [scrapped],” the lead single from the deluxe edition of her acclaimed debut album spittake, out July 25th via Bright Antenna Records

A sleek, emotionally charged indie-pop track with alt-rock undercurrents, “sportscar [scrapped]” fuses crisp guitar textures, shimmering synths, and a driving rhythm. The song unfolds from quiet introspection into a soaring, energetic chorus, mirroring the emotional acceleration alluded to in its title. Hook-laden, heartfelt, and tailor-made for late-night drives, “sportscar [scrapped]” captures the weight of growing pains with poetic clarity.

“‘sportscar’ is a really interesting addition to the deluxe, specifically because ‘spittake’ almost had a completely different identity,” meg reveals. “There was a time when I was playing with the idea of naming the album Check Engine Light On. The influence of cars and how they move you through life is something I didn’t realize was so important to ‘spittake’ until after I’d written it.”

She continues, “I was really identifying with my beat-up car my mother gave me. It was this thing handed to me that I treated like shit… But that kinda was my life at the time. Something that was shiny and fast, a veneer; but if you checked under the hood, it was burning out. The oil was dark, and the engine was smoking. I would dye my hair (new paint job), get dolled up (took her to the car wash), and perform so well socially when I went out (that V8 engine purring, baby), but that was all it was. I had a coming-to moment like, ‘This isn’t sustainable and I’m about to crash out.’”

Speaking about Masses In Glasses, The Baxbys said “We recorded it in The Baxbys’ makeshift home studio in Amherst, Massachusetts and it was produced by David Greenbaum. The song inverts conventional tropes about romantic praise. With its atmospheric yet tight production, it follows one member’s post-breakup flings which revealed the arrogance of “the masses” and highlighted the depth of a former partner.”

Formed in basements of Amherst, Massachusetts, The Baxbys,  consists of guitarist and vocalist Alex Nordlund, 24 guitarist James Miller, 23, Drummer Chris Sciucco and Bass player Spencer Rosenfeld, 23.  They cite The Cure, The Smiths, Pixies, Weezer and The Strokes as some of their musical influences. Asked about their process to making music, they explain “Typically the best ideas come from some indescribable mysterious place. I guess you can call that your subconscious. It’s just about writing down/recording those feelings and ideas. The 4-piece band sold out the Mercury Lounge in NYC last year.

“Masses in Glasses” is the second single from The Baxbys’ debut album, following “In a Cage.”  Details to follow shortly.

Peter Landi is a multi-instrumentalist hailing from the East End of Long Island, New York. Currently living in Canada, he has called Toronto home for the better part of a decade.

From the start, he’s had a singular drive: make great music. From his formative years in hometown basements, to gigging on the Lower East Side, to now touring the globe with a myriad of artists, he does just that.

Shortly after moving to Toronto, Landi joined forces with Canadian punks, Single Mothers, and has since become an in-demand touring and studio drummer for artists like Julianna Riolino, Nicolette & The Nobodies, Espanola, Eamon McGrath, The Drew Thomson Foundation, and many more.

Like his peers, Landi was uncertain about his future during March of 2020. Canceled tours gave him time to comb through his demos, sparking a new phase in his songwriting. The result was a collection of singles that were lyrically personal in a new sonic landscape. His first single, “High,” was featured in this year’s critically acclaimed, IFC Canadian slasher film, In A Violent Nature.

His latest offering, “Dandelion”, continues to showcase his ability to write songs full of catchy hooks and melodies that stay stuck in your head. Drawing inspiration from giants like Tom Petty, Oasis and Queens of the Stone Age, Peter Landi still manages to sound uniquely like himself.

Turkish-Italian producer, multi-instrumentalist, and “one of fashion’s favorite DJs” (British Vogue), Carlita, returns to Ninja Tune with “See It As A Sign,” a luminous new collaboration with French producer and vocalist Myd, out now.

The single follows Carlita’s acclaimed debut album Sentimental (amassing over 30 million plays on DSPs), and marks a continued evolution in Carlita’s sound—one that threads together her classical roots, global club experience, and sharp melodic instincts.

Built around a hypnotic electric guitar riff and warm, deep house textures, “See It As A Sign” captures the wistful clarity of a late-night connection. Myd lends his distinct vocal presence to the track, singing of fate, alignment, and intuitive trust: “To see the world through your inner light… Hearts will align—don’t miss it.” It’s a perfect track for golden hour dancefloors and moonlit rooftops.

Carlita is a leading figure at the intersection of music and fashion. She’s been featured in British Vogue and on the cover of Vogue Italia, performed at exclusive events for Louis Vuitton, Versace, and Fendi, and curated performances featuring The Blessed Madonna, Patrick Mason, and Heron Preston at her own multi-sensory Senza Fine parties. Carlita comes from a background of musical mastery, having played classical cello for the Royal Academy of Music in London in her earlier years. She now plays high-profile DJ sets at Coachella, Glastonbury, Primavera, has opened for Dua Lipa on tour and has quickly risen as a producer with her phenomenal debut album Sentimental on Ninja Tune last year (with a release party in collaboration with Audemars Piguet), as well as remixes for Disclosure and RÜFÜS DU SOL.
