Following the notable praise for last year’s biopic A Complete Unknown, which chronicled the life of Bob Dylan, Oscar-nominated actor Timothée Chalamet is set to collaborate once more with director James Mangold on an upcoming film titled High Side. The project is inspired by an unpublished short story penned by Jaime Oliveira and is currently being shopped around to various studios and publishing houses.

Chalamet is presently in production for Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Three, slated for release on December 18, 2026. Before returning as Paul Atreides, he will star in the highly anticipated A24 sports comedy-drama Marty Supreme. Directed by Josh Safdie, the film is scheduled to hit theaters on December 25, 2025.

High Side revolves around Billy, a former MotoGP rider haunted by a career-ending crash and a troubled family history involving abandonment. Drawn back into the adrenaline-fueled world of extreme racing, Billy finds himself caught up in a dangerous scheme. His estranged brother, already on the FBI’s radar, recruits him to participate in a series of bank heists using superbikes. Once a talented motocross rider, Billy left the sport after a devastating accident and now spends his days caring for his addicted father and managing the family garage.

According to the synopsis, “Billy is blindsided when his older brother Cole reappears after their father’s death with a bold proposal: to use Billy’s riding skills for more than just racing—specifically, for bank robberies. Cole assembles a diverse crew, including a woman who becomes Billy’s romantic interest, and together they begin robbing small-town desert banks with speed and precision. As the stakes escalate, FBI agent Lennox, who has a complicated past with Cole, starts closing in. The crew’s biggest heist—timed to coincide with a large motorcycle parade—pushes everyone to the limit, leading to a high-octane climax filled with action, emotional twists, and unexpected turns.”
