Prime Video has unveiled first-look trailer for its upcoming drama series The Girlfriend, led by Robin Wright and Olivia Cooke.
The six-part series will premiere worldwide on September 10, streaming in over 240 countries and territories.
The cast features Wright as Laura, Cooke as Cherry, Laurie Davidson as Daniel, Waleed Zuaiter as Howard, Tanya Moodie as Isabella, Shalom Brune-Franklin as Brigitte, Karen Henthorn as Tracey, Anna Chancellor as Lilith, Leo Suter as Nicholas, and Francesca Corney as Millie.
Adapted from Michelle Frances’ best-selling novel, the story follows Laura (Wright), a woman who appears to have it all—a thriving career, a devoted husband, and a cherished son, Daniel. But when Daniel introduces his new girlfriend Cherry (Cooke), Laura’s seemingly perfect life begins to crack. Their uneasy first meeting leaves Laura suspicious that Cherry is hiding something sinister. Is Cherry a cunning social climber, or is Laura simply imagining the worst? The answer depends on whose side you believe.
Produced by Imaginarium Productions in partnership with Amazon MGM Studios, the series is brought to life by producers Jonathan Cavendish and Caroline Norris, with executive producers Wright, Will Tennant, Phil Robertson, John Zois, Dave Clarke, Gabbie Asher, and Frances.
The psychological thriller has been adapted for television by Naomi Sheldon and Gabbie Asher, with writing contributions from Sheldon, Asher, Polly Cavendish, Helen Kingston, Marek Horn, Ava Wong Davies, Isis Davis, Smita Bhide, and Matt Evans.
