Roadside Attractions has unveiled the official trailer for the film adaptation of Kiss of the Spider Woman, based on the Tony Award-winning stage musical by Terrence McNally, John Kander, and Fred Ebb. After its world premiere at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, the movie is scheduled to hit theaters on October 10.
According to the official synopsis, the story follows Valentín, a political prisoner, who shares a cell with Molina, a window dresser convicted of public indecency. The two develop an unlikely friendship as Molina narrates the plot of a Hollywood musical featuring his favorite silver screen star, Ingrid Luna.
Directed and written by Bill Condon (known for Dreamgirls and Beauty and the Beast), the film stars Diego Luna (from Andor and Y tu mamá también) as Valentín/Armando, Tonatiuh (from Carry On) as Luis Molina/Kendall Nesbitt, and Jennifer Lopez (from Hustlers) as Ingrid Luna. The cast also includes Tony Dovolani, Josefina Scaglione, Bruno Bichir, Aline Mayagoitia, and others. This vibrant Technicolor adaptation not only revives the Broadway musical but also marks the second film adaptation of Argentine author Manuel Puig’s acclaimed 1976 novel.
Lopez and Luna serve as executive producers alongside notable names such as Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Mark Scheinberg, Dani Bernfeld, Kevin Halloran, and others.
