Return to Silent Hill has unveiled its first teaser trailer, featuring two of the franchise’s most iconic characters: James Sunderland and Pyramid Head. This film marks the third installment in the Silent Hill movie series, following the 2006 adaptation Silent Hill and the 2012 sequel Silent Hill: Revelation. It is based on Silent Hill 2 (2001), the critically acclaimed second game in Konami’s popular video game franchise.

The teaser showcases James Sunderland, played by Jeremy Irvine, arriving in the eerie town of Silent Hill, where he encounters a variety of terrifying monsters, including the infamous Pyramid Head. Directed by Christophe Gans, who co-wrote the screenplay with Sandra Vo-Anh and Will Schneider, the film promises to delve into the dark and psychological themes of the source material.

The official synopsis states: “When James receives a mysterious letter from his lost love Mary, he is drawn back to Silent Hill—a once-familiar town now shrouded in darkness. As he searches for her, James confronts monstrous creatures and uncovers a terrifying truth that threatens to push him beyond the limits of his sanity.”

The cast also includes Hannah Emily Anderson as Mary Crane / Maria / Moth Mary, Evie Templeton as Laura, and Pearse Egan as Eddie Dombrowski. The film has a runtime of approximately 105 minutes.

James Sunderland is a central figure not only in the Silent Hill 2 game but also makes cameo appearances in other entries like Silent Hill 3, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, Silent Hill: Downpour, and Silent Hill: Book of Memories. He also appears in Dead by Daylight: Chapter XVI – Silent Hill and the upcoming 2024 remake of Silent Hill 2. Pyramid Head, introduced in Silent Hill 2, has appeared in both previous movie adaptations as well.

Produced by Davis Films and Hassell Free Productions, Return to Silent Hill is set for release in theaters across the United States on January 23, 2026. The film will be distributed by Cineverse under its Bloody Disgusting label, in collaboration with Iconic Events Releasing.
