Neon has unveiled a first glimpse of Adam Scott in the forthcoming horror film Hokum and provided details on its release timeline. The movie centers on Ohm Bauman (Scott), a reclusive novelist who travels to a secluded Irish inn to scatter his parents’ ashes. There, eerie tales from the staff about an ancient witch haunting the honeymoon suite begin to consume his mind, leading to unsettling visions and a mysterious disappearance that pulls him into a terrifying confrontation with his past, as per the film’s logline.
Per a Deadline report, Neon has slated Hokum for a theatrical release in 2026. The film is written and directed by Damian McCarthy, known for the 2024 horror hit Oddity.
The cast includes Peter Coonan and David Wilmot alongside Scott. Hokum is produced by Spooky Pictures’ Roy Lee and Steven Schneider, Image Nation’s Derek Dauchy, and Tailored Film’s Ruth Treacy, Julianne Forde, and Mairtín de Barra, with Ben Ross, Rami Yasin, and Andrew Childs as executive producers.
“Collaborating with Steven and Roy has been an extraordinary experience, yielding some remarkable projects,” said Ben Ross, acting CEO of Image Nation, when the film was first announced. “With Adam’s captivating performance and Damian’s distinctive vision, Hokum allows us to explore new dimensions in horror and strengthen our presence in the global market.”
