Mubi has unveiled the official teaser trailer for Father Mother Sister Brother, an upcoming dramedy anthology starring Adam Driver and Cate Blanchett. The film is set to have its world premiere this weekend at the 2025 Venice International Film Festival, with a U.S. theatrical release scheduled for December 24.
Father Mother Sister Brother is both written and directed by renowned filmmaker Jim Jarmusch, who also composed the score alongside Anika. The film is produced by Charles Gillibert, Joshua Astrachan, Carter Logan, and Atilla Salih Yücer. The creative team features directors of photography Frederick Elmes and Yorick Le Saux, editor Affonso Gonçalves, costume designer Catherine George, and production designers Mark Friedberg and Marco Bittner-Rosser.
Described as a feature film crafted in the form of a triptych, the official synopsis (via Deadline) states: “Father Mother Sister Brother explores relationships between adult children and their often distant parents—and each other.” Set entirely in the present day, each story takes place in a different country: FATHER in the Northeastern United States, MOTHER in Dublin, Ireland, and SISTER BROTHER in Paris, France. The film offers a series of character studies that are quiet, observational, and non-judgmental—a comedy woven with undertones of melancholy.
