Tate McRae has released a new single titled “Tit for Tat.” The track drops during her ongoing Miss Possessive Arena Tour, which continues tonight at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles.
Fans have speculated that the song may be a response to McRae’s recent breakup with Kid Laroi, who recently released “A Cold Play.” In the song, she sings, “Let’s go song for song, let’s go back to back,” and “Let’s go tit for tat, boy, you asked for that.” Earlier this year, McRae achieved her first No. 1 album with So Close to What. The Canadian pop artist told Rolling Stone that she started writing songs for the album shortly after releasing her second record, Think Later, in December 2023.
“Even though it’s work, writing feels like my safe space,” she said. “The stable part of my life is when I can talk about my feelings. So, amid how hectic the year was on tour, it was actually nice to come home and keep writing about my perspective on where I was at in life.” The Miss Possessive Arena Tour began in March and is scheduled to run through November, with upcoming dates in Seattle, New York City, Chicago, and other cities.
