Netflix has officially ordered the crime drama series “Rabbit, Rabbit” straight to series, starring Academy Award nominee Adam Driver. This marks Driver’s first major scripted series since his role in HBO’s hit show “Girls,” which wrapped up its six-season run in 2017.

According to Deadline, the series is set in a contemporary context at a truck stop in Southern Illinois. The story revolves around an escaped convict who, after being cornered by law enforcement, takes hostages to negotiate his freedom. The situation quickly evolves into a complex social experiment involving his captives and a seasoned FBI Crisis Negotiator skilled in “tactical empathy.”

“Rabbit, Rabbit” will be directed by Philip Barantini, known for “Adolescence,” with a screenplay by Peter Craig, who previously wrote “Top Gun: Maverick.” In addition to starring, Driver will serve as an executive producer alongside Craig and Bryan Unkeless of Night Owl, as well as Barantini and Samantha Beddoe of It’s All Made Up Productions. Filming is scheduled to begin early next year.

Upcoming projects for Driver include the comedy-drama anthology film “Father Mother Sister Brother” on Mubi, set for theatrical release on December 24, 2025. He will also reunite with Scarlett Johansson in James Gray’s crime drama “Paper Tiger.” Additionally, Driver will star opposite Chris Rock in the film “Misty Green,” which Rock is directing.
