Peacock has reportedly added a new drama series to its upcoming lineup, starring Taraji P. Henson. The series is based on a recent novel by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and represents a collaboration between their respective production companies. Early information indicates that the show will intertwine themes of crime, power, and moral dilemmas in a tense, high-stakes narrative.
Taraji P. Henson will not only star in but also serve as an executive producer for Peacock’s adaptation of The Accomplice, a crime novel penned by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and Aaron Philip Clark. The project, produced by Universal Content Productions, is currently in development, with Jackson’s G-Unit Films and Television and Henson’s TPH Entertainment attached. As of now, no writer has been announced for the series (per Variety).
According to the official logline, Henson will portray Nia Adams, a courageous Texas Ranger on the trail of a master thief named Desmond Bell. His latest heist targets one of America’s wealthiest families. As Adams narrows in, she uncovers a web of corruption that forces her to choose between exposing the truth and protecting the system she’s dedicated to upholding. Jackson’s novel was released in 2024, and this series marks Henson’s second collaboration with Peacock, following Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist.
Both Henson and Jackson will serve as non-writing executive producers. Jackson’s upcoming projects include Fightland for Starz, home to his Power franchise, which includes multiple spin-offs such as Power Book II: Ghost, Power Book III: Raising Kanan, and Power Book IV: Force. He is also developing Hip Hop Cop for Hulu and a Netflix docuseries about Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Henson, renowned for her roles in Empire and Hidden Figures, recently signed a first-look deal with Fox Entertainment Studios to develop both scripted and unscripted content. She also has a two-picture film deal with Netflix. Her recent works include The Color Purple and Think Like a Man Too. She has received multiple Emmy nominations and an Academy Award nomination for her role in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
The Accomplice continues Peacock’s efforts to expand its slate of original, character-driven drama series.
