Gerard Butler and Hayley Atwell have signed on for the leading roles in the new action film Empire City. Production is expected to begin sometime this month.
“In the film, when a hostage crisis erupts inside New York’s landmark Clybourn Building, firefighter Rhett (Butler), his squad, and his NYPD wife Dani (Atwell) must fight and navigate their way through the building to rescue the captives,” reads the official synopsis.
Empire City will be directed by Love & Monsters filmmaker Michael Matthews from a screenplay co-written by Brian Tucker and S. Craig Zahler.
