Hilary Duff is making her comeback — older, wiser, and more reflective than ever. The singer has released her highly-anticipated new single, Mature. In the song, Duff explores a pop-rock sound while taking a nostalgic journey back, singing to a younger version of herself. She explained in a statement, “‘Mature’ is a little conversation that my present self is having with my younger self. The two of us are reflecting on a past experience and sending love to each other. It’s a chuckle, a wink, and a feeling of gratitude for where we’ve ended up,” she shared.
Along with the single, Duff unveiled a new music video. Directed by Lauren Dunn, the visual features two versions of Duff: one performing on stage in a glamorous, sequined gold dress, and another sitting in an empty auditorium, watching. Mature is Duff’s first new release since 2015’s Breathe In, Breathe Out, which she co-created with her now-husband, Matthew Koma. Koma, a songwriter and producer known for his work as Winnetka Bowling League, also co-wrote “Mature” alongside Duff and Madison Love.
