“Run Toward The Monster” is where fear meets the concrete. It’s a raw, unflinching dive into the darkness we all carry. Legendary Detroit producer Apollo Brown laces every track with grimy, soul-drenched grit, while mainstay emcee Ty Farris spits with surgical clarity; no filters, no fantasies.
Each track is grown-man rap rooted in survival, self-awareness, and standing your ground. The monster isn’t just out there, it’s inside, and this album’s about facing it head-on. No capes, no heroes. Just two masters of the craft turning struggle into beautiful sound.
Gritty, emotional, and unapologetically honest, “Run Toward The Monster” is a fitting soundtrack for the cold months and colder realities.
“For the last 10 years, we’ve listened to our supporters call for this project, just based on the chemistry of a handful of features, so we made it happen. This album is for all the true fans & supporters of Apollo Brown & Ty Farris, respectively.” – Apollo Brown
This is survival music. No gimmicks, no fluff. Just real beats and real talk.
Run Toward The Monster is out now

the post-emo band Ben Quad released their highly anticipated studio album Wisher via Pure Noise Records. Along with the release, they shared a heartfelt new music video for the standout track “All Your Luck.” Incorporating fan-submitted home videos playing on vintage televisions, this music video was made to capture the spirit of love and nostalgia that the song represents.
“The recording session for ‘Wisher’ was such a pivotal period of growth for this band. It
felt like we were finally pushing ourselves outside of the typical emo mold. ‘All Your Luck’ is a good encapsulation of that experience,” shares guitarist Edgar Viveros. “We basically sat down at the studio and tried our best to channel the pop sensibility of artists we loved growing up – Third Eye Blind, Michelle Branch, Goo Goo Dolls, etc. It was a really nice change of pace writing something that was emotional, but not in a sad or angry way.”
Wisher serves as the follow-up to Ben Quad’s 2022 debut I’m Scared That’s All There Is. While the first record captured the uncertainty of youth and fear of the future Wisher reflects a more hopeful perspective, with the title symbolizing the part of ourselves that looks ahead to a better future. The new album feels like a response to the band’s earlier work, offering growth and optimism in place of doubt.
Singles off the record include the debut track “It’s Just a Title,” the cathartic song “Painless,” and most recently, “Very Big In Sheboygan.” All tracks deal with a variety of themes present throughout the album, including grief and loss, but also optimism for the future. “The overarching theme of this album is about accepting that pain and insecurity will follow us through the rest of our lives but that we can grasp on to the small moments that make life worthwhile,” adds Viveros.
Leaving the Sooner State for New Jersey, the band connected with producer Jon Markson (The Story So Far, Drug Church) to bring the album to life, taking up residence at his farm for their first real studio experience. Amidst barnyard animals and peaceful countryside, the idyllic setting provided the perfect backdrop – full of time and space – to find themselves and the next evolution of their sound.
Visually, Wisher is also the most intentional design the band has put out yet. The glitch effects imprinted over the album art signify their transition into using more electronic elements, while the fireworks and nostalgic photography serve to symbolize those short worthwhile moments that the central theme is based around.
Brooklyn, NY-based singer-songwriter and producer Tomás Tomás shares dreamy, cinematic debut EP Sweet Sleep out now. Alongside the full project is the gentle track and serene New York City-set music video, “Brought It Down” co-directed by Tomás Tomás and actor Jaeden Martell (IT, Knives Out, Defending Jacob), which serves as part one of a forthcoming three-part short film.
Tomás Tomás is the artful musical project from Tom Fattorusso whose previous roles include assistant director and composer for campaigns such as the Savage x Fenty Show. Now, with his heart on his sleeve, the artist presents a soothing collection he calls, “music you walk to.” It was built as a refuge from the overstimulation of the world–an effort to get rest for the soul.
Inspired by curiosity, Tomás Tomás says, “Going through life is confusing, and fascinating, I feel like I’m constantly searching for answers and meaning. I tend to reflect a lot, but through 2024 I had little time to smell the roses or any flower of any kind. Eventually I resorted to isolation, and it was liberating. Making this project became my therapy. I still have so many questions about this life, but speaking my mind through sound has brought me so much comfort. That’s truly what this project means to me. It’s an extension of my search for meaning. I reckon this music is best heard while on an evening walk.”
Southern Virginia native Trxy! announces his debut album, Drowning In Bliss, out everywhere February 13th via UnitedMasters. Furthermore, he gives listeners a taste of what they can expect from the upcoming record with new single, “Closure.”
“Closure” sharpens Trxy!’s signature fusion of dreamgaze and nu-metal. Layering hazy guitars with dreamy, distorted vocals, the track reimagines his nostalgic ‘90s and 2000s influences through a modern lens. It’s a bold, meticulously crafted piece that unfolds within a captivating sonic landscape, exploring the emotional complexities of finding closure. “The only way of letting go is by accepting,” Trxy! explains.
After a 5-year hiatus, the critically-acclaimed multi-talented singer-songwriter, instrumentalist, and producer Patrick Grossi, better known as ACTIVE CHILD,returns with a luminous new single, “Coming Up,” out today.Co-produced with Alex Goose (Kali Uchis, Childish Gambino, Vince Staples), “Coming Up” marks a sonic shift for Active Child. Moving beyond pure experimentation, Active Child embraces introspective songcraft, layering shimmering guitar tones with his unmistakable falsetto. The result is a sound both intimate and transcendent—LISTEN HERE.
ACTIVE CHILD’s creative resurgence began with an instrumental rediscovery: his D’Angelico acoustic guitar, a treasured family heirloom once played by his great-grandfather. Picking up the instrument again sparked not just nostalgia, but a deeper shift—an urge to create music that feels timeless, rooted in songcraft, and guided by love and personal reflection.
“The descending guitar structure naturally shaped the lyrics and theme toward self-reflection,” notes Active Child. “‘Coming Up’ is about sorting out who I am—my identity as an adult, a father, and a husband—and trying to reconcile that with what can sometimes feel like a self-absorbed journey as an artist. In many ways, it encapsulates where I am now in my life and sets the tone for what’s coming next for me musically: a search for balance between my creative path and my role as a parent and partner.”

Paulina and Tom Thum continue their collaboration with pop-soul anthem ‘Wrong Signal’, a sonic statement on confidence and respect. Paulina returns with her boldest single yet, ‘Wrong Signal’, in collaboration with world-renowned beatboxer and sonic innovator Tom Thum. ‘Wrong Signal’ marks the next evolution of the Paulina x Tom Thum creative partnership, building anticipation for their upcoming collaborative EP. The pair started the year hot with viral momentum of their previous hit ‘Focus On Me’ before moving into production-heavy track ‘Jaded’. Paulina and Tom once again come together to push boundaries with ‘Wrong Signal’ – a confident, empowering pop-soul track that takes a stand against disrespect and celebrates self- worth. Co-produced together, the track is a playground of inventive sounds. Think subtle layers of beatboxing, everyday objects like wine glasses sampled for organic texture, and a lead bass line crafted from Paulina’s own voice. The result is a fearless, experimental soundscape. “‘Wrong Signal’ was inspired by an experience I think nearly every woman I know has had at least once – a guy who just won’t take ‘no’ for an answer. Even though it’s a serious topic, I didn’t want to let them win & write a sad song about it. I think women (& anyone for that matter) should have the right to love themselves, feel sexy & be confident, without that being a green light for some creep to disrespect you. So, this is a bit of a screw you kind of song, directly aimed at anyone who is incapable of respecting people’s boundaries xx.”
Visionary Dutch-British singer, songwriter and composer Tessa Rose Jackson returns in January 2026 with her third studio album, The Lighthouse — a haunting yet life-affirming reflection on ancestry and belonging.
Ahead of that, Tessa releases another taste of the record in the shape of new single ‘Fear Bangs The Drum’, out October 24th.
Set to the sound of spectral atmospherics and a playful, addictive brass hook, ‘Fear Bangs The Drum’ is a song about acknowledging fear and allowing it to resonate, instead of trying to repress it.
“I am quite a fearful person myself — I worry about something happening to my loved ones, about the state of the world,” says Tessa. “Fear can be paralyzing. Recently, instead of trying to push it down, I’ve been allowing myself to let it bubble to the surface and just let it be for a bit — not acting on it, but also not fighting it. And then… breathe out. And let it go.”
“It’s funny that this song is one of the most celebratory songs on the record. The bridge is possibly my favourite bit of the whole album — this joyful expelling of all worry: everything passes. As will I. As will this. Be here now.”
Australian shoegaze artist Singer. Mattress. Cat. sinks into the mundane and celebrates connection as he dreams of something greater on ironic “Postcard Sort of Day” out now. The artist’s lo-fi debut album Subtropical Personality is due out December 1 and available to pre-save now. Led by Martin Cooke of cult favorite indie rock outfit Gaslight Radio, the new project is an ode to survival and meets the longtime musician where he is today as he positively reflects on the passage of time, hardship and failure.
With an ironic song title, “Postcard Sort of Day,” explores the gig economy and short-end jobs, and the bond that can grow in a monotonous routine, even while daydreaming of a life beyond. Cooke shares, is, “about the desire to leave your hometown, perhaps a postcard-perfect world to some, but an emotional straightjacket to others.” Over a slow groove, Cooke croons, “just to watch you wait tables for all those rich dudes in their khaki shorts/We shared a dart, behind the Safeway in the alleyway.” The musician says, “As an artist, you treat everyday, washing those dishes as though it’s a Postcard Sort of Day; picture perfect.” What matters most, however, is human connection. “That idea of having each other–sharing a cigarette in the alleyway–human companionship is all we have.”

Pacific Northwest born and bred Meredith Adelaide has had an interesting road to say the least. Beginning her musical journey after the death of her dad in 2012, Adelaide’s warm, minimal guitar and floating melodies provide the backdrop for sharing her gentle and brave internal process. Along the way she has maintained several television cameos including featured roles on Portlandia, Grimm, and Leverage, solidifying her role as an actress in addition.
Likened to the stylings of Joni Mitchell, Adrienne Lenker, and a hint of Ani DiFranco, Adelaide invites us to go inward and embrace our most intimate parts. Most recently, she featured extensively as a vocalist on KRAMON’s 2025 album, Evolutions. Now as the latter part of 2025 approaches, she is gearing up for the release of her debut album, To Believe I’m The Sun.
Brooklyn rock band Local Weatherman is excited to announce their new EP, Right One, available January 16, 2026, via rising tape label, Karol Records. “Thread,” the first preview of the incoming project is out now, which follows a search for identity through unraveling threads of anxiety, ample riffage, and heavy hooks. Quotable as ever, today’s release expands upon the band’s emerging discography with dizzingly cyclical guitars and powerful vocal delivery.
“‘Thread’ is about having no release valve when your mind is racing,” bandleader Fritz Ortman explains. “It’s the heaviest song we’ve made, but I think the bridge is one of the prettiest moments on the EP. This song also reckons with the rockstar dreams I had growing up (and maybe still have), and each verse ends with a nod to a song I loved as a kid.”
Osaka-born, New York–based artist Erika Dohi shares the title track and accompanying video from her forthcoming albumMyth of Tomorrow, out this Friday, October 24 via Switch Hit Records and Figureight Records. In tandem with the release, Talkhouse has published a conversation between Dohi and renowned multi-instrumentalist and producer Shahzad Ismaily (Arooj Aftab, Cassandra Jenkins, Ceramic Dog), where the two discuss the making of the album and more.
The pairing feels especially apt: Myth of Tomorrow marks the inaugural release for Figureight Records, a boutique imprint of Ismaily’s acclaimed Figure8 Recordings studio. The album highlights the studio’s rare collection of vintage synthesizers, instruments, and effects, as well as contributions from its close-knit community of house musicians—channeling a shared creative spirit that runs throughout the project.
Yet Myth of Tomorrow is more than a reflection of that scene with Erika at its center—it’s a poignant statement for our time. Inspired in part by Tarō Okamoto’s iconic mural depicting the Hiroshima bombing and the resilience of humanity—a work that appears prominently in the music video—Dohi channels both historical trauma and her own personal upheaval in the wake of the pandemic.
Expanding on the title track and album’s central theme, Erika shares: “They reflect on resilience and regeneration in the face of life’s relentless cycles. Through its lyrics, I explore the contradictions of modern existence—the struggle to find happiness in repetition, the unspoken burdens we carry, and the illusions we chase in pursuit of fulfillment. Yet, amidst all of this, the song also asks us to pause, breathe, and reconnect with the beauty in the everyday: the sun rising without fail, the moon’s quiet waning, the resilience of a dandelion growing through cracks in asphalt.” Amid our era of existential crisis and widespread disconnection from one another, Myth of Tomorrow challenges us to reconnect with what moves us to live for tomorrow—even when one isn’t promised.
Indie singer/songwriter Torri Weidinger is set to release their highly anticipated sophomore album bunny with tunnel vision on November 14th via AWAL. Pre-save the album now here.
“‘bunny with tunnel vision’, is a concept album that explores identity and self-hatred,” Weidinger shares. “Unlike my first record, ‘all in good Time’, almost every song on BWTV features a full band. The first track, featuring my sister Morgan Weidinger, warns the listener to find grace as I fall deep into a rabbit hole, that’s where I have to go.”
They continue: “These songs have taught me to have a compassionate curiosity about my suffering, and to find the beauty in my posture. Each song tells a story; most tracks are about different people. Overall, it tells a story of hope and patience in knowing it must get dark before there is light.”
Torri recently began sharing singles from the record, including “i’m a bunny with tunnel vision” as well as “living to work”, “floating” and “BIG RED EYES”. You can listen, watch and save the new album now at torriweidinger.com.
Their debut radio single “floating” entered at #25 on the SubModern Singles charts and secured editorial support with Spotify on the Fresh Finds Folk playlist. Torri recently supported pop act Girl Named Tom across the Midwest and East Coast and performed multiple sold out shows at Mercury Lounge in New York City.
Torri’s full band approach to bunny with tunnel vision is a fresh and exciting new world for fans. This direction is by no means a departure from the dark, moody and emotionally deep cello/acoustic songs that Torri has previously released. bunny with tunnel vision is produced/mixed by Jason Bennett and Nathan Cimino and is supported by Secret Friends Music Group Management, 33&West Booking, MusicBed, and AWAL Distribution.
