Nicolas Cage has secured his next action-packed role in the upcoming, lesser-known thriller from director Ken Sanzel. According to Deadline, Cage, along with Justin Long (known for Barbarian) and Shelley Hennig (from Ouija), have officially signed on to star in the film titled Best Pancakes in the County. The movie has already begun filming in Arkansas.
The story unfolds over a single night at a small-town diner, which becomes the scene of a tense and deadly confrontation involving rogue federal agents, a quick-witted con man with a dangerous past played by Cage, and a secret-keeping waitress portrayed by Hennig. As loyalties become unclear and tensions escalate, survival hinges on who can think and fight their way out. Interestingly, the film suggests that the “best pancakes in the county” might be the least of what’s explosive on the menu.
Best Pancakes in the County is directed by Ken Sanzel, who also penned the screenplay. The project is produced by Raja Collins, Eduard Osipov of Beno Films, and Eric Brenner, with Niko Fomenko and R. Wesley Sierk III of Caliwood Pictures also on board. The executive production team includes Nadine de Barros of Fortitude International, John D. Straley, Jina Panebianco, Lance Kawas, and others.
The production team expressed enthusiasm about the project, stating, “We’re thrilled to reunite with the iconic Cage, guided by the visionary Ken Sanzel. This action-packed, fast-paced adventure with wit and intensity is set to captivate audiences worldwide.”
