Netflix has announced the release date and released initial photos for Vladimir, a new limited series featuring Rachel Weisz and Leo Woodall.
The series centers on Weisz’s character, an unnamed writer and professor who becomes increasingly obsessed with her new colleague, Vladimir, played by Woodall. Vladimir is adapted from Julia May Jonas’s bestselling novel of the same name.
In an interview with Tudum, Weisz described the series as a blend of comedy and drama, noting its mischievous tone that explores serious themes. She explained, “There’s definitely comedy and drama. It’s mischievous and a good tonal cocktail for exploring some very serious subjects and issues. Her fantasy revolves around the power of desire—the exciting, stimulating, and revitalizing feeling she gets from her obsession with Vlad. It’s about coming back to life in a way after lying dormant for some time.”
Vladimir is set to premiere on Netflix on March 5, 2026. The limited series will comprise eight episodes, each 30 minutes long. The official synopsis describes it as: “When a passionate but reckless professor’s world begins to unravel, she becomes dangerously fixated on her charismatic new colleague. Seduction and obsession collide in Vladimir — a provocative series filled with forbidden desires, sharp wit, and unpredictable characters. As boundaries blur and secrets emerge, she risks everything to bring her most scandalous fantasies to life.”
The cast also includes John Slattery as John, Ellen Robertson as Sid, Jessica Henwick as Cynthia, along with Matt Walsh, Kayli Carter, Miriam Silverman, Mallori Johnson, Tattiawna Jones, and Louise Lambert.
Created, written, and executive produced by Julia May Jonas, Vladimir is produced by Jonas alongside Rachel Weisz, Sharon Horgan, Stacy Greenberg, Kira Carstensen, Jason Winer, Jon Radler, Shari Springer Berman, and Robert Pulcini.
The series’ directors include Shari Springer Berman & Robert Pulcini (episodes 1–2), Francesca Gregorini (episodes 3, 6–7), and Josephine Bornebusch (episodes 4–5).
