Elisabeth Moss is set to star in a new Hulu television series written by House creator David Shore.
Moss, widely recognized for her role as June Osborne in Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale—which concluded its six-season run last April—also gained fame as Peggy Olson in AMC’s Mad Men. Most recently, she appeared in Max Minghella’s film Shell. According to Deadline, Moss will lead Conviction, a legal drama that has received an official series order from Hulu and 20th Television.
The series is adapted from the 2023 novel of the same name by Jack Jordan. Additionally, it was announced that Jordan has signed a development deal with 20th Television, with two more of his books—Redemption (2024) and Deception (2026)—currently in development.
The story of Conviction, written by Shore, follows criminal defense attorney Neve Harper (played by Moss), a confident lawyer on the verge of a career-defining case. She is defending a man accused of murdering his wife by setting their house on fire. As the case unfolds, a mysterious stranger begins blackmailing Neve, forcing her to compromise her legal and moral principles to secure an acquittal—or risk her darkest secrets being exposed.
Although Conviction had been in development for some time, it was quickly given the green light. After Shore delivered the initial pilot script, Hulu requested additional material, including an outline for the second episode. Instead of providing just an outline, Shore surprised executives by writing a full second episode script, which led to the series order.
Filming is scheduled to begin this June in New York. As of now, no other cast members have been announced, and a release date has not yet been revealed.
