A fresh trailer for Peacemaker Season 2 has been unveiled, teasing exciting developments ahead.
Debuting on HBO Max in January 2022, the first season of Peacemaker was crafted by James Gunn. The series acts as a spin-off from 2021’s The Suicide Squad, with John Cena reprising his role as the titular character, Chris Smith.
Set to premiere next month, the upcoming season marks a shift in the show’s universe. While the inaugural season was rooted in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), concluding with 2023’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Peacemaker Season 2 will now be integrated into James Gunn and Peter Safran’s newly established DC Universe (DCU). Gunn has repeatedly assured fans that the storyline will address and adapt to this continuity transition.
The latest trailer spotlights a conflict between Chris Smith and Rick Flag Sr., hinting at a storyline driven by Frank Grillo’s character, who now leads A.R.G.U.S. and seeks vengeance for his son’s death. The cast also includes Tim Meadows as A.R.G.U.S. agent Langston Fleury, Michael Rooker as the bounty hunter Red St. Wild, on a mission to eliminate Eagly. Returning and new cast members feature Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Freddie Stroma as Vigilante, Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, Steve Agee as John Economos, Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Sean Gunn as Maxwell Lord, among others.
The season’s brief synopsis states: “Peacemaker faces a struggle to reconcile his past with his evolving purpose, all while fighting to bring peace—at any cost.”
Peacemaker Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on HBO Max on August 21, 2025. Fans can currently stream the first season along with The Suicide Squad on the platform.
