Netflix has released the official trailer for Running Point Season 2, featuring Academy Award nominee Kate Hudson once again at the forefront. The highly anticipated sports comedy series is set to return on April 23, 2026.
The new season picks up with Isla Gordon, now recognized as a key leader of the Los Angeles Waves rather than a surprise newcomer. With the franchise rebounding after last year’s scandal, Isla is eager to prove she’s more than just a placeholder for her brother Cam. Unbeknownst to her, Cam is quietly plotting behind the scenes to regain control, turning her every move into a potential setback.
The official synopsis teases the intense challenges ahead: Isla must juggle the pressure of managing a sports empire while balancing her personal life. As she navigates family power plays and scrutinizing boardroom dynamics, she’ll need to overhaul her strategies and develop a new playbook if she hopes to finish the season on top. Season 2 promises heightened stakes, deeper family drama, and more comedic moments highlighting what it takes to run a modern sports franchise.
The trailer hints at upcoming conflicts involving Cam’s return and the team’s financial struggles. It also offers glimpses of star-studded guest appearances, including Ike Barinholtz, Octavia Spencer, Lisa Rinna, Nicole Richie, and Scott Speedman.
Returning cast members include Drew Tarver as Sandy, Scott MacArthur as Ness, Brenda Song as Ali, Fabrizio Guido as Jackie, Chet Hanks as Travis, Toby Sandeman as Marcus, Uche Agada as Dyson, and Justin Theroux as Cam. Recurring guest stars such as Max Greenfield, Jay Ellis, Roberto Sanchez, Jon Glaser, Scott Evans, Rob Huebel, Marissa Reyes, and Justin Hurtt-Dunkley will also reprise their roles. New additions to the cast include Robert Townsend, Ken Marino, Tommy Dewey, Richa Moorjani, Jake Picking, Blake Anderson, Duby Maduegbunam, and Aliyah Turner, all set to play recurring characters.
Created by writer and executive producer Mindy Kaling, along with Ike Barinholtz and David Stassen (who also serves as showrunner), the series is executive-produced by Hudson, Howard Klein, Jeanie Buss, and Linda Rambis, with Jordan Rambis producing. Since its debut, Running Point has earned a Certified Fresh score of 79% on Rotten Tomatoes. The first season spent five weeks in Netflix’s Global English Top 10 TV List and ranked in the Top 10 across 83 countries.
