Nick Jonas and Kathryn Newton have signed on to lead the upcoming horror-comedy “White Elephant,” a festive slasher set during Christmas. The film is produced by the team behind the Radio Silence projects, who reunite with Newton after their work on “Abigail” (2024) and the recent release “Ready or Not 2.” According to Deadline, “White Elephant” will be directed by Eli Craig, known for “Clown in a Cornfield,” who also co-wrote the screenplay with JT Billings.
Production is already underway, with the story set amidst holiday cheer turned deadly. The plot revolves around eight friends participating in an annual Christmas gift exchange that quickly descends into a brutal game of survival and trust betrayal.
In addition to starring, Jonas is also serving as a producer alongside Spencer Berman for his production company, Powered By Jonas.
The film is produced by William Sherak, Paul Neinstein, and James Vanderbilt for Project X, with Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin also involved. Executive producers include Billings, Ryan McDonough, Amanda Drake, Newton, Scott Levine, and Chad Villella. MRC is financing the project.
Nick Jonas’s upcoming projects include the Lionsgate musical dramedy “Power Ballad” with Paul Rudd and the highly anticipated “Jumanji” sequel, “Jumanji: The Next Level,” set to release later this year. Kathryn Newton is attached to star in another horror film, “The Devil’s Mouth,” alongside Lana Condor. Rumors also suggest she may reprise her role as Cassie Lang in the upcoming “Avengers: Doomsday.”
