Excitement Builds as Filming Begins for The Batman 2 in Liverpool

Filming for The Batman 2 is set to commence soon, and set footage has fans buzzing with anticipation. The highly anticipated sequel, directed by Matt Reeves, will be shot in Liverpool, England. Clips shared online showcase behind-the-scenes moments, including shots of the Caped Crusader’s stunt double, Rick English, and a GCPD vehicle with a shattered windshield at Birkenhead Tunnel.

The leaked footage appears to capture an action scene in preparation, with visuals reminiscent of a discarded sequence from the first film. Experts suggest these clips are from a technical recce—meaning they are part of pre-filming preparations rather than footage intended for the final cut. Interestingly, some storyboards from 2022 revealed a scene where Batman chases the Penguin through a similar tunnel, with the Batmobile narrowly avoiding civilians before entering. Fans speculate that this scene might be repurposed for the upcoming film, especially since the set images hint at a winter setting, evidenced by snow covering the vehicle’s bumper and windshield.

Additionally, the set videos have teased a new Bat logo, sparking speculation about potential villains and the film’s working title. If the film stays on schedule, The Batman 2 will arrive five years after the original 2022 release, which was both critically acclaimed and a box office hit, grossing over $772 million worldwide.
While plot details remain under wraps, casting rumors involving Sebastian Stan and Scarlett Johansson have sparked curiosity. The movie is set to continue the story from the 2022 hit and its spin-off, The Penguin, which may even be getting a second season. The sequel will also feature an evolved version of Batman’s costume and new settings.

The Batman Part 2 is officially scheduled for release on October 1, 2027.
